More Money More For Your Money
I honestly have waited as long as I possibly could, but the time has come when I must adjust the advertising rates to reflect theincreased cost of producing the magazine. Over the past year, Everything Equine has received so much support from the commu-nity and I hope for your continued support. I believe you will find that the rate increases are modest and fair. Even with an in-crease, Everything Equine offers some of the most affordable advertising around. November and December’s rates will remain thesame; however expect a small increase for January. And when I say small, I mean small. While my cost of production has morethan doubled, the classified rates will only increase by 2 to 6 dollars. Business rates will increase approximately 10%. Consider-ing what you get for your advertising dollar, Everything Equine’s rates are the best around. Everything Equine is sent to over 200stores, mainly in Central and South Florida. As a bonus for the advertisers, each magazine is also available on the internet at noextra cost. Classified ads are also posted on Everything Equine’s Bulletin Board at no charge. To view the web site and for a linkto the Bulletin Board, visit www.everything-equine.com. Do not forget the hyphen (-). Thank you, Melody

All right folks, step right up! If you don’t want to pay $4.69 for gas, no problem; I have the perfectvehicle for you. Needs no gas, no oil, or even a battery, just a little grass and water will do theseanimals fine. Now everyone has different needs, so choose from the following models:
1. Trail Horse- Your average run around town animal. Has the energy to get where youare going, the brain to find the best way to go, big enough to carry the normal sizedAmerican.
2. The Arabian- perfect for those who travel long distances in a day andtry to multi- task while driving. Although the Arabian may not go to your home or officewith out specific instruction, it WILL go somewhere.
3. The Draft- Calling all soccer moms. This big guy can carry the whole team, theirgear, and snacks. Just like the big machines, this guy will require more fuel, and hisshoes will be more expensive than the compact model.
4. The Western Pleasure- The right vehicle for the high end white-collar workers. Thisanimal works harder and requires more special knowledge so only the best can figure this out. Be sureto take your cell phone. You won’t be stuck in traffic, you just won’t be getting anywhere fast.
5. The Parelli- Salesmen, stay at home moms, and high school kids will all enjoy this dream. You canload him down with flapping Wal-Mart bags, ask him to walk in places a horse wont fit, and you candance with him as you listen to the latest tunes.
6. The Walker- Do not be afraid to stop at Starbucks with one. You will get there instyle and you can get your coffee to go!
7. The Drill- He can accelerate instantly and maintain that exact speed through traffic. Not to worry about wrecks, because this model recovers instantly and is seldomdamaged. He has even learned to maintain proper spacing to safely avoid contact with others whilezooming in and out of traffic. He can u-turn on a dime, stop instantly, and often knows which way to
go without any guidance from the driver. Only drawback to this model is that he musthear loud county music or he will lose forward motion and eventually just coast toa stop.
8. The Dressage- Perfect for those who live by their daily planner. If youschedule every task precisely, then this is the model for you.
9. The Cross Country- Hang tight! You won’t be late with this model. You will get thereleaps and bounds before anyone else. Strap your possessions down or you will lose timebacktracking for them.
10. The Ranch- The most dependable animal available. He will go where ever you ask him to, at whatever speed is appropriate. You can tie him to the stop sign and he will be there when you get back.Best of all, this model has been specially engineered to be able to go without water for days and stayfat and slick by eating sagebrush and dead prairie grass.
Of course all models are available in base colors (sorrel, bay, black). Special order colors areavailable (dun, grey, palomino) and for an additional fee. Custom paint jobs are also available
(overo, tobiaono, blanket, leopard).
No horse is sold with a warranty; however, maintenance plans are available in theevent brakes, steering, or accelerator fail.

WE DON’T HORSE AROUND!
Derby HorseA jogger running down a country road is startled as a horse yells at him,“Hey-come over here buddy.”The jogger is stunned but runs over to the fence where the horse isstanding and asks, “Were you talking to me?”The horse replies, “Sure was, man. I’ve got a problem. I won theKentucky Derby a few years ago and this farmer bought me and now allI do is pull a plow. I’m sick of it. Why don’t you run up to the houseand offer him $5,000 to buy me. I’ll make you some money ‘cuz I canstill run.”The jogger thought to himself,“Boy a talking horse!” Dollar signs startedappearing in his head. So he runs to the house. The old farmer is sittingon the porch. The jogger tells the farmer, “Hey man, I’ll give you$5,000 for that old broken down nag you’ve got in the field.”The farmer replies, “Son you can’t believe anything that horse says. He’s never even been to Kentucky.”

wounds. He had every worm possible, including heartworms. He hasnow received his first treatment for heartworms and will have the next
treatment in November. He’s doing very well and should recoverquickly. He is a very sweet guy, who just needs time to overcome the
trauma he’s been through. He is not only very friendly, but he also walksperfectly on a leash. He looks up at you for direction and will do as youask. He is looking for a somewhat quiet, easygoing home. He doesn’t
need anymore chaos than he has already been through. If you’d like to meet Jazz, call 450-6301 or go to collierrescue.com

Riding a dead horse into the 21st Century
The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from generation to genera-tion, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strat-egy is to dismount. In modern corporate America and government, however, awhole range of far more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
• Buying a stronger whip.
• Changing riders.
• Threatening the horse with termination.
• Appointing a committee to study the horse.
• Sending a Congressional delegation to see how other countries ride dead horses.
• Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
• Reclassifying the dead horse as “living impaired.”
• Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
• Harnessing several dead horses together to increase the speed.
• Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse’s
performance.
• Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse’s
performance.
• Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries
lower overhead, and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line
than do some other horses.
• Rewriting the minimum performance requirements for all horses.
• Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.
• Keep reassessing the horse until it rises from the dead.

Riding WholeIt was my first day without a cast, or crutches, or anything. I was free to walk without
those unwanted assistants, but I didn’t feel free yet. I was still weighed down by my own
unending gloom and that caused hindrance enough with a whole leg. Everyone wanted me
to ride Thunder again, everyone but me. I kept telling them that I was still trying to walk
alone, how could I possibly ride a horse? Then Mom pointed out that I didn’t seem to
have much trouble running to pick up the phone. Caught in a trap of my own making, I
hate it when she does that... so they finally got me out to the barn where Thunder was
already saddled and ready as my father held the lead rope with a grin. “Don’t get use to this
because after today you’ll have to saddle him yourself,” he said. I didn’t trust myself to
respond, instead I went to mount my horse, throwing a dirty look over my shoulder; it a
was a particularly good scathing look too, if I do say so myself. So I mounted Thunder,
with minimal help, and even though I was nervous, I walked him out to the ring. I didn’t
need to finish one loop before I was grinning like a cat. I stayed out there trotting and
walking Thunder for at least an hour. How could I not have missed that, why was I so
reluctant to ride him again? As much as I hate to say it, I guess everyone else was right, just
because my leg was broken it doesn’t mean that I have to be broken too.

I have loved horses ever since I was born. I don’tknow about you, but without horses the world wouldnot be the same. I enjoy horse back riding, becausewhen a horse canters, I like the way the air flys in myface. When I was about three years old my parentswould take me horse back riding every Sunday.Everybody should have something that they love, wether it’s mom or dad or animals, but I love horses.
My favorite things about horses are the funny way theythink and all the different breeds. To begin with myfirst favorite thing is the funny way they think. When Iwas asking for a circle, Honey was playing a gamewith me by stopping behind my back. My secondfavorite thing about the way they think, is that everyhorse has good days and bad days, just like people! My next favorite thing is the different types of breeds.I saw an Arabian at a horse show and he was shiningin the sunlight. Ever since then, I have loved Arabians. My second favorite thing about breeds are the colors!Paint, bay... my favorite is the paint. I like the way thedark pops against the light of the coat.
In conclusion, everybody has a favorite animal, nomatter what, even if you are a boy! Without horses, the world would just not be the same.

I started riding when I was one. WhenI was still riding at my old barn I rodedressage/hunter. Now I am riding ahorse called Miss Chunk. She’s a realnice horse. When she looks at me herlips always hang down as if she’slaughing. When ever Breanne and I areplaying with her, she makes it fun forme. I am learning how tocommunicate with her. My favoritething about horses is theirpersonalities. Sometimes she lookslike she wants to smile! I also like toclean and ride horses. They willalways be my favorite! If there wereno horses in the world, I don’t thinkthat I could live because horses are mylife. They are animals that you canlove, They have the best attitude. When I grow up, I want to be a horsevet.
