The project will address all goals of the GWP strategy, and directly contribute to Goal No.2 of GWP Strategy: address critical development challenges, and Goal No.3 Reinforce knowledge sharing and communication.
WP 2 of WACREP – National & Development Sector Plans
This Work Package is focused on ensuring that at the national level investment options are developed aimed at securing water resources for climate resilient development.
The expected results from the work package:
1. Multi-stakeholder platform identified and strengthened,
2. National climate impact and vulnerability studies identified and used to improve understanding on climate impacts,
3. Adaptation responses for improving water security and climate resilience identified from sector plans,
Support regional teams in delivering at country level on integrating water security and climate resilience into national development planning, decision-making processes.

National development plans and/or sectorial plans that prioritise Water Security and Climate Resilience investment options with focus on agriculture and water.

Actions to be taken by WACREP -Specify what will be done, by whom, when and where
1.2.1 Develop tools (knowledge products, guidelines, templates, training material) to enable regional and country teams promote climate resilience in national development planning, and decision-making processes
Will conduct a national dialogue on delta issues and their effective solutions to assist BDP Team in preparation of Delta Plan.
Bangladesh Delta Development Policy and Strategy prepared and shared with BDP Team (by forming a balance BWP team for interacting the BDP Team and compile well prepared documents).

1.2.3 Propose, advocate and/or assist in the development of new policy, guidelines and/or action plans to promote climate resiliency in the water sector.
To establish Bangladesh Delta Knowledge Portal to share experience on delta issues with other deltas.
Database prepared and Bangladesh Delta Knowledge Portal Functional.
1.2.4 Develop portfolio of investments in the areas of infrastructure, information and/or institutions to promote climate resilience.
To conduct dialogue for financing the investment programmes of Delta Plan.
Develop portfolio of investment in the area of infrastructure,information and/or institutions to promote climate resilience (Comprehensive Report on financing mechanism).

1.2.2 Provide technical support and knowledge products to promote climate resiliency in existing water and agriculture sectorial programmes.
To support the implementation of 4 LAPAs (Local Adaptation Plan for Action) under implementation in a District with particular focus on water resources
Support provided to implement 4 LAPAs as demonstration projects for further replication.
1.2.3 Propose, advocate and/or assist in the development of new policy, guidelines and/or action plans to promote climate resiliency in the water sector.
To prepare mitigation plan on flood and drought for lower part of Rapti River in BankeDistrict.
Climate vulnerability and gap assessment report prepared.
