measurements. The conservation of biodiversity and its

monitoring techniques should be discussed in detail related

with climate change and natural disaster. The restoration of

deteriorated wetland ecosystem and polluted coastal and

marine ecosystem needs high technological support and

awareness campaign. The discussion on “Recent trends in

Environmental Engineering and Management” may lead to

trouble shoot and make pathway for these issues.

AbouttheInstitution

UKF College of Engineering and Technology, established in the year

of 2009, offers UG and PG graduate programs in engineering. Nearly

one thousand and one hundred students are studying in the college

in five undergraduate and two post graduate programs affiliated

with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. It emerged

as a prominent post graduate engineering college in the Kollam

district, catering to the academic needs of the in and around rural

communities of Kollam district, Kerala. The College is the brain child

of Dr. S. Basant, Managing Director of Kshema Power &

Infrastructure(P)Ltd., working in the field of green energy and

infrastructure development. The college is well supported by

Kshema Power to provide the best facilities to the rural student

population.

Objective

Environmental engineering is an interdisciplinary technology

that encourages scientists and practitioners to combine their

knowledge and skills in the management of ecosystems with a

common goal to maximize benefits to both man and the natural

environment in sustainable manner. The environmental

engineering management system deals with the designing of

sustainable systems consistent with ecological principles,

which integrate human society with its natural environment

for the benefit of both. The proper environmental management

system offers the numerous environmental benefits such as

solution for pollution and climate change related issues. In

recent days the lack of deficiencies in implementation of

technology for the mitigation of pollution leads to increase the

mortality rate. The recent flood occurred in Kerala showcase

many questions on environmental challenges and mitigation
