NATIONAL IMAGE. Estimado Amigos, my name is Jose Ro-driguez and I’m the CEO of National Image. National Image was officially founded in 1971. Our original name was National Incorporated Mexican-American Govern-ment Employees (IMAGE).

National Incorporated Mexi-can-American Government Employees (IMAGE) was or-ganized for the purpose of assisting Spanish-speaking Americans interested in gov-ernment service and develop-ing upward mobility for those in Civil Service jobs.

In the 1990s, the membership of National Incorporated Mexican-American Govern-ment Employees (IMAGE) voted to update the organiza-tion’s name to be more inclu-sive of all Spanish speaking

people. The name was up-date to National Image, Inc.

EDUCATION—EDUCATION—EDUCATION. A little about myself. I was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States at the age of three. I grew up in Florida and shortly after graduating from High School, I joined the United States Air Force.

While serving in the military, I took evening college courses and attained an Associates Degree in Vehicle Mainte-nance, an Associates Degree in Financial Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

After retiring from the mili-tary, I became a defense con-tractor at the Pentagon. I continued my learning experi-ence and through evening courses, I earned a Master’s

Degree in Business Admin-istration (MBA). Shortly after earning my MBA, I became a Civil Servant with the Depart-ment of the Air Force. A few years later, I moved to the Department of Defense level.

Since 2004, I have been as-sisting college students with applying for Federal jobs on USA Jobs. In 2011, I joined National Image and have con-tinued to help students and working adults with USA Jobs and reviewing /providing re-sumes tips.

We’ve had many success sto-ries—not only for Federal jobs, but also for private sec-tor jobs. When our efforts help someone gain employ-ment—it’s a WIN-WIN situa-tion for the person and the entire Hispanic Community.

The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey: Four Reasons to Take the Survey Posted May 14,

2015 at 3:00 PM by Katherine Archuleta. Real change in the workplace comes from the bottom

up. Each employee has important feedback to give and now is the time for your voice to be

heard. The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey provides senior leaders and managers with data

that shows what works well and what needs to be improved within each agency. I know some

Federal employees aren’t really sure why they should take the survey. Here are four things you

should know about why it’s important to participate.

1. Your voice is important. The FEVS asks for your opinion on a wide range of topics, such as

training, job satisfaction, performance appraisals, work-life programs, and management.

Agencies use this valuable information to improve their organizations.

2. Your responses are confidential. Individual FEVS responses cannot be linked back to you. No

one – not even your supervisor – will know how you answered. The reason we insist on

confidentiality is, we need your candid and unfiltered feedback.

3. Your participation matters. The FEVS is sent to a sample of employees, so not every Federal

worker gets a survey every year. If you received one this year, your participation is im-

portant and will serve as a crucial voice for employees like you. If you’re not sure if you re-

ceived an invitation, look for an email from OPM.

4. You will have an impact. Leaders across the government pay close attention to FEVS scores.

Thanks to new tools from OPM, including an online tool called Unlocktalent.gov, agency

leaders can use the results in new and significant ways. With Unlocktalent.gov, they can

slice and dice the data in ways that give them insights at every level of the agency, even

individual offices.

I know you work hard to get the job done each and every day. You’re the expert in understand-

ing what it’s like to work for your agency. So, tell us what’s working and what’s not. The survey

is open until early June. Your responses will help us continue to build a world-class workforce

that serves the needs of the American people.

Seeking Nominations: 2015 Woman and HEPM of the Year Awards – Due Date June 30, 2015.

National Image, Inc. is soliciting nominations for the Woman of the Year Award. The Woman of

the Year Award honors an individual who has significantly contributed to the Hispanic Commu-

nity. Anyone may be submitted for this award. Submit a one-pager on how the person has

made contributions and their significant results to the Hispanic Community. National Image,

Inc. is soliciting nominations for the Hispanic Employment Program Manager (HEPM) of the

Year. The HEPM of the Year Award honors an individual who has significantly contributed to

increasing Hispanic representation (recruitment, career development and retention) in the fed-

eral workforce. Anyone in a HEPM or collateral HEPM position may be submitted for this award.

Submit a one-pager on how the person has made contributions and their significant results in-

creasing Hispanic representation in the federal workforce. Eligibility Period: January 01, 2014 –

December 31, 2014.

Seeking Nomination: 2015 Military/Uniformed Services & Civilian Meritorious Service Awards

– Due Date June 30, 2015. National Image, Inc. is soliciting nominations for the 2015 Military/

Uniformed Services & Civilian Meritorious Service Award. The Military/Uniformed Services &

Civilian Meritorious Service Awards honor military/ uniformed services members and civilians,

men and women, who have supported their component mission, overseas contingency opera-

tions, or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of their respective com-

ponent.

Invitation to Employee Resource Groups

National Image cordially invites Hispanic Professionals to apply for a NTP Scholarship. This

scholarship is a complimentary registration to the National Image 43rd NTP at the Marriott

Medical Center Houston (Sept 21-24, 2015). This scholarship does not include airfare/travel

nor hotel registration. We ask the scholarship winner to register at the NTP contracted hotel as

it is the best value to the government and attendees. Please submit your resume and an essay.

The essay should be in APA format with no more than five pages (5) in length (including cover

and reference page) and should detail your Hispanic Community Service. Please email to Jose

Did you know a Klingon Chancellor is Hispanic

Rosanna DeSoto was born on September 2, 1950 in San Jose, California, USA. She is a Mexican-

American actress who has performed in films and television. Best known for her roles in Stand

and Deliver, for which she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female.

She is also widely known for La Bamba(1987), Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)

and Family Business (1989). She played (Azetbur) the daughter of the Klingon Chancellor in Star

Trek VI.

In the Star Trek movie, she became Chancellor upon her father’s assignation. You may remem-

ber her in the movie La Bamba where she played Richie Valens mother (Connie Valenzuela).

43rd National Training Program (NTP) Scholarship

National Image cordially invites any Hispanic Employee Resource Group (ERG) to become a Na-

tional Image Chapter. Turn an existing ERG into a chapter. What does this mean? You keep

your ERG status while also being associated with National Image. National Image will waive

your chapter initiation fee. You will need to have ten (10) due paying members in order to be

recognized as a Chapter. What are the benefits of membership? For federal government em-

ployees, the main benefit is being represented at the federal level. An ERG usually only repre-
