TRANSCRIPT
Dear Church Family,
I hope each of you found the time to go to the movie “Courageous”. It is a very challenging movie that encourages us to stand up and fight for our family and friends. The movie encourages us to live a life of character and integrity for all to see. Whether at work, or at home, we should live in a way that reflects and honors Christ our Lord. Scripture tells us in Joshua 1:7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” The Scripture gives us the answer of how we can have a successful marriage, how to be successful in raising our children, how to be successful at work, etc. It’s by staying true to the Word of God. It’s by living out it’s truth unashamedly. It’s by holding true to it’s standards and not allowing the world to make you compromise. Stand on the truth of the Word, live by it, and be courageous for God.
In Christ, John

contact Pastor Mark Fugitt at 774-6431.
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” When these words were written by the psalmist in Psalms 100:4-5, his heart was, no doubt, full of thankfulness toward our mighty Father. As we approach this holiday season, it is my prayer that we would each one greet the day with thanksgiving in our heart for what God has done for us!
We have an eventful month coming up!
Saturday, November 5 from 3pm-??? will be a Leaders Meeting at Hartley Farms. This is open to ALL adults in any way associated with leading a group of our teens, whether it is Sunday School, AWANA, or our Wednesday night services. Please make every effort to attend, as we will be discussing upcoming curriculum, D-NOW on December 2-4, scheduling changes, and many other topics…not to mention good food and fellowship!!!
Wednesday, November 16 we will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner to our Aftershock teens. This is our after school program open to all 7th-12th grade students from 2:45-5:30pm on Wednesdays.
Saturday, November 19 the entire youth group, as well as any parent who wishes to attend, will take part in Paintball at Hartley Farms. Cost is $20 regardless of whether you use your gun or a gun from Bill’s Extreme Paintball.
Wednesday, November 23 there will be no youth activities.
Thank you, parents, for allowing me to help you grow your teenagers spiritually, and thank you, teenagers, for just being you! What a great day it is to give God the glory for all He has done!!!
Ever Thankful, Pastor Mark

Westside Preschool
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!” (Psalm 106:1) We continue to see the Lord’s blessings in the Preschool Department! We have been blessed with many 4 and 5 year old children. We also have been blessed with two amazing women who are willing to commit to being our 5 year old Sunday School Teachers! Praise the Lord! Starting November 6, if you have a 5 year old (who is NOT attending Kindergarten) or a child who will turn 5 before Feb. 29, 2012, they will move to the classroom located next door to the 4 year old class. Brenda Shelden will teach at 9:45am, and Kim James will teach at 11am. Thank you, ladies, for serving Him! We need to have rotating helpers in each classroom, so we need to fill those positions. If you feel led, please stop by the preschool registration desk and let us know. We will gladly get you plugged in!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Here are a couple of ideas to help instill thankfulness in your preschoolers:
Books: For the really young: “My Basket of Blessings” by Dr. Mary Manz Simon For the preschooler: “Let’s Celebrate God’s Blessings of Thanksgiving” by Lise Caldwell (both can be found on www.cbd.com)
Family Fun: Make a thankful tree to hang on the wall. Each day have family members tape a leaf onto the tree stating something they are thankful for.
Snack Fun: Blessing Snack Mix Bugles: Shaped like the cornucopia, or Horn of Plenty. A symbol of our nation’s abundance. Pretzels: Arms folded in prayer. A freedom sought by those who founded our country. Candy Corn: The sacrifices of the Pilgrim’s first winter. Food was so scarce that settlers survived on just a few kernels of corn a day. Nuts or Seeds: Promise of future harvest. One we will reap only if seeds are planted and tended to with diligence. Dried Fruits: Harvest gifts from our bountiful land. M&M’s: Memories of those who came before us to lead us into a blessed future. Hershey’s Kiss: The love of family and friends that sweeten our lives.
Here we are, another month has passed, and it is time to write the newsletter again! We have been so busy in the Preschool, I don’t really know where the time goes!
This past month has been very exciting! We had the fire department visit during our Family Night. They showed us what they look like when they go into a burning building, and informed us about fire safety. This way, if the children are ever in a fire, they will not run away from someone trying to help them. Sparky came along with the firemen, and the children also got a close up view of a fire truck! We want to say thank you to the Waynesville Rural Fire Department for spending time with our children.
We went on field trips to the pumpkin patch at Deep Woods Farm in Crocker. The children went on a hayride, and got to pick out their own pumpkin to take home with them. Deep Woods Farm also has fun areas to play in, and animals that the children could feed. We all had lots of fun!
Some of the themes in the classrooms this month have been: safety, farms, pumpkins, seasons, and Fall. They have been working on the letters E, F, G, and H, and the numbers 4, 5, and 6. One of the verses the children have been learning this month is Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Our Bible stories this month have been about Daniel, David, Paul, and God gives manna.
We are so happy to be working with all the children. We have openings in the full day classes right now, only three, but we would love to fill them. If you or someone you know has a child that you think would benefit from our teaching and love, please come check us out during the week and see all that is going on.
Thank you all for your prayers, and many blessings to you this next month.

THANK YOU!!! Fall Festival requires lots of volunteers!
A huge thanks goes out to the following: Game workers, people who donated candy & baked
goods, youth & adult workers who checked the games out, Steve Barnes who made repairs, ministry assistants
who helped with publicity, pastors guidance with details, registration volunteers, and candy distributors.
Westside ’s events are ONLY successful as a result of ALL God’s people working together.
THANK YOU!!!
TeamKid is currently practicing “The Star of
Bethlehem” and “Look Who Just Checked In”.
They will perform these songs on December 18th
with the Adult Christmas Choir. As the date gets
closer, we will post additional practice times.
The kids are still learning the books of the Bible,
so they will be able to find scripture passages in
their Bible during Bible study and Missions.
We have between 40 and 50 kids in attendance
now, so please bring the appropriate amount of
snacks when it is your turn.
We will be doing a mission project in December
and hope that you will help us with this event.
Thank You,

Young Adult/Music Ministry
Young Adult and
College Ministry
The majority of people come to church because they were directly invited. This stat carries over to all other events, such as Sunday school classes, and small groups. I encourage you to
not rely on a church announcement to get the people sitting next to you in service to be more involved. Instead, step out and personally invite them.
Our goal would be to see everyone plugged into a group of other Christians for personal and spiritual growth. Community is not built through casual greetings in the atrium, but through a genuine connection with others. Here are some reasons for community:
To spend time with people traveling in the same direction as you.
To get away from the superficial. Be real and authentic because you are spending time regularly together.
To encourage one another to be like Jesus.
Don’t forget the Book of Acts study on Wednesday nights and the Book of Matthew study on Sunday nights. Also, Courageous study for men on Wednesday nights (Contact Greg Whittet@ 910-568-2663 for more information). As always, visit www.westsidewaynesville.com and the information desk in the atrium for up-to-date information on Sunday morning studies.
In Christ,
Pastor Mark Fugitt
E-Newsletter Would you like to help the environment and save the church money?
The newsletter publication costs the church an average of $300 each month.
We publish it 10 times each year, so it’s a yearly cost of $3000.
If you are interested in receiving the monthly newsletter (this document)
electronically, instead of through the mail, please sign up in the atrium or email us at
Christmas Offerings of Praise
December 18th will be here before we know it! Join us
as we prepare an Offering of Praise--a celebration of
the cast of the Christmas story and their offerings to
the Baby King! We have a variety of music, from
acapella choral arrangements to a wonderful mix of praise
and worship combined with the familiar Christmas carols!
We found a nice eclectic mix that promises to be easy to
sing--i.e. it will work with our limited number of practices
available and yet it is packed with Worship to our King!
We need musicians--both orchestra and praise band--
and, of course, singers! Practices will be held on
Wednesday nights (November 2, 9, 16 & 30 and
December 7 & 14) at 7 pm immediately following Adult
Choir rehearsal. We also have additional practices
scheduled for Sunday at 4pm for December 4 & 11)
Stop by and pick up a CD! Contact Mike Freeman or
Renita DeMalade for more info!
