35 lakh citizens take part in “Gandagi Bharat Chhodo-
Madhya Pradesh” campaign
• As many as 35 lakh citizens took part in the massive “Gandagi Bharat
Chhodo-Madhya Pradesh campaign launched in 378 urban bodies from
August 16 to 30 in the state.
• In order to give shape to the Prime Minister’s call, Urban Development
and Housing Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh instructed to convert this
campaign into a mass campaign. Work was undertaken by dividing the
campaign into five themes.
• The campaign was divided into five themes.
• First theme was – Cleanliness Oath and cleanliness and maintenance of
personal toilets.

• Third - Cleanliness in Covid conditions, biomedical waste, disposal of used
masks, sanitization and cleanliness of Covid Quarantine Centres and
special sanitation campaign for their toilets.

wastes such as sanitary pads, diapers and medicines, etc. from being mixed
up with the common waste
• Fifth theme was- launching a special cleanliness campaign for public
places and public toilets. The goal of each theme was to reach out to more
citizens and make them aware.

India ranks in top 50 countries for 1st time in Global Innovation Index
• India ranked in the top 50 countries for the first time in the Global
Innovation Index, which was released today. India jumped four
positions to rank at 48th since 2019.
• The index compiled by World Intellectual Property Index (WIPO)
presented the latest global trends and annual innovation ranking for
131 countries.
• Moving up four positions since last year, India became the third most
innovative lower middle economy in the world

• Government has blocked 118 Mobile Apps including PUBG which are
prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India,
Security of State and Public Order
• PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik, PUBG MOBILE LITE, WeChat
Work, WeChat reading, Cyber Hunter, LifeAfter and Warpath are
among the 118 banned mobile apps.
• The decision to ban such Apps was taken by the Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology

Cabinet gives nod to 'Mission Karmayogi', National Programme for Civil Services
Capacity Building
Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building.
• The scheme will lay the foundation for capacity building for Civil
Servants so they remain entrenched in Indian culture while they learn
from best practices across the world.
• Mission Karmayogi aims to prepare the Indian Civil Servants for the
future by making them more creative, constructive, imaginative,
innovative, proactive, professional, progressive, energetic, enabling,
transparent and technology-enabled.
• The Capacity Building Commission has been proposed with a view to
ensure a uniform approach in managing and regulating the capacity
building ecosystem on collaborative and co-sharing basis.
• To cover around 46 lakh Central employees, a sum of Rs 510.86 crore
will be spent over a period of 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
• The expenditure is partly funded by multilateral assistance to the tune
of USD 50 million.
• A wholly owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be set up.
• The SPV will create and operationalize the content , market place and
manage key business services of iGOT-Karmayogi platform.

• Mr Rajeev Kumar today assumed charge as the new Election
Commissioner of the country. A 1984 batch IAS officer, Mr Kumar
retired as the Finance Secretary.

India, Russia declared joint winners of 2020 Online FIDE Chess Olympiad
• India and Russia were declared joint winners of the 2020 Online
FIDE Chess Olympiad after the final was marred by internet
disconnection last night.
• Russia were initially declared winners after two Indian players, Nihal
Sarin and Divya Deshmukh, lost out on time in the final after
suffering a disconnection with the server
• India had appealed against the controversial decision.
• However, the international chess federation Fide's president Arkady
Dvorkovich decided to award the gold medal to both the teams.
• This was the first time Fide was holding the Olympiad in an online
format.
• India had reached the finals of the FIDE Chess Olympiad for the first
time.
