Throughout our working lives, most of us will have many
different jobs, each requiring a different level or set of
skills. No matter what, we must always demonstrate
responsibility, integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Having a good attitude means taking pride in yourself and
what you do. It is also a combination of qualities. Someone
with a good attitude (whether at school or work) arrives on
time, manages their time wisely, takes responsibility for
their own behavior, and works well with others. Your atti-
tude is also shown through the way you dress. Looking
clean and neat and dressing appropriately for the occasion
can tell a lot about your personality and attitude.
Don’t forget that March is the last
club meeting for the school year.
As we wrap up the year, please
don’t forget to take advantage of
the awesome opportunities we
have throughout the rest of spring
and summer such as summer camp, 4-H University,
and leader training. Keep in mind that the 4-H
Office is open year round and we are here to help
you!

4-H Day at the Capital-Wednesday, May 29
Plans for the 12th Annual 4-H Day at the Capital is in full swing! Last year’s
function was excellent, with over 1400 participants. We would like to again
see a large number of participants in 2013. The program will begin on the
steps of the capitol at 10:00 a.m. with state AgCenter administrators, 4-H
officers and elected officials welcoming the group. Following the short
program, participants should make plans to visit with legislators. All 4-Hers
are encouraged to bring lunch and picnic on the grounds of the capitol.
Would your school group like to attend? We hope so! Please contact Mrs.
Gwen at 357-2224.

4-H Summer Camp! May 27-May 31 Swimming, canoeing, archery, volleyball, basketball, softball, kickball, ping pong, para-
chute games, line dancing, arts, crafts and more...Camping is one of the most valuable
experiences a child can have. It’s a learning experience that helps boys and girls appre-
ciate the outdoors, live together as a group, get along with others and appreciate people with different in-
terests and backgrounds. Many fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys and girls participate in 4-H Camp Grant
Walker. The camp is held at the LSU AgCenter’s Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center, an 80-acre campsite
near Pollock, La., on Highway 8 about 15 miles northeast of Alexandria, La.
DEPOSIT DUE: MARCH 22; FINAL PAYMENT DUE: APRIL 19TH

Louisiana 4-H’ers will compete for best in the state in more than 40 events ranging from plant
identification, photography and computer simulation to speechmaking and fashion design. In
addition, almost 300 students will take part in the noncompetitive learning event called Clover
College, which includes seven hours of instruction over the three days. During 4-H U,
participants will be introduced to aspects of life that college students experience on an everyday
basis. Students will tour a working dairy, a biomedical center and athletic facilities. 4-H members
who were 13 years old before January 1 are eligible to attend 4-H University to be held on the
campus of LSU in Baton Rouge. 4-H U gives you the opportunity to meet 4-H'ers from throughout the state and compete
for trips and prizes through a variety of project-area contests.

NSU Elementary Lab School Garden
Under the direction of their 4-H Club Leader
Lisa Wiggins, NSU Elementary Lab School
4-H members have a beautiful school
garden! The students throughout the school
get plenty of physical activity by gardening.
They have learned
about plants, nature
and the outdoors, and
how fresh food is
grown. Good job NSU
E-Lab.
