IntroductionThenameArRabbismentionedover500timesintheQuran.It isveryimportanttoknowandbelievethatwecannotenjoyourlifewithoutknowingAllahwithHisnamesandattributes.Allahtellsusthat“BelongstoAllah;99names”andifweunderstandthese99namesthenitwillsolveallour problems and it is as if wewill live in Paradise beforewe actually enter Paradise in reality. TheParadiseinthislifeistoknowAllahandifwedonotenterthisparadiseinourworldlylifethenwewillnot be able to enter “the Paradise” in hereafter. Knowing Allah is the greatest delight. Knowing Allahsolvesallourproblemsinthislifewhetheritisphysicalormental.ApersonisdeprivedifAllahmakeshimtolivethislifeandprovideshimwithdifferenttypesofprovisionbuthelivedhislifewithouttastingthemostbeautifulthinginlifei.e.knowingAllah.ItisonlywiththeremembranceofAllahthattheheartfindspeaceandhappiness.Peoplemistakethewayofhappinessbyindulgingintheduniyaandforgettingaboutthemostbeautifulthinginlifei.e.Allah.

When we supplicate to Allah, we call him by his name “Rabb ” In the Quran, Allah mentions thesupplicationsofthemessengers(Adam,Ibrahimetc.)startwith“Rabbana”.ThemessengersareusingthenameRabbintheirsupplicationtoaskAllahwhentheywantanythinginthislifeortheHereafter

FromthenameRabbwewillfindthe“Tarbiyah”.TheOnewhoisdealingwithuswithcertainactionsinordertoupgradeussowebecomeabetterperson.ThemainmeaningofRabbistheNurtureri.e.theonewhoistakingcareofusbylookingatourfaultsandTheOnewhonurturesusbymakingustorealisewhatisoursickness,faultsandsins.TheNurtureristheone who nurtures us from the imperfection stage to the perfection stage. Allah is taking care of usdependingonourfaults.Allahknowswhatisthebestforusinreality.

MeaninginReligion• AllahisRabbAlAal’lameeni.e.Rabbofallworldsi.e.allthedominion(Rabbofthehumans,Jinn,

animals,angels,skiesandearth).Aal’lameeniseverythingbesidesAllah.

• AllahisRabboftheKingsandtheslaves,AllahisRabboftherichandpoor,AllahisRabboftheeastandthewest,AllahisRabbofthesunandthemoonandAllahisRabbofthedayandnight.

• AllahisourRabbandRabbofourforefathers(eveniftheyaredisbelievers).

• AllahistheRabbofthegreatesthonourablethroneofAllah(TheThroneisthebiggestcreationofAllah)

• AllahistheRabbofeveryone.Our Rabb is Ar Rahman and Ar Raheem i.e. The One who reforms and nurtures us is not harsh,oppressingorunfair.AllahisfullofkindnessandHisnurturingisfullofmercyandcompassionAllahtakescareofusevenwithoutushavingtoaskHimasHeisourRabb.ImagineifapersonknowshisRabbandheasksAllahtotakecareofhim,thenhowAllahwilldealwithus?AllahneverforsakesanyonewhocomestoHim.Allahprovidesusandfeedseveryonewithoutevenushavingtoask.

TypesofNurturing

ThecategoriesofAllah’snurturingisasbelow:

1. General Nurturing (By default): Allah takes care of uswithout us asking (raising hands andprayingtoAllah).Generalnurturing is forall thecreation.Without thecreationaskingAllah foranything,Allahistakingcareoftheeachandeverycreation.Allahcreateduswithoutusasking,HedoesnotleaveusandHeprovidesusaccordingtowhatissuitableforus.OurnurturerisAlAleemandHeknowsaboutusandHegivesuswhatweneedinthislife.Allahreformersthebelieveranddisbeliever;thegoodandthebad;theevilandthewickedandprovidesallofthemwithall thattheyneedtosurviveinthislife.ThereisaHadithoftheProphetSAWthatthereisnoonemorepatiencethanAllahtoavertharmfromhisslave.ThereareslaveswhodisbelieveinAllahandinsultHimbyaccusingthatHehasasonyetAllahgivesthemprovision.AllahisdealingwithusaccordingtoHisnamesandattributes.AllahdoesnotneglectanyonefromHiscreation.

SpecialNurturing(exclusive):InSpecialnurturingAllahtakescareofusfornotonlytolivethislifebutAllahreformsussothattheslaveissuitabletoliveinParadise.Specialnurturingisforthefuture.Allahwillshowusourmistakes(eithersomeonetellsusorwehearitetc.).Ifwehaveanysickness thenAllahmakes us to see it. This iswhy themessengers askAllah byHis name “ArRabb”becausetheywantParadise.WeashumansarefulloffaultsandsinsandwearenotsuitableforParadise;thereforeweneedtobe reformed and nurtured. Knowing our mistakes, doing good deeds, increasing our emaan,tawakul, reliance is all part of reforming. The worldly life is the place of transformation; ourreforming and nurturing happens through the decree. Everyone goes through a decree that issuitable for their nurturing. An arrogant person will be nurtured when someone who is morearrogantthanhim,putshimdown.Whenwegothroughanysituationinthislifeweshouldnotaccusepeopleandcloseoureyesbutweneedto lookatourself. Wego throughthenurturingagainandagaintillweovercomeitorwefail it.Whenweconfessoursinstoourselvesitsolveshalftheproblemasithumblesus.Everyonegoesthroughadecreewherehefacessituationsthataresuitableforhim.

Theshortcut forspecialnurturingistoacquireknowledgebecauseit is theeasiestwayto learnandfixourselves.Thetestswillbelessforapersonwhoisacquiringknowledgethanforapersonwhodoesnothaveknowledge.WhenAllahwantsgoodforapersonHemakesiteasyforhimtoacquire knowledge. While a person acquires knowledge he is surrounding by angels and theangelsask for forgiveness forhimandAllahpraiseshim. Thisby itself isreforming,as it isoursinsthatdonotallowustoreformourselves.

1. WesupplicatetoAllahwithhisname“ArRabb”asRabbisconnectedwithreforming.ThetarbiyahintheQuranstartswithreforming.TheimpactofthisnameisthatwesupplicatetoAllahwithourhearts.

2. TobepleasedwiththenurturingofAllah.WhateversituationwearegoingthroughweneedtobepleasedwithAllah,asweunderstandthesituationisAllah’snurturing.AllahwillnotputusinasituationtoburdenusormakeitdifficultforusbecauseHeisourRabb.Allahputsusinsituationonlytoreformussoweenteroureternalhomei.e.inParadise.

3. Weneedtobegentleandfullofmercytoothers.WhenweknowhowmercifulAllahittowardus,itmakesustobegentletowardsothersaswell.
