Discussion summary:

A formal introductory session was held regarding the objectives, responsibilities and

functions of the Committee for Research Development & Sustenance (CRDS) by the

chairperson. This was followed by allotment of duties and assignments to individual

members. The chairperson then explained individual roles to each member. Relative time

frames regarding each assignment were discussed. A proposal to hold a meeting of the

committee on the third Monday of every month was put forth, which was accepted

unanimously.

The principal congratulated the CRDS for conduction of a workshop on ‘Research

methodology’ at SRGCDS. The Chairperson then apprised the Principal about the

tentative budgetary requirements requested by departments for research work. The

representative from the management then put forth the total allocated budget for

research work. He also put forth the format to apply for allocation of funds. He requested

a financial audit on the usage of funds every three months. These proposals were agreed

to by all present members.

Conclusion:

Budgetary allotment of ₨ 100000 (one lakh) to each department. Head of Departments

to decide on allocation of sanctioned amount in their respective departments.

the research proposals submitted .Following is the composition , aims and objectives of

Current Recommendations:

1. The Research committee recommended to improvise strategies for selection

of research articles for its in house journal “Dental Era”. Currently, the institute

is using the “ Viper Software” to scrutinize articles for pliagrism.

2. The committee recommended streamlining the process of Ethical Clearance

(IEC) . Presently, IEC meets annually to review the research projects of faculty

and students. The recommendations of the IEC are considered and there after

the projects are forwarded to RGUHS for clearance.

3. Invitation to eminent people for conducting workshops and delivering key

note lectures on topics related to research methodology and protocols has also

been recommended. As a fall out of which a host of eminent personalities in the

field of dentistry have delivering lectures in Sri Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental

Sciences and Hospital.

4. Registration of the Institutional Ethics Committee with CDSCO (Central

Drugs Standard Control Organization ) under Ministry of Health and Family

Welfare has been recommended by the research committee. The process is

under way for the registration.
