  • Ahlan wa sahlan! Welcome! Dubai awaits you...

Dear Fellow Developers, Policy Makers, Finance Professionalsand Experts,

Weve learnt from the experiences of countries across the worldthat housing, especially housing built for the poor and middleclass, is a complex subject involving many stakeholders. For thelong-term success of affordable housing, issues need to beviewed not just from the objective of planning and execution, butfrom the viewpoints of sustainability and ownership as well.

CREDAI is well aware of the immense challenges that India facestoday, as it sets in motion a massive initiative to build affordablehousing projects on a large scale across our vast nation.

Private real estate developers will play a major role in creating thesupply of affordable homes. This is the time for us - developers, financers, technical experts and policy makers - to educate ourselves, debate the problems and understand the opportunitiesawaiting us while we face the challenge of such a daunting task.

NATCON 2010 is the place to be if you are looking to understandaffordable housing from a development perspective in a practicalmanner. I would urge you to put the event, which will take placefrom 23-25 January 2010 in Dubai, on your calendars right now.Hope to see you there!

    Sincerely,

    Kumar GeraChairman, CREDAI

    Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to invite you to register for the most anticipatedreal estate event of the year. NATCON 2010 will take us to thepristine shores and fantastic urban scapes of Dubai in January. For those of you who have had the NATCON experience, you willknow that the high quality of speakers, innovative formats and relevant subject selection make it a critical mega-event, onewhere you can network with the best and come away with themost value.

In Dubai, we will address a theme that has intrigued governmentsand developers worldwide and has recently found itself at the veryheart of the realty scenario in India. Affordable housing, withrecent figures pegging urban demand at 24.7 million homes, is forthe first time being comprehensively addressed by the model of public-private partnerships. With the government earnest aboutpromoting it and developers seeing it as a serious market, weindustry insiders need to debate vital aspects like policy, planningand design, feasibility, delivery models, costing, funding and a lotmore.

NATCON 2010 will do just that and its vital for you to be there, sothat you can understand the dynamics of affordable housing inIndia, the issues and possible solutions for developers to be trulyinvolved.

    With warm regards,

    Santosh RungtaPresident, CREDAI

As real estate is one of Indias key economy drivers, CREDAI continuously strives towardsmaking the industry more structured and progressive. CREDAI sets an ethical code of conduct for its members and continuously informs, educates andupdates its members of latest techniques of construction and statistical information through seminars, workshops and discussions. It holds its annual convention in India and abroad.

    Major Objectives:

The major objectives of the CREDAI are as enlisted below: To perpetuate an ethical code of conduct, which is self- imposed & mandatory for all the member developers/ builders of CREDAI to maintain integrity &transparency in the profession of Real Estate Development.

To facilitate easy housing finance availability to theproperty purchases by working in close coordination withthe leading house finance institutions & banks.

  • Affordable HousingThemeEveryone needs a decent affordable homeand the sense of place and hope for thefuture which comes with it. The phenomenaldemand for affordable housing, to the tune of25 million housing units in Indian urban areasalone makes affordable housing a focusedmarket for real estate developers. Startingwith the National Urban Housing and HabitatPolicy tabled in 2007, the government haslaid steady emphasis on bridging the gap in housing. Whereas earlier, LIG/EWS housingwas considered the domain of the public sector, a fresh approach to addressing housing shortage has been displayed by theprivate sector over the last few years.

Private real estate developers are alreadybeginning to play a significant role in this context. However, these efforts are still smallin the context of the huge demand. The wayahead is still not very clear as significant hurdles strew the path, like availability andcost of land, overregulation of real estate, and access to low cost building technologyand materials. Funding for affordable housingis also a serious barrier.

NATCON 2010 will bring the best mindstogether in the private sector to debate practical initiatives from developer community to find solutions to these pressingproblems. Can more Research andDevelopment, collaborative mechanisms, innovative funding mechanisms and othersolutions be found to make affordable

housing in urban India a reality? Can we learnfrom the international experiences in affordable housing by the private sector? TheDubai meet will provide ample opportunity toseek international expertise and provide aclosed door environment to participating realtors to find real solutions.

India is poised to provide housing to its teeming urban masses today. Private developers will put their best resourcestogether at NATCON 2010 to ask some hard questions and debate some real solutions to address issues such as Costs-technologies-escalations, financing to customers, markets, effective Systems of post possession maintenances, building volumes without diluting quality. Can Rental housing/redevelopment/slum redevelopment be undertaken by developersfor finding affordable housing solutions?

Who will attendJoin industry veterans from Indias top developer organizations, financers, fund managers, bankers, researchers, real estateprofessionals and reputed internationalexperts to discuss opportunities in affordablehousing.
