This document provides information for teachers and lecturers about the coursework
component of this course in terms of the skills, knowledge and understanding that are
assessed. It must be read in conjunction with the course specification. Valid for session 2018–19 only.

Instructions for candidates This assessment applies to the assignment for National 5 Administration and IT.
This assignment has 70 marks out of a total of 120 marks available for the course
assessment.
It assesses the following skills, knowledge and understanding
using IT functions in word-processing/desktop publishing and presentations to produce
and process information
using technology for investigation
using technology for electronic communication
problem-solving
administration theory.
Your teacher or lecturer will let you know how the assessment will be carried out and any
required conditions for doing it.
In this assessment, you have to work through a series of tasks
which assess the skills, knowledge and understanding listed above
within 3 hours (excluding printing time)
in a maximum of two sittings — where additional printing time is required, this should
be completed immediately after each sitting.
This is a closed book assessment. However, you can use the Internet when specifically
instructed to do so.
Your teacher or lecturer will provide the following electronic files for you to use during the

Assessment task You are employed as an Admin Assistant for Flavours of Scotland, an organisation that runs
food festivals showing the best of Scottish food across the country.
Iain Weir, the Managing Director, has asked you to help organise and support the Dumfries
Food Festival. The festival will take place at New Abbey Road, Dumfries, DG2 7LU, from
9.30 am – 4.30 pm on 29 June 2019.

Press Release by following all instructions and using the information below.
Print one copy.
In your e-mail application, create a signature block showing your name and job title.
You should use this on all e-mails you send.

Complete and print the file Flavours of Scotland.
Design and print an adult ticket for the Dumfries Food Festival.
The size of the ticket must be no larger than 10 cm x 15 cm. Use a variety of fonts and
text formats in your design.

In the e-diary for June, enter the Dumfries Food Festival as an all day event including
the address. Add the following meetings (with location) and the task.
Print the diary in weekly view for each of the last 2 weeks in June, showing all
entries. Print details of the task.
Update the e-diary for a site visit in Dumfries on 3 June 2019 from 8.00 am − 6.00 pm.
Set a 12 hour reminder for this appointment. Print evidence of the reminder, showing
the details and location.

Create a presentation showing the items to be discussed at the first Dumfries Food
Festival Team Briefing. Apply a suitable design template or background, and insert
action buttons on all slides.

You will be using the Trip Advisor website regularly to book accommodation for
festivals across the country. Access the Internet and add this website to your
favourites/bookmarks.
Print evidence of your favourites/bookmarks, showing this website. Print the results

Iain has asked you to complete the information leaflet for the food festival. Update
the file Information Leaflet by following all instructions and using the information
below.
Print a copy of the completed file as a 4-page booklet on one A4 page.
