Some ideas get entrenched, but Shanley actually wants to know why we do things in an attempt to find improvements. She challenges me to not accept things as "that's what we have always done" but to work together as a team to be willing to try new things (with the understanding that, it may not work out, but that that should not stop us from trying). I truly believe that if she had the full support of her staff (which she unfortunately does not) that we can do amazing thing for the faculty and the students.”

He was born with a hearing impairment, but he did not let that stop him from becoming an anesthesiologist. Dr. Wallace not only excelled in that field, he is now helping others (fellows) acting as a mentor, meeting and teaching them valuable experience. He is an expert in the field of pain and travels around the world to give lectures. He also is retained by outside law firms to assist in their cases. I have seen him write LORs for staff members that want to get into a nursing program or exiting fellows. He does all this and expects nothing in return. Kudos to a job well done Dr. Mark Wallace!! He recently invited his faculty members to go fishing on his boat, and he tries to keep his department happy and feeling like a family.”
