I worked with a company specialising in designing high quality literature for people with disabilities and their carers. This work involved developing branding, book layouts and promotional material from initial concepts through to final prints.
I have also produced a number of creative photography books for weddings, christenings and other celebrations as well as working alongside an illustrator to produce a children’s book involving typesetting and creative typography.

About Me
I am passionate about graphic design, with particular emphasis on typography and colour. Teamwork and interacting with people brings out the best in me.
My strengths are enthusiasm, a hard working attitude, attention to detail and communication skills.
Having recently returned from six months travel after living in Sydney, I feel I’ve gained inspiration from the people, places and cultures I have experienced and I enjoyed developing my photography skills.
I have spent some time in West Africa and Kenya helping teach English as part of a voluntary action team and loved being immersed in another culture.
I also took a gap year to live and work in a deprived inner city area running youth clubs and teaching in a local school.
My hobbies include music, photography, dance and any kind of outdoor activity, particularly skiing and climbing.
I have a full UK drivers license.

Brief To design a catalogue for British Heart Foundation to show the range of resources they have available for children and schools.

BriefDesign a flyer to promote three new websites available for young people. The literature was to be given out at schools across the country.
ResponseAfter looking at options including a cartoon comic strip and a di-cut leaflet the client chose the door hanger above due to it’s relevance to teenagers. (Completed at Checkland Kindleysides Design Consultancy)
FeedbackThe project was well received and 10,000 leaflets were printed and used across the UK.

BriefDesign a flyer to educate young people on what to do in an emergency. The literature was to be given out at schools and events across the country.
ResponseWith this leaflet/poster a scrap book feel was used to create a tactile and relevant look to help relate to young people. This A3 double sided print folds into four to produce an A5 handout, which also unfolds into a first aid summary poster in the middle. (Completed at Checkland Kindleysides Design Consultancy)

BriefTo create three sub brands for George at ASDA’s clothing line to introduce personality and identity into the ‘petite’, ‘maternity’, and ‘plus size’ ranges while adhering to brand guidelines.
ResponseTo try and introduce personality the petite range was renamed ‘Perfectly Petite’ whilst a small stalk motif and a colourful curve were added to the maternity and plus size ranges. Above shows the POS header, blinkers, swing tickets and clothing labels. (Completed at Checkland Kindleysides Design Consultancy)
Feedback‘Perfectly Petite’ has been rolled out nationwide into ASDA stores which stock the petite range.

FeedbackThe cosmetics range has been re-branded and the project was extended to re-design the cosmetics packaging in order to keep in line with the new stand.

George at ASDA
BriefTo re-brand the cosmetics stand at ASDA with the new ‘George’ logo and add vibrance and life to the POS area. Also the client wanted to inspire the buyer about the new range and communicate the fantastic value.
Response A George ‘G’ pattern was created as a subtle background to the stand and vibrant photography was chosen to sit alongside product information to highlight certain products in the range. (Completed at Checkland Kindleysides Design Consultancy)

BriefTo redesign the Whittard website with a very English, clear and slightly quaint style. Also to provide a blog page for a specialist tea taster within Whittard.
ResponseThe photography was art directed for the site to give a fresh, bright and quaint English feel. Muted colours and decorative patterns were used to show attention to detail. The blog page was given a tactile sketch book feel with suggestions of masking tape and rough edges, paper clips and tea stains. (Completed at Checkland Kindleysides Design Consultancy)

ResponseThe Diary of a Nobody is a comic satire set in 1888 about a Victorian clerk with a very ordinary life who decides to write a diary. The title of the book was created using everyday objects, keeping it simple reflecting the ‘ordinariness’ of this mans life.

ISTD Submission
BriefUsing the limitations of an A1 sheet of paper, explore and interpret a 3³ space typographically. ResponseUsing a library as the space to explore, this was used as inspiration to form the ‘library in a box’. Four square sheets of paper combine together to create a poster, which then forms a cube when folded away. A video was created of this to show the process. The exhibit is to encourage people to explore the local library as literature can come to life.
