It has been an honor to serve as President of the Italian American Club. There

are many different incidents that in retrospect are now funny i.e. I got to the Car Show without my keys. BL had them in our

car at her meeting in E. Englewood. Or how about being asked to tell (nameless Service Club) about our Club? I prepared for

this luncheon with a 10-12 minute “dog and pony” show…..12 people and two came late! On a more serious note, one of the

most moving happenings was our beautiful St. Joseph Mass, in Italian, orchestrated by Joe DiMarco and Tom Matorana. In

the same vein as Pres or just a “plain ole member” I got big kicks out of the Lobster Fest, Fat Tuesday, the Million Dollar

Quartet and my favorite Tampa Bay Downs. You may have heard I’m cutting back on my work load but, I’ll do these events,

my love for the Club’s not gone, so, I’ll see you around campus. Ciao, Dick C. Buon Natale! Buon Capodanno!

REPORT ON RECENT EVENTS Nov. 23rd: Italian Thanksgiving Dinner was chaired by Bruce Bastian & Joe DiMarco. Joe’s kitchen crew was Justin, Patsy, Marino, Ben, Mike A, Tom & Shirley S, Bob P, Joe Bird & Johanna G. Raffle: Tom M. Bar: Bob H & Karl B. Tix & Flyers: Linda B. Tix sales/Seating: Barbara T. Décor: Judy P & Theo A. Everyone worked hard to produce a successful meal for the 108 thankful diners. The “turkey on every table” has been a popular event for the last 5 out of 6 years! It’s a nice way to share the holiday with family & friends on the weekend before Thanksgiving day.

Santa did some reconnoitering of the Venice area on Sat the 13th by

visiting the IACofV. As fortune would have it, over five dozen youngsters

were gathered there to have a party, complete with refreshments, games,

custom balloons and real pony rides. This event was so popular that there

were even more adults in attendance than kids. Mr C was accompanied by

Mrs Claus and an elf, both of whom looked much like Betty M and Phyllis

A. All were welcomed by Barbara T and Diane H. Games were monitored

by Marion C and Linda C, refreshments prepared by Justin T, Marino R

and Joe D, were served by Vi G, Mary I, Connie D & Bob H with “Smily

Elf” Ralph M batting cleanup. Rustling at the corral were 'Tex' Lou S and

'Cowgirl Up' Barbara M. Photographed by Bruce B. The only remiss,

being that Al Angelastri was too tardy to meet Santa. Report by AJR.

Wanted: Bridge Players! On January 7th & 28th Bridge players are

invited to attend the club at 7pm for a fun

evening of bidding & taking tricks! Refresh your skills!
