Cindy Arledge | Visionary Leader of the Legacy Family Revolution
Protect Your Business by Helping Your Clients Beat the 3-Generational Cycle of Wealth Loss
Cindy Arledge will present an overview of the secret planning tool used to keep families and their wealth intact for 100 years or more.
An estimated 30 trillion-dollar wealth transfer is currently underway as baby boomers pass away. Sadly, 85% to 90% of these will fail, when failure is measured by loss of assets, destroyed relationships, and unnecessary upheaval within families.
For financial advisors, this transfer represents incredible risk and uncertainty for their businesses. According to an InvestmentNews survey of 544 advisors, 65% of children fire their parents’ financial advisor after they receive their inheritance. Really, who can blame them? According to the survey, almost 20 percent of
advisors have not met their clients’ children. The story even says “Many advisors said they don’t know how to appeal to clients’ kids, or they believe that connection is not worth the effort.”
It doesn’t have to be this way for you, or your clients. Legacy Family Planning is the little-known planning tool used by ultra-wealthy families to prevent the two most common causes of wealth transfer failure: unprepared heirs who are unable to communicate and trust each other. Cindy will share three questions you can use to engage meaningful conversations and build strong relationships with entire families. Become a thought leader of multi-generational financial planning to help your clients protect their families and their wealth.
Cindy Arledge is the second-generation leader of a successful real estate investment company managing more than a dozen entities. When her parents passed away eight months apart, Cindy was ill-prepared for the destruction that
followed. After learning that her family was just another sad statistic of three-generational wealth loss, she was tenacious in discovering the secrets of the successful few. She launched the Legacy Family Revolution to help other families avoid the pain she experienced.
Cindy is now helping smart business owners and financially savvy family leaders define their legacies to create lives that matter. She works with estate planning professionals to provide the framework, resources, and processes they need to help family leaders design legacies that positively impact their families and communities.
Cindy is the best-selling author of Cur$e of Inheritance: How to Protect Your Family From Being Broke, Bitter and Blaming You, and The Legacy Family Way: How to Foster Family Relationships to Create Lasting Wealth. My Camino, My Life: A Sole to Soul Connection is a memoir of her 500-mile walk across Spain in 2015.

I hope this letter finds you doing better than you expected so far this year! What a great year for NAIFA and specifically for NAIFA-Dallas! We have had such a busy year so far!
Special thanks go out to Karl Drescher and his Race for Success committee including Mike Evans, Bob Kucera, Mark Elder, John Norman, Matt Robertson, and Cheri Stanwix. We had another great event and evening with over 100 advisors participating and heard great new CE topics from Andra Grava, Mary Lyons, Martin Gore, Don Poole, and Tresi Moore Weeks. Thank you to all our sponsors who helped make this another great event for our members.
Additionally, in May, 34 NAIFA members from Texas joined hundreds of others from across the country for our Congressional Conference in Washington, DC. This is one of my top two favorite NAIFA events, and the staff does an amazing job arranging our meetings with our elected officials. We had eight members from NAIFA-Dallas attend including Andra Grava, Karen True, Harold Shepard, Steve Anderson, and YATS: David Sims, Emma Trimble, James Jenkins, and myself. Next year, you have to put this on your calendar as there are reimbursements from the state and national.
As I officially transition to President of NAIFA-Dallas, I want to take a minute to thank all our members who have helped get us here, to those who ran for the board, to our existing board, to Karen True and Pam Thompson for all their logistical work behind the scenes, and to all of you who volunteer for the betterment of our
association. It is exciting to see those with so much passion contribute in meaningful ways to our members’ best interests.
While the NAIFA National QME has brought many questions, it is safe to understand there will be a NAIFA presence in Dallas. Both NAIFA state and national are working toward our best interests, and our future is strong. From a NAIFA-Dallas perspective, this year has marked success in places we needed it.
• Our PAC contributors are back up to around 16% of total membership.
» This coming year, we will push to get to 20% with your help.
• NAIFA-Dallas has added close to 60 new dues-paying members this year.
• Our membership numbers have been above what was budgeted all year.
• NAIFA-Dallas has operated in the black and is on pace to have a healthier budget than expected.
• Matt Robertson completed LILI and Andra Grava and Karen True have applied for this fall.
» LILI is the single greatest personal leadership course I have taken.
• Bylaws changes were approved which will allow us to be more flexible than ever in addressing member needs.
With the changes in Washington, it is obvious our association is needed more than ever, and it is great to be part of an organization with the largest PAC in the industry. NAIFA continues to redefine itself, and I am excited to see new advisor-focused value-added programs rolled out in the coming months.
Again, thank you for your trust and know that I appreciate my time leading our organization and do not take it for granted. Till we meet again!
