safety-net health care organizations that utilize a volunteer/staff model to provide arange of medical, dental, pharmacy, vision and/or behavioral health services toeconomically disadvantaged individuals. Such clinics/pharmacies are 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, or operate as a program component or affiliate of a 501(c)(3)organization. Entities that otherwise meet the above definition, but charge anominal/sliding fee to patients, may still be considered Free or Charitable Clinics orCharitable Pharmacies provided essential services are delivered regardless of the patient’sability to pay.  Free or Charitable Clinics and Charitable Pharmacies restrict eligibility fortheir services to individuals who are uninsured, underinsured and/or have limited or noaccess to primary, specialty or prescription health care.

The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is the only nonprofit 501c(3)organization whose mission is solely focused on the issues and needs of the medicallyunderserved throughout the nation and the more than 1,400 Free and Charitable Clinicsand Charitable Pharmacies that serve them. Founded in 2001 and headquartered nearWashington, D.C., the NAFC is working to ensure that the medically underserved haveaccess to affordable, quality health care and strives to be a national voice promotingquality health care for all.  The NAFC has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency fromGuideStar.  For more information about the NAFC, please visit www.nafcclinics.org.

NAFC 2020 CHARITABLE

HEALTH CARE SYMPOSIUM

Annually, the NAFC holds its Charitable HealthCare Symposium, a national educationalconference that brings together medical directors,clinical and pharmacy personnel, management-level staff, medical students and volunteers fromAmerica’s 1,400+ Free and Charitable Clinics andCharitable Pharmacies. The 2020 Symposium will be held in beautifulIndianapolis, Indiana at the JW MarriottIndianapolis from October 25-27th.  The NAFC anticipates 450+ attendees at the2020 Symposium.
