NATIONAL RUBBER CONFERENCE, 2016 HELD AT HOTEL LEMERIDIEN, NEW DELHI ON 29 TH AND 30 TH APRIL, 2016. Theme ““TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION, GREEN ENERGY AND BRAND CREATION- KEY TO SUCCESSThe first of Fifth in its series National Rubber Conference, 2016 was organized by the Northern Region of AIRIA on 29 th and 30 th April, 2016 at the strategically located LeMeridien, New Delhi. With the lighting of traditional lamp the Conference was inaugurated by Shri A Jayathilak, IAS, Chairman, Rubber Board as Chief Guest in absentia Shri Rajani Ranjan Rashmi, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Commerce. Shri Rajendra V Gandhi, President, IRMRA graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. At the outset Shri Vipan Mehta addressed the gathering with welcome speech. As Addl. Secretary, Commerce Ministry could not attend the inaugural function due to exigency of official duties his good will message was read out. This was followed by the addresses of Shri Anil Arora, National Convener, NRC2016, and Shri Mohinder Gupta, President, AIRIA. The concerns of rubber industry was highlighted by Shri Gupta like – domestic production of natural rubber being far less than the consumption which was only 50% and that the domestic rubber prices were ruling 20% higher than the international prices. Then the inverted duty structure was brought forward leading to shutting down of production unit by manufacturers and turning into traders of Chinese rubber goods. Its direct impact on job losses and also on moulded rubber goods, rubber rice rollers and balloon manufacturers etc. Citing India’s Share in international market as 1.48% compared to that of China at 11%. He was of the opinion that it can be enhanced to 5% in the nexr 57 years there up uplifting India’s ranking to 5 th position from current 19 th position for which the Govt. addresses the problems faced by the Rubber Industry. The President of IRMRA, Shri Rajendra V Gandhi, addressed with an encouraging speech to the industry. He was optimistic of opening more regional rubber research centers in the coming days. The Chief Guest Shri A. Jayathilak, Chairman Board, urged the rubber industry to participate actively in discussions on antidumping and safeguard measures introduced by the Government. His concern of influx of cheap imports from China was hurting the MSME sector. Appeasing the concerns of industry of not being meted out equal treatment between industry and plantations issues he said the Rubber board places equal importance to the development of both natural rubber producing and consuming interest. Shri Ashwani Sarin, Chief Convener, NRC16, Delhi gave the votes of thanks. Shri Anil Arora, meticulously planned the topics relating the theme. The Conference had a total of Six technical sessions with 17 slots. NATIONAL RUBBER CONFERENCE, 2016 HELD AT HOTEL LE‐MERIDIEN, NEW DELHI ON 29TH AND 30TH

 Theme ““TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION, GREEN ENERGY AND BRAND CREATION- KEY TO SUCCESS”

 

The first of Fifth in its series National Rubber Conference, 2016 was organized by the Northern Region 

of AIRIA on 29th and 30th April, 2016 at  the strategically  located Le‐Meridien, New Delhi.     With  the 

lighting of traditional lamp the Conference was inaugurated by Shri A Jayathilak, IAS, Chairman, Rubber

Panel discussion‐ Technological Innovation, Green Energy and Brand Creation‐ Key to Success 

The presentations bacon  the  light  for delegates  to  take  things  forward and proved worthy of  their 

guidance. The Chairmen and Co‐Chairmen conducted the proceedings of each session. 

A Panel Discussion followed the Technical Session and the topic was on the theme of the Conference 

with a brain storming session. Shri Anil Arora, as Moderator kept the delegates attracted throughout. 

Members of  the discussion panel were Dr. Arup K Chandra of Apollo Tyres, Prof Anil Bhowmick, Ex 

Director of IIT Patna and Senior Professor Rubber Technology Centre, IIT Kharagpur, Shri Rajiv Budhraja, 

Director  General,  ATMA,  Shri  Monojit  Mukherjee,  Head  (Carbon  black)  Himadri  Chemicals  and 

Industries, and Shri Kishor Katkar, Head Technical Services and Business Development, ISRPL.   

The Event of this magnitude was supported by Sponsors from well known rubber and synthetic rubber, 

Chemicals etc. There were encouraging numbers of delegates including those from   foreign, sponsors 

and student delegates.  

The advertisement support to the Event from the industry was of greater numbers. 

A gala dinner was organized on the 29th April, 2016. 

All  the sponsors and organizing committee members were  felicitated with mementoes. Shri Anshul 

Sarin, one of the members of Organizing Committee, NRC16, planned the arrangements, sequencing 

and their execution 

The Conference concluded with a valedictory speech by Shri Ashwani Sarin, Chief Convener of NRC16.
