Cross function collaboration – problem/solution

┌ What was the problem?

1. Caregiving happens in an instant

2. Caregivers need access to information when they find themselves thrust into a caregiving situation

3. Novartis does an excellent job of providing benefits, but from a caregiving standpoint, not many employees utilize and/or know what’s available to them

┌ What was the solution?

1. It was clear from the beginning that we would need the input from a number of functions

2. Established a cross functional team of experts in the benefits programs to define and shape the guide

3. Create a caregivers guide that defines the Novartis benefit program thru the lens of a caregiver

Objective

• Provide insights on each ERG in terms of membership, programming highlights, key successes, and opportunities

• Allow ERGs to share details around their operations, goals and future plans

Desired Outcomes

• Help ERGs pinpoint where there are common opportunities and areas for consistency

Instructions

1. ERGs will take turns presenting information to the group about their ERG related to the above objective.

2. As ERGs presents, the summit participants will take notes on where they heard opportunities to collaborate across the ERGs on shared challenges and best practices.

3. Once presentations are done, everyone will discuss the identified opportunities and add any additional ones.

Veterans

VETalentTypically 6-20 weeks classroom instruction and 6-20 weeks on-the job training work-study program. 12 cohorts of 143 participants. Outcomes: 48 veterans and 12 military spouses have been hired and 42 veterans and 11 military spouses are still in the program.

Hiring Our HeroesUS Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program targets transitioning service members for a 12-week apprenticeship program. One of 47 graduates working at Prudential’s headquarters in Newark. Prudential sponsors the program at FT Bliss, TX.

VetNetOur Business Resource Group has offered resume writing, interviewing skills, mentoring and other activities to veterans and military spouses at Ft. Bliss and other programs, to include the local Military Spouse Professional Network.
