VISION

Dart HC has a vision:

To be an active force in the local area, offering opportunities for all within a thriving/flourishing sports

club. To have created a warm and friendly environment in which each individual member can fulfil their potential.

What is the Ethos of the Club?

Dart HC aims to encourage the inclusion of all, regardless of age, ability, gender, race or location, in all aspects of our sports club. Our focus is the creation of a warm and friendly atmosphere within which each individual can flourish and develop. A key aspect is the commitment to ensuring that the welfare of all members is given priority and their contributions valued in every format, including physically, socially, technically and intellectually. We strive to offer the opportunity for men, women and children from a large catchment area to play hockey at a variety of competitive team levels and to facilitate the improvement of each individuals skills base in order that they reach their full potential. Where are we now?

Statistically we have: A total of 76 members – split by 21 males, 22 females and 33 juniors1 level two coach9 level one coaches (includes 1 coach working towards a level two)11 qualified umpires

Mens 1st Team South Division 2Mens 2nd Team South west Division 1Mens 3rd Team – friendlies onlyLadies 1st Team South DivisionLadies 2nd Team Channel 2BLadies 3rd Team – friendlies only

Joint and separate gender training, Junior training, indoor trainingSocial committee – occasional events throughout, annual Dinner and Dance (with awards)AGM annually, regular committee meetings – monthly in season, sub committee meetings, players meetings, committed team working on club first. All officers already in post as identified in Club First.

Strengths – mixed club, a lot of volunteers, strong ethos of social element, determination to implement our vision, improvement of playing standard in recent years, several coaches trained, coaches running adult and junior sessions, several umpires trained, desire to improve club ie club first etc, financially sound at present - £6000 in bank, large volunteer base – working without fees, junior section – strong younger females section

Weaknesses – no set club base (no club house or pitch security), lacking some direction, no set catchment area, no established links with local schools – secondary or primary, no committed involvement with local councils, not as much contact with local, regional and national bodies, not always well supported social dos, not as much integration between genders, no regular consistent adult or junior recruitment, no male juniors below age 14, still at the early stages of implementing a developmental policy for selection and promotion of juniors into the adult teams.

Opportunities – possibility of gaining our own pitch and base, linking in with positive schools, strong body of people to take forward the development of the club.

Threats – losing pitch, losing junior players to better recruiting local clubs, only a limited numbers of adult and juniors involved in the running of the club organization
