In support of the community participatory process which is underway in the remaining three packages, technical advice was provided by the Senior Socio-economist in the HQ Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Department. The purpose of the week long mission was to strengthen the mechanisms for community engagement in relation to the planning process and to meet with relevant community stakeholders as part of this process. The evaluation of tenders for the protection of Archeology soundings in Package 7 & 8 which have been completed took place in December and the works are expected to start in January. The bids received for Lot 10, Lot 11 and Lot 12 were ratified by the Area Committee for Procurement at headquarters level in December and donor approval was requested from the Saudi Fund for Development prior to the finalization of the contracts with the selected contractors. It is expected that works on site will commence in February 2016 once all of the relevant formalities have been completed. The reconstruction of Blocks N23, N24, N6R1, Water Tower and Mosque continued to progress slowly during the month. Notwithstanding this, however, partial handovers of reconstructed buildings took place and eleven buildings were handed over to beneficiaries. The Reconstruction of Blocks N23 and N24 continued to progress at a slow pace in December.Notwithstanding

this, however,eleven buildings, six in Block N24 and five in Block N23 were handed over to the beneficiaries at the

end of the month. The completion of the remaining buildings, Mosque and Elevated Water Tower is expected to

be finalized by February.

UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some registered Palestine refugees.

Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight.

UNRWA services encompass education, health care,relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. UNRWA is funded almost

entirely by voluntary contributions.
