Welcome back and happy new year to you all. I hope the winter holidays provided time for replenishing your spirit and celebrating with family and friends. As I begin my second semester as Provost and Dean of Teachers College, I am very excited to welcome Professor Matt Henley, Associate Professor of Dance Education,to our faculty, and 122 graduate students to TC this Spring term. During my first semester at Teachers College I enjoyed getting to know many of the valuedmembers of the community. As I travel to meet with various national and internationaleducational leaders, I am consistently reminded that our faculty are regarded as scholarlyleaders; our students are outstanding and are recruited to teach in schools all around NewYork and beyond to work; our alumni are proud; and, our staff are hardworking, dedicated, andtruly, the best. I feel so honored to be part of this community. We have a lot planned for this semester and the coming year. I am so excited to think abouthow to build TC’s research infrastructure, and I am working hard with our Associate Dean forResearch search committee to ensure that we bring in an Associate Dean who will help breakdown disciplinary barriers, support junior scholars and students, and pave the way forstronger research organization at TC. I’m also happy to announce that Matthew Zajic hasaccepted a position to join the Health and Behavior Studies Department in Fall 2020. Inaddition, the Arts Administration program is nearing the end of a faculty search which Ibelieve will bring another great faculty member to TC. I am pleased to announce that our own Katie Embree has been named Senior Vice Provost inrecognition of her long-term commitment to the health and well-being of our academicenterprise. In terms of Student Pathways, Vice Provost Rock and his team continue to thinkabout ways to improve our students’ experiences at TC with a focus on building newinitiatives in graduate student life, career services, and student health and well-being. ViceProvost Greenstein welcomed a new registrar, Megan Massaro and the Office of Enrollment isseeing the fruits of an important marketing campaign. I am truly excited about what thefuture of TC holds and as we begin this new semester, and we evaluate the possibilitiesavailable, I think it is up to all of us to join together to make impactful and positive changes. I can’t thank you enough for a wonderful fall semester and wish you all the very best in all thatis to come. Sincerely,
Stephanie
