USEFUL INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS

The times of the rounds are as set out within this programme but the Tournament Committee

bowls must conform to the requirements of Law 9 of the Laws of Sport of Bowls, Current Edition,

where required. Team Managers/Captains must report to the Tournament Office at least 30 minutes

before the start time of their first match to conduct the draw and collect scorecards and stickers. Prior

to their first match, participating players (including two reserves) must assemble, in playing gear, 15

minutes before the start time of their match as instructed by the Tournament Director to receive their

National Competition badge. After the match is completed the winning team Captain/Manager must

take all scorecards, signed by both players/teams and the Green Umpire, to the Tournament

Office immediately.

FIRE EVACUATION AND SAFETY MEASURES In the event of a fire the alarm will sound continuously. If the alarm sounds please evacuate from the

arena in a controlled and safe manner via the nearest Fire Exit. Please leave gangways free. The yellow

hatched areas indicate walkways – please don’t stop and stand in the gangways. Please

ensure chairs, bags and personal belongings are not left as a trip hazard in these areas. Please do not sit

or stand on the grassed tops of the greens. Water is available in the Tournament Office – please

ensure you are kept well hydrated, covered up and use sun cream during warm and sunny days. The

First Aider is situated within the Tournament Office.

Competitors are warned not to leave valuables in the changing rooms and to take care of their

personal possessions at all times. Spectators are similarly warned. After this warning neither Bowls

England or Warwick District Council will under any circumstances accept responsibility for any loss

incurred.

PLAYING CONDITIONS

Dress Code:

a) Flat soled bowling shoes, white, cream, club or county coloured regulation dress, skirt,

culottes, tailored full length trousers or tailored cropped trousers of opaque material, shirt

style blouse, plain waistcoat/cardigan/pullover. The dress or skirt must be of regulation style,

having four inverted pleats, two at the front and two at the back. They must be long enough to

fall below the knee at the front and below the knee crease at the back. Cropped trousers

should fall midway between the knee and ankle. Sandals will not be permitted, in events under

the jurisdiction of Bowls England except in medical circumstances where a doctor’s note has

been provided.

b) Club/County apparel may be worn, provided that all members of the side or team wear the

same and provided that the design of the clothing has been registered by the club/county with

the County/Bowls England.

c) Bowls England licensed and approved apparel may be worn provided that all members of a side

or team bear the same colour above and/or below the waist.

d) Players governed by requirements of a specific ethnic culture shall be permitted to wear their

traditional dress if they so desire.

e) Tracksuits, shell suits and jeans are not acceptable.

f) Headgear, if worn, should be white or a registered colour.

g) Socks, if visible, should be white.

h) White waterproof clothing may be used, or, providing all members of a side or team wear the same, registered colour waterproof/fleeces are permitted. Bowls England licensed and

approved apparel may also be worn.

Playing Format:

A club side shall consist of 10 players. The disciplines are four wood singles (21 shots), four wood

pairs (21 ends), three wood triples (18 ends) and two wood fours (21 ends). Before the start of each

match, the nominated managers will toss a coin to decide the choice of jack for the first end. The

format for the competition will be as follows: 1pt for every discipline won (total of four points

available). In the event of a drawn discipline the point will be shared i.e. ½ point each. After

completion of the four disciplines the winning side will be decided by the highest number of points. In

the case of a tie, the winner will be decided from the total number of shots scored from the four

disciplines. Should these be equal as well as the match score, extra ends will be played in the pairs,

triples and fours to determine the result. Shots do not count on the extra end – only the result of

the three disciplines, i.e. 2-1, 3-0. All disciplines will be played simultaneously. Between rounds,

substitutes/changes are allowed in the side and between disciplines provided the players are

members of the same club and have not played for another side during the current competition. For

this competition only, substitution during play is allowed for the singles player in case of illness or

injury. The score being resumed after interruption.

Prizes: The Winners will be presented with a maximum of 12 medals and fleeces at the Bowls England

Annual Dinner. The Runners-Up will receive 12 medals.
