The background of climate Why Energy storage?

Challenge from climate

As consumption of fossil fuel, we are facing a serious

problem of Global warming, which would bring a lot

of negative influence to our ecological conditions,

environments and even to our lives.

Commitment from Paris

At 12th December 2015, Paris agreement has been

approved by each UN member, which means

everybody from now on should take responsibility to

reduce carbon emission. The total objective is to

control emission at 40 billion tons before 2030.

Variable generation affects grid operations

New energy and Grid

In order to reduce traditional

fossil fuel, more and more new

energies have been put into

use, however they have a vital

defect when grid connected

due to their characters, called

fluctuation, which will affects

grid operation greatly when

they are unstable

Energy storage is the solution

for stable power supply!!!

Page 7: Narada bess presentation

Stored Energy Solutions for a Demanding World!

Adjustment for new energy Why Energy storage?

Shave peak and fill valley

The new energy (especially solar power) is usually unstable, influenced greatly by environment,

as a result the generated power would easily impact end users or grid power ,

while storage system is a good solution to eliminate such impact

Market prospect Why Energy storage?

Attractive market and big Chance

According to investigation of BCG(the Boston Consulting Group), by year 2030 , the total demand of global

energy storage will be up to 330GWh, mainly in three aspects: a. stable power supply for grid; b. power

balance for distributed energy; c. for island or off-grid market, whose capacity is about 25 to 50 billion euro

In a battery pack, the one with small capacity will easily get over charge

and over discharge, so the service life of whole pack shall be influenced

With such technology, the energy could be

transferred and balanced between each battery

in the pack at any time without any energy loss

How to make profit ESS Business Model

It is profitable to choose some special regions

for project location where the price difference

of electricity is quite big during a whole day.

As right diagram shows, the difference

between day and night is: USD0.171 - 0.049 =

USD0.122, which can cover the cost of energy

storage system, and the rest is profit

Select project location

For sure those regions with various subsidies

are also welcome , that helps a lot to speed

up the payback period of project investment

Features & Benefits Narada active container

More PV energy extraction

Our unique architecture extracts more energy

from the solar panels with the mlt charging

regime, by actively extending the PCS’s MPPT,

while it has already achieved full output

When DC:AC ratio is more than 1.1, the internal

DSP controls will dynamically optimize the ESS

voltage to maintain the inverter at maximum

output while also charging the batteries with

the excess energy from the Solar PV panels,

creating greater cash flow for our customers

Every module (module 1 to 5) within the rack will report its own status, warnings and alarms. Most of them are

repeated here as the M1000 will handle and store those status summaries, warning and alarms on top of

controlling the performance of each module. Beyond its control, monitoring and storage (max. 30 days)

function, it also communicates all the parameters from cell, module and rack info to the ExiNMS manager.

Data communication Narada auxiliary system

• Narada Client Servers are deigned to handle up to 10,000 nodes/ modules each and are able to store full site

information for 10 years+, which are meant to be operated in either core or client mode and fully redundant

• Client servers: 1&2/ 3&4 will back-up each other and communicate to the PCS control center A&B respectively

through Ethernet or any other public or private protocol.

• Core servers: A&B are expected to communicate with customer’s Network Operating Center(NOC)

The rack design builds on the resilience of

the modules. Each rack can contain up to 5

modules connected in parallel and fused to

the 900V high voltage bus bar.

The drawing at left side shows 4 modules

in the rack. Most of the racks in the

solution will have 4modules, but 25% will

also be populated with a 5th module. The

height of the 5 module rack is 2.54
