Napoleon’s young lifeNapoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15th 1769, in Ajaccio, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. His dad was Carlo Bonaparte and his mum was Letizia Ramolino.

Why is he famous?Many people ask that question, and this is the answer. Napoleon was a French military general, the first Emperor of France during the Naploeonic war (1803-1815) and one of the world's greatest military leaders! He became the Emperor on May 18th 1804. He was educated in the Military Academy (which was in Paris), the school was for boys age 10-16.

The Battle of Waterloo- 18th June 1815The Battle of Waterloo is one of the most famous battles in history, the battle was fought by France on one side and Great Britain, Prussia and their allies on the other. The battle was a victory for the British and the Prussians. The battle of Waterloo was the last attempt by Napoleon to establish himself in France and Europe. The battle marked the end of the Napoleonic wars which took the lives of 5,000,000 people. After Napoleon surrendered to the British, he was exiled (barred from your native country) to Saint Helena.

Napoleon’s siblingsNapoleon had 7 siblings, 4 were boys and 3 were girls. Joseph, Louis, Jerome and Lucien were all his brothers and Pauline, Caroline and Elisa were his sisters.

Napoleon’s personal lifeNapoleon was married twice, his first wife was Josephine de Beauharnaiss and his second wife was Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie. He divorced his first wife because she could not give him a child, whereas his second wife gave him him a son (Napoleon the II)

Napoleon Bonaparte’s death

He died on 5th May 1821 at Longwood on the island of Saint Helena, he was 51 years old. On his death certificate it said that Napoleon died of stomach cancer, but many people have questioned this and said he was poisoned. After his death, a Death Mask was made of Napoleons face, this was made by a mixture of wax or plaster.
