2 OVERVIEW OF THE NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE The USTA sanctions six different types of national tournaments designed for not only the top level juniors in the country, but also those who have achieved some success in their Sectional Association and desire to enter tournaments where they can play juniors from other parts of the country. • USTA National Championships • USTA National Opens • USTA Team Championships • USTA Regional Tournaments • USTA International Tournaments The USTA also selects certain ITF Tournaments to appear on the National Junior Tournament Schedule. All of the tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule, as well as up to 12 tournaments designated by each USTA Sectional Association, count for national junior ranking. Collectively, these tournaments are called “National Ranking Tournaments.” Each year the USTA designates a ranking level for each of the National Ranking Tournaments that corresponds to the ranking points earned by winning rounds at these tournaments. Level designations appear next to each tournament listed in the Calendar of National Tournaments beginning on page 16. Results from up to 6 singles National Ranking Tournaments and up to 6 doubles National Ranking Tournaments count toward national ranking. A full description of the national points per round combined ranking system can be found on the USTA website. Go to www.USTA.com and click on Youth Tennis/Junior Competition. Once on the Junior Competition page, click on Contact Us in the right navigation bar. Alternatively, click on the link below. http://www.usta.com/Youth-Tennis/Junior-Competition/Ranking/

NATIONAL STAFF & VOLUNTEER DIRECTORY The USTA posts an up-to-date directory of its national Junior Competition staff and volunteers on its website. Go to www.USTA.com and click on Youth Tennis/Junior Competition. Once on the Junior Competition page, click on Contact Us in the right navigation bar. Alternatively, click on the link below. http://www.usta.com/Youth-Tennis/Junior-Competition/ContactUs/

USTA ANTI-DOPING PROGAM The USTA is committed to ensure fair and drug-free competition. Individual athletes bear the ultimate responsibility to choose for themselves to compete fairly and drug-free. Participation in USTA tournaments constitutes consent to be tested for drugs. Use of banned substances and doping methods is cheating and may result in penalties including suspension and permanent disqualification. The USTA has developed a program of education, testing, research, penalties, and rehabilitation. The Board has adopted and supports the USTA Program of Drug Education, Testing, and Penalties. Information about this program is available on the USTA website. Go to www.USTA.com and click on Improve Your Game/Sports Science. Once on the Sports Science page, click on Drug Education in the right navigation bar. Alternatively, click on the link below. http://www.usta.com/Improve-Your-Game/Sport-Science/110784_Drug_Education/

USTA AGE ELIGIBILITY MONTH OF BIRTH AGE ELIGIBILITY: The USTA uses a “month of birth” age eligibility rule for junior

players competing in USTA sanctioned tournaments. This rule applies to all local, District, Sectional, and National USTA sanctioned tournaments – it does not apply to USTA International Tournaments and ITF Tournaments (see “USTA International Tournaments & ITF Tournaments” on page 11). Junior players may continue to play in the 12, 14, 16 and 18 age divisions until the month they turn 13, 15, 17, or 19, respectively. Players should use the starting date of a tournament to determine eligibility when a tournament begins in one month and ends in the next.

SETTING GOALS: All junior players are responsible for setting their own competitive goals and meeting the requirements for tournaments, ranking, and endorsement.

Page 3: NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEassets.usta.com/assets/1/15/2011 National Junior Tournament Sche… · 15/01/2011  · NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE . JANUARY 2011 – DECEMBER

3

PLANNING AHEAD: All junior players should plan ahead and consult their parents, coaches, or their Sectional Office to help them decide which age group is best for them to play in order to meet their tennis development and ranking goals.

ENTERING CONCURRENT TOURNAMENTS The USTA Regulations prohibit a player from entering two tournaments that have dates that overlap by one or more days unless a player has the prior written consent of both tournaments. This includes the USTA Regional Tournaments that have eight concurrent events in each division taking place at the same time, four times each year. Instructions on how to request concurrent entry into the USTA Regional Tournaments can be found on the TennisLink Tournament Home Page of these tournaments. There are two exceptions to this rule on the national junior level. Both the USTA National Championships and the USTA National Opens allow for a player to enter more than one age division, however, it is important to understand the consequences of this decision. If you want to play in one of these tournaments, but aren't sure if you will get in, you may enter up to two different age divisions. When selection is done, players are selected for the oldest age division first. If you are selected into the older age division entered, you will not be selected into the younger division. If you are not selected into the older division, you will only be considered for selection into the younger division and you will only be eligible to be an alternate in the younger division.

HOW TO ENTER TOURNAMENTS ON THE NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE Tournaments listed in this publication will use different methods of entry. Below are descriptions of the various types of entry methods. The entry method type for an individual tournament will be shown as part of the listing for the tournament in this publication. TENNISLINK:

• Tournaments Using TennisLink: USTA National Championships USTA National Opens USTA Regional Tournaments

• Read Tournament Information BEFORE Entering: READ THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE TOURNAMENT BEFORE ENTERING. Tournaments will provide entrants with important information about the tournament on the Tournament Home Page. SECTIONAL SELECTION - USTA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: Junior players are selected by their Section to

represent the Section in the USTA Team Championships listed below. Sections have varying methods for players to enter – contact your Section for information on entering. USTA Boys’ 18 National Team Championships USTA Girls’ 18 National Team Championships USTA Boys’ and Girls’ 16 Intersectional Team Championships USTA Boys’ and Girls’ 16, 14 and 12 Zone Team Championships

USTA INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS AND ITF TOURNAMENTS: All information related to the entry

into USTA International Tournaments and ITF Tournaments can be found under “USTA International Tournaments and ITF Tournaments” on page 11.

NATIONAL STANDINGS LISTS (NSLs) DEFINITION - NATIONAL STANDINGS LISTS: National Standings Lists are published at least monthly for

each division using the results described below. It is anticipated that NSLs will be published as frequently as once a week. An NSL for a division will include all players who meet the age and citizenship/certain alien eligibility requirements who have played at least one National Ranking Tournament in the division and have accumulated at least 1 ranking point as the result of an on-court win. An on-court win is one that takes place on-court after the start of the match. Matches won by withdrawal, walkover, default, or disqualification prior to the start of the match are not considered on-court wins. National Ranking Tournaments include the USTA Junior National Championships (collectively, the USTA National Championships, USTA National Opens, and USTA Team Championships), USTA Regional Tournaments, USTA International Tournaments, and ITF Tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule and up to 12 Sectional tournaments designated by each Section.

RESULTS USED TO CALCULATE NSLs: NSLs are calculated using ranking points earned during the previous 12-month period based on the points per round combined ranking system as follows: • 100% of the singles ranking points from a player’s 6 best National Ranking Tournaments; • 100% of the singles bonus points earned at Boys’ and Girls’ 18 ITF Bonus Point-Only Events on the

National Junior Tournament Schedule; and • 15% of the doubles ranking points from a player’s 6 best National Ranking Tournaments.

Points earned in a higher age division tournament count towards a player’s standing in one or more younger age divisions.

Page 5: NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEassets.usta.com/assets/1/15/2011 National Junior Tournament Sche… · 15/01/2011  · NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE . JANUARY 2011 – DECEMBER

5TIEBREAK RULES FOR NSLs: Tiebreaks on a NSL will be determined as follows:

1. A player whose best event has the highest number of points, second best, third best, etc. through sixth event.

2. Total Bonus Points earned in all events played during the computation period. 3. Best random draw number

USTA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS DEFINITION: The USTA National Championships are the highest level of USTA national junior competition

and have been designated as Level 1 National Ranking Tournaments. Four USTA National Championships are held each year in each division: USTA National Spring Championships, USTA National Clay Court Championships, The USTA National Championships, and USTA National Winter Championships.

ELIGIBILITY: Players who meet the U.S. citizenship or residency requirements, age eligibility requirements, and membership requirements (current USTA membership) may enter. In addition, professional players may enter. The USTA National Championships are the only type of USTA junior national championship that professional players can enter.

ENTRY PROCEDURES: Players must enter using TennisLink. See “How to Enter Tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule” on page 3. A player may enter up to two age divisions of USTA National Championships, but may play in only one age division in each group of USTA National Championships. See “Entering Concurrent Tournaments” on page 3 for more information. If a player plays singles and doubles, the player shall play in the same age division.

DOUBLES ENTRY PROCEDURES: The entry deadline for the doubles event at USTA National Championships

is on the day of registration and the time is set by the Tournament Committee - see the TennisLink Tournament Home Page for information. At USTA National Championships that have more than one division (the USTA Winter Championships, for example, has the BG18 and 16 at one location), players must play doubles in the same division in which they are playing singles.

SINGLES SELECTION PROCEDURE: Each Tournament Committee shall accept players who have submitted timely entries and successful Wild Card applicants into the singles draw in the following order: • Players on National Championship Selection List (NCSL):

Boys’ and Girls’ 18 divisions. For a draw of 192, players on the list in positions 1 through 40 shall be accepted; and for a draw of 128, players on the List in positions 1 through 32 shall be accepted; or

Boys’ and Girls’ 16, 14 and 12 divisions. For a draw of 192, players on the List in positions 1 through 24 shall be accepted; and for a draw of 128, players on the List in positions 1 through 16 shall be accepted.

See “National Championship Selection List” below for the criteria for appearing on this list. • Players Who Qualified from USTA National Opens: Players not previously selected who are among

the top two singles finishers in each of the four immediately preceding USTA National Opens shall be accepted, if otherwise eligible. A player whose doubles team has been defaulted for any reason in the player’s final schedule doubles match shall not be eligible if, in the judgment of the Referee, the conduct of that player contributed to the Default.

USTA National Open Qualifies for the following USTA National Championship:

February National Opens USTA National Spring Championships

May National Opens USTA National Clay Court Championships

July National Opens The USTA National Championships

November National Opens USTA National Winter Championships

• Players Within Sectional Associations’ Quotas: Junior players not previously selected who are on the Sectional endorsement lists, within the established Sectional quota, and who have submitted timely entries shall be accepted in the order determined by the Sectional endorser.

• Endorsed Players on National Standings List: The Tournament Committee shall fill remaining spots in the draw, except those spots reserved for Wild Card recipients, with endorsed players who have submitted timely entries who remain on the most recently published singles National Standings List. See “National Standings Lists (NSLs)” on page 4.

Page 6: NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEassets.usta.com/assets/1/15/2011 National Junior Tournament Sche… · 15/01/2011  · NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE . JANUARY 2011 – DECEMBER

6 • Wild Cards: The Tournament Committee shall accept those junior players granted wild cards by the USTA

Wild Card Committee. Wild card recipients do not need Sectional endorsement, however the Sectional office must approve a player’s wild card application. See “USTA National Championship Wild Card Regulations” on page 7. Overall wild card limits are: Eight (8) wild cards for the 16s and 18s USTA National Spring Championships and USTA National Winter

Championships and for all 12s and 14s USTA National Championships. Twelve (12) wild cards for the 16s and 18s USTA National Clay Court Championships and The USTA

National Championships.

SINGLES ALTERNATES: • Alternate List: The Tournament Committee shall prepare an alternate list of those players with timely

entries not accepted into the draw who appear on the Sectional Endorsement Lists and who are doubles finalists from the four preceding USTA National Opens. Alternates shall be ordered using the National Standings List used to accept players into the draw to fill remaining vacancies. Late entrants who are eligible for selection shall be listed below these players by the date and time on which the late entry is made. If multiple late entries are received at the same time, they shall be ordered by lot. Late entrants are not ordered by position on the National Standings List.

• Replacement of Player Before Draw is Made: The Tournament Committee shall replace a player who was accepted as part of a Section’s quota with the next player on that Section’s endorsement list. The Tournament Committee shall replace a player who was NOT accepted as part of a Section’s quota with next highest remaining alternate.

• Replacement of Player After Draw is Made, but Before the Start of Player’s First Match: The Tournament Committee shall replace a player who withdraws, is defaulted, or is otherwise removed from the draw after the draw is made, but before the player’s first match with next highest remaining alternate.

ON-SITE ALTERNTES: Each Tournament Committee shall establish a procedure for checking in on-site alternates and publish the procedure on the TennisLink Tournament Home Page. The procedure shall include the following: • On each day in which alternates may be accepted into a draw, any alternate desiring admittance must

check in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate.

• The order of the alternates is based on the original Alternate List published by the tournament, not a more recent National Standings List, and not in the order in which the players check in.

On-Site Alternates may be admitted into the singles main draw to replace withdrawing players until the completion of the first round of play. Any player receiving a bye in the first round can also be replaced by an on-site alternate in the second round because this player has not yet played a match in the event. This does not apply to players receiving withdrawals or retirements as these are considered matches won. On-Site Alternates may not play in the Feed-In Championship unless they have first played in the singles main draw.

SINGLES SELECTION NOTIFICATION: The players and their acceptance status will be published to the TennisLink Tournament Home Page shortly after the entries close. Wild card recipients will be notified by the USTA Junior Competition Department. Alternates selected to fill openings in the draw will be contacted by the Tournament Committee.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SELECTION LIST (NCSL): The USTA shall publish National Championship Selection Lists for singles in each division with effective dates as of January 15, May 1, and October 1 of each year. Each list shall consist of players who are eligible for the next USTA National Championship as follows: • Boys’ and Girls 18 Divisions. Players in the Boys’ and Girls’ 18 divisions shall be listed in the following

order: 1. Sixteen players who have played in the singles draw of at least:

• One National Ranking Tournament (as defined in USTA Regulation IX.C.3) in the List’s division during the four months before the effective date of the list; and

• Two other National Ranking Tournaments in the List’s division during the 12 months before the effective date of the List. These players shall be listed in the order of strength of record calculated as of the effective date using the USTA computer ranking program.

2. Players who have an ATP singles ranking of 1000 or better or who have a WTA singles ranking of 600 or better as of the effective date, which players shall be listed in the order of their ranking; and

3. Players not previously listed who have an ITF singles ranking of 100 or better as of the effective date, which players shall be listed in the order of their ranking.

Page 7: NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEassets.usta.com/assets/1/15/2011 National Junior Tournament Sche… · 15/01/2011  · NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE . JANUARY 2011 – DECEMBER

7• Boys’ and Girls’ 16, 14 and 12 Divisions. Players who have played in the singles draw of at least:

1. One National Ranking Tournament (as defined in USTA Regulation IX.C.3) in the List’s division during the four months before the effective date of the list; and

2. Two other National Ranking Tournaments in the List’s division during the 12 months before the effective date of the List. These players shall be listed in the order of strength of record calculated as of the effective date using the USTA computer ranking program.

Note that the May 1 NCSL is used for both the USTA National Clay Court Championships and The USTA National Championships, except that immediately after the USTA National Clay Court Championships the list is republished and any players who are not age eligible for The USTA National Championships are removed and replaced with the next-highest eligible player. • Administrative Errors: Junior players who do not appear on the NCSL due to administrative error may

request a correction to the list. Requests should be sent to the USTA Junior & Collegiate Competition Department, 10399 Flores Drive, Boca Raton, Florida 33428, (561) 962-6400, (561) 962-6485 (Fax), [email protected]. Requests must be postmarked or email time stamped within 10 days of the publication of NCSL.

DOUBLES SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Tournament Committee shall accept doubles teams into the

doubles event in the following order: 1. Teams comprising two players in the singles draw and teams with at least one National Open Doubles

Qualifier paired with one sectionally-endorsed player shall be accepted. This means that a team with a National Open Doubles Qualifier, regardless of whether the Qualifier plays with a singles player, singles alternate, or doubles-only endorsed player, must be accepted. Tournaments are required to expand the draw beyond the 64 or 96 draw size if it is necessary to accommodate all teams entitled to entry.

2. Teams comprising one player in the singles draw and one sectionally-endorsed player not in the singles draw. If more than the maximum number of entries is received, selection order is based on combined standings and combined doubles ranking points (see Determining Combined Standings and Combined Ranking Points below), except that no team comprised of a Late Applicant shall be selected before a team comprised of timely applicants. Tournaments are NOT authorized to expand the draw size in order to accommodate these types of teams.

3. Teams comprising two sectionally-endorsed players not in the singles draw.

Determining Combined Standings and Combined Ranking Points. For the purpose of determining

selection of teams, below is the process of calculating combined standings and combined ranking points: • A team’s combined standing is determined as follows: Player A holds the #200 standing and Player B

holds the #201 standing. The Team of A&B would have the combined standing of 402. • Combined Doubles Ranking Points are determined as follows: Player A has 25 doubles ranking points

and Player B has 10 doubles ranking points. The Team of AB would have combined doubles ranking points of 35.

USTA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WILD CARD REGULATIONS IMPORTANT NOTE: The information below applies ONLY to Wild Cards for USTA National Championships.

See sections on the various tournament types for information on Wild Cards for USTA Regional Tournaments, USTA International Tournaments, and ITF Tournaments.

ELIGIBILITY: Applications for Wild Cards will be considered where extenuating circumstances have made the normal procedure of qualification and endorsement impossible. Wild Cards also may be granted based on the recommendation of the USTA National Coaching Staff that a player has demonstrated significant potential at the national and international level.

WILD CARD APPLICATION: Wild Card applications are available online. Go to www.USTA.com and click on Youth Tennis/Junior Competition. Once on the Junior Competition page, click on Information for Players and Parents: Tournaments, Rankings & More in the right navigation bar. A link to the Wild Card information page, including a link to the Wild Card application will be posted on the page. Applications MUST be filed separately for each National Championship and received by the appropriate deadline (see below).

The procedure shall include the following: • On each day in which alternates may be accepted into a draw, any alternate desiring admittance must

check in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate.

Page 9: NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULEassets.usta.com/assets/1/15/2011 National Junior Tournament Sche… · 15/01/2011  · NATIONAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE . JANUARY 2011 – DECEMBER

9• The order of the alternates is based on the original Alternate List published by the tournament, not a more

recent National Standings List, and not in the order in which the players check in.

ONLINE SELECTION NOTIFICATION: Main draw players and alternates can view lists published to the TennisLink Tournament Home Page no later than five days after the entries close. Alternates will appear on the alternate lists at all sites they have prioritized. Alternates selected to fill openings in the draw will be contacted by the Tournament Committee.

SITE ASSIGNMENT FINAL: Once a player has been accepted into a USTA National Open, the player shall not be eligible for play in any other USTA National Open held during the same time, except that a player may submit a written request to move to another site within the same division if the draw at the requested site is not full, the request is received by each Tournament Director no later than 10 days before the start date of the tournament, and each Tournament Director involved understands the circumstances and concurs in writing.

DOUBLES ENTRY PROCEDURES: The entry deadline for the doubles event at USTA National Opens is on the day of registration and the time is set by the Tournament Committee – see the TennisLink Tournament Home Page for information.

USTA REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS DEFINITION: USTA Regional Tournaments are national tournaments held throughout the calendar year and

have been designated as Level 3 National Ranking Tournaments. USTA Regional Tournaments are held four times per year in each division: January, July, September, and October. At each of these times, eight simultaneous tournaments will be held in different regions of the country. The July tournaments will have singles draws of 64 and doubles draws of 32. All other tournaments will have singles draws of 32 and doubles draws of 16.

ELIGIBILITY: Players who meet the U.S. citizenship or residency requirements, age eligibility requirements, and membership requirements (current USTA membership) may enter.

ENTRY PROCEDURES: Players must enter using TennisLink. See “How to Enter Tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule” on page 3. Entry into concurrent USTA Regional Tournaments is governed by the USTA’s concurrent tournament rule that requires a player to obtain written permission of each Tournament Committee before entries close. Information on the proper procedure for entering concurrent USTA Regional Tournaments is posted on each TennisLink Tournament Home Page.

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Players are accepted into the draws in the following order:

Draw Size of 32 • 6 players will be selected from the from the top 200 players on the most recent National Standing List of

the next-younger age division; • 25 players will be selected from the most recent National Standing List of the division of the event; • 1 player may be selected by Wild Card. Unused Wild Cards will be filled by players from the National

Standing List of the division of the event. Players must be eligible for national ranking to receive a Wild Card.

• Remaining vacancies will be filled by players from the National Standing List of the division of the event. • In the 12 and under age division, 31 players will be selected from the most recent National Standing List.

Draw Size of 64 • 12 players will be selected from the top 200 players on the most recent National Standing List List of the

next-younger age division; • 50 players will be selected from the most recent National Standing List of the division of the event; • 2 players may be selected by Wild Card. Unused Wild Cards will be filled by players from the National

Standing List of the division of the event. Players must be eligible for national ranking to receive a Wild Card.

10• Remaining vacancies will be filled by players from the National Standing List of the division of the event. • In the 12 and under age division, 62 players will be selected from the most recent National Standing List.

WILD CARDS: Criteria for selection of a player to receive a Wild Card are at the discretion of the Tournament Committee and may include qualifying draws as set forth below. Information on Wild Cards must be published on the TennisLink Tournament Home Page before entries open including details on the qualifier or the application/request deadline.

QUALIFIERS: Qualifying draws may be held to allocate one or more of the Wild Cards. These qualifying tournaments do not earn national ranking points, however they may count towards sectional ranking if the host Section so chooses.

ALTERNATES: Tournament Committees shall order the alternates as follows: • Players with 100 or more ranking points on the National Standing List of the division of the event used to

select players into the tournament shall be listed at the top of the alternate list in the order their names appear on such National Standing List;

• Players not previously selected or listed with 100 or more ranking points on the National Standing List t of the next-younger division used to select players into the tournament shall be listed in the order their names appear on such National Standing List below the first group of players;

• Players not previously selected or listed shall be listed in the order their names appear on the National Standing List of the division of the event used to select players into the tournament below the second group of players;

• Players not previously selected or listed shall be listed in the order their names appear on the National Standing List of the next-younger division used to select players into the tournament below the third group of players.

• Late entrants shall be listed below all other alternates by the date and time on which the late entry is made. If multiple late entries are received at the same time, they shall be ordered by lot. Late Entrants are not ordered by position on the National Standings List.

ON-SITE ALTERNATES: Each Tournament Committee shall establish a procedure for checking in on-site

alternates and publish the procedure on the TennisLink Tournament Home Page.

DOUBLES ENTRY PROCEDURES: The entry deadline for the doubles event is determined by the Tournament Committee and may be either the singles entry deadline or some later date - see the TennisLink Tournament Home Page for information.

USTA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS The USTA sanctions two different types of USTA Team Championships to give players the fun experience of representing their Section and playing on a team with other junior players: • USTA Boys’ & Girls’ 18 National Team Championships • USTA Boys’ & Girls’ 16 Intersectional Team Championships • USTA Boys’ & Girls’ 16, 14, and 12 National Zone Team Championships The first two listed - National Team and Intersectional Team - are the highest level of team competition in the U.S and have been designated as Level 1 National Ranking Tournaments. Sectional Associations select teams of their best players to compete against other Sections for the national team title.

The Zone Team Championships, or “Zonals,” are the next level of national team competition and have been designated as level 2 National Ranking Tournaments. Sectional Associations select one or more teams of players to compete regionally against other Sections. Four concurrent Zone Team Championships take place in each division at the same time and not all Sections are represented at each of the regional competitions.

USTA INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS & ITF TOURNAMENTS USTA INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS: USTA International Tournaments are sanctioned by the USTA,

but are run under ITF tournament regulations. They are not sanctioned by the ITF and do not earn ITF ranking points; however, they are National Ranking Tournaments. These tournaments have been designated various national ranking levels - ranking levels appear in information provided on each tournament in the Calendar of National Tournaments beginning on page 16.

The USTA International Tournaments are: • USTA International Spring Championships – 16 divisions • Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships – 16, 14, & 12 divisions • Nike Junior Tour USTA National Masters - 14 & 12 divisions • American Cup – 18, 16, 14, & 12 divisions • Dunlop Orange Bowl International Championships – 16 divisions • Junior Orange Bowl International Championships – 14 & 12 divisions

ITF TOURNAMENTS: ITF Tournaments played in the United States have been selected to appear on the National Junior Tournament Schedule and earn both ITF and USTA ranking points. These tournaments have been designated various USTA national ranking levels - ranking levels appear in information provided on each tournament in the Calendar of National Tournaments beginning on page 16. All ITF Tournaments are in the 18s division.

Additionally, the following ITF junior tournaments that do not take place in the United States have been designated as National Ranking Tournaments; however, they are Bonus Point-Only events (see National Ranking System below for more information): Australian Open Junior Championships French Open Junior Championships Wimbledon Junior Championships Canadian Junior International Championships

AGE ELIGIBILITY: The ITF regulations have a “year of birth” age eligibility rule. This is NOT the same “month of birth” age eligibility rule used by the USTA. Juniors may play the 18s, 16s, 14s or 12s division until the YEAR in which they turn 13, 15, 17, or 19 respectively. 18s Division: .................................................. Born between January 1, 1993 and December 31, 1998 16s Division: .................................................. Born between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1998 14s Division: .................................................. Born between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1998 12s Division: .................................................. Born January 1, 1998 or later

NATIONAL JUNIOR RANKING SYSTEM The USTA uses a Points Per Round Combined Ranking System (PPR) to annually rank junior players and publishes weekly National Standings Lists. Ranking Points are earned by winning singles and doubles matches at various types of USTA national tournaments and designated ITF tournaments. Extra Ranking Points, called Bonus Points, are earned for winning singles matches over highly-ranked players. Ranking Points are combined (with greater weight placed on Ranking Points earned in singles) for a player’s Ranking Point total and players are ordered based on this total. A comprehensive description of the USTA Points Per Round Combined Ranking System is on the USTA website. Go to www.USTA.com and click on Player Development/Junior Competition. Once on the Junior Competition page, click on Contact Us in the right navigation bar. Alternatively, click on the link below. http://www.usta.com/Youth-Tennis/Junior-Competition/Ranking/
