Guidelines for travelling students
As a travelling athlete it is important that you are not only representing yourself as a student, but you are representing Carey Baptist College. We must maintain the same level of behaviour and attitude whilst on our championship trip.
1. Treat this trip as your would treat any normal competition for cheerleading2. Clothing should always be appropriate, neat and professional3. Communicate professionally at all times when working with members within and
outside of our school community. This includes airline staff, hotel staff, other clubs and event organisers. We want to leave the best impression possible!
4. Be trustworthy, respectful and non judgemental to each other during our time away. For most of you, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, lets not waste it being unkind to one another
5. Be proactive6. Reflect on your experiences, talk to each other about how you felt during the
day, what went on and what you learnt from it7. Keep a journal to write down what you did, where you went and what you saw.
This can be a great way to remember the trip. You can even make a photo diary on your iPhone to collect all of the great moments in one place together!
8. Build relationships with people you ordinarily wouldn’t. This is probably the only time you are going to be in the Gold Coast, with these amazing teammates and these teachers. Let’s make it special
9. Ask for help! If you are unsure or need assistance make sure you ask someone earlier than later. This trip is about representing our school, and having fun, not worrying about asking a question! It’s okay not to know.
Code of Conduct
2
Use this space to create a ‘Carey Cheerleading Code of Conduct.’ You actually have signed a form already this year agreeing to abide by
certain rules during training and competitions. I have added it below. Can you brainstorm about things I may have missed?

Before You LeaveChecklist
It is important that you have made sure that before you leave you are prepared for the whole trip! There are many ways you could do this. Use the following ideas below to get you started.
18
1. Make a list of all the items you need to pack, when you pack each item; tick it off so that you know you have done it. Don’t forget things that may
not be included on the lists I have provided. Things like, a personal first aid kit (strapping/ rock tape/ braces etc.)
2. Be as organised as possible! Have you placed all the phone numbers you will need in your phone? You can start by using your lanyard and
making sure all the teachers are in there!3. Do you have your student id? You will need it whilst we travel around and on
competition day. This can go inside your lanyard that also includes emergency details. That way- if something happens to any of you, you can show people who you are, and where you need to go.
4. Continue to make notes as you go; talking to another teammate is a great way to check if you have everything! Don’t forget to use your roommates to help you- remember, you don’t need four straighteners and hair dryers!

Packing List
I have created a list that I think specifies what the students will need during their time away on the Gold Coast. I have also attached a few separate lists that specify what
students will need in any circumstance or event. One is a dance specific packing list that has many items that students will not need but will help the students get in the habit of
packing their own belongings.
Students will be allowed up to 20 kgs in their suitcase and 7 kgs in their travelling backpack. This allowance is strict and must be followed. Please make sure you know how
much your suitcase weighs before you come to the airport. Students will also be gifted with a uniform costume bag to take in the cabin with them. It is important that what
