National Day Celebration of Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico On 26 th September 2015, GTU celebrated the National Days of Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico. National Day Celebration of

Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico

On 26th September 2015, GTU celebrated the National Days of Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico. The Global Country Study Report (GCSR) is a two-semester project in the curriculum of GTU’s Global MBA program. Since, last three years, MBA students of GTU are studying various aspects like culture, politics, environment, economics and demography of countries of the world. They identify the bilateral trade opportunity of Gujarat and India with the country of study and propose a detailed business plan to establish or improve the business in a specific industry.

26th September 2015,at GTU Chandkheda Campus

During the academic year 2015-16, students of GTU MBA institutes are studying more than 100 countries. GTU has started the unique activity of celebrating National/Independence Days of the countries, being studied under the GCSR program.

The national day Celebration began with lamp lighting by all the guests. As a convention of the National Day Celebration, all the participants and Guests recited the national anthems of India Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico.

To celebrate the national days of Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico faculty members and students of Grow More Faculty of Management - who are studying “Mozambique”, Shri H N Shukla Institute of Management Studies - who are studying “Sweden”, Patel Group of Institutes, - who are studying “Mexico” and Somlalit Institute of Business Management - who are studying “Brazil” participated in the event at Gujarat Technological University.

Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, GTU welcomed the audience and appreciated the initiative of National Day Celebration, organized by the Centre for Global Business Studies. He highlighted the objectives of the MBA- GCSR program. He said that in spite of large business opportunities in Gujarat, sometimes students do not get good jobs because of their poor focus on career. He asked the faculty members to positively engage students with more innovative teaching tools such as case study, role play etc. He highlighted the need of more global orientation in teaching-learning process.

Mr. K H Patel, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR and former Ambassador to Rwanda addressed the students and

faculties.

He said, “GCSR provides great opportunity to the students to learn

Global Business practices”. He highlighted the significance of

Brazil and India relationship, and importance of Brazil in Latin

America and Caribbean region. He appreciated Indian foreign

policy. He focused on bilateral investment between India and Brazil as

Brazilian companies do have advantages in automobiles, IT, mining, energy, biofuels, and

footwear, whereas the Indian companies do have advantages in IT, Pharmaceutical,

Energy, agri-business, mining, and engineering sectors. He said that Indian companies such

as TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cadilla, Mahindra, L&T, Renuka Sugars, United Phosphorus, and

Polaris have their presence in Brazil.

Prof. N.K.Goyal, President, CMAI association of India and Advisor of GCSR program interacted with the students and appreciated efforts of GTU for having such successful celebration. He compared india with Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico. He highlighted unique features of Indian business.

Dr. Shivendra Gupta, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR, asked the students to improve their English proficiency language. He highlighted the importance of English in current global business environment. He suggested the students to be confident in each and every situation. He

highlighted the importance of commitment and focus in student life.

Mr. Sunil Modi, Member, Board of Advisors Committee for GCSR, shared his global experiences. He highlighted the importance of India and Sweden relationship as India is Sweden's 19th largest export market and third largest trade partner after China and Japan in Asia. He said that the main Swedish exports to India are in the area of Pharmaceuticals, Paper & Pulp products, Chemicals, Engineering products and Telecom equipment, whereas main items of Indian exports are Chemical products, Food products, and semi- manufactured and manufactured goods. Further, he highlighted the significance of India and Mozambique relationship.

Mr. Amit Parikh, shared his global experiences defined the term GURU as -G means Guiding, U means Understanding, R means Renewing, and U means Uplifting. He said that commitment is the most important quality in the human life.

Mr. Keyur Darji, Deputy Director–GTU proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers on behalf of GTU for gracing the National Day Celebration and sharing their experiences with the participants and faculty members of all the four institutes.

In the Technical session, the students from all the four institutes presented the brief on the STEEPLED Analysis done on their respective countries, analysis of the prospective industries of the GCSR country, Prospects in Gujarat and the same at the allocated other State of India.

They also discussed their learning outcomes of the company/industry visit during the semester GAP.

The panel members have given their comments on the area of improvements with respect to the presentations on specific country.

Cultural activity during National Day Celebration

At the end of the celebration, Centre for Global Business Studies- Gujarat Technological University presented awards to all the four institutes for their active participation in the National Day Celebration of Mozambique, Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico.
