Thank you for continuing support. 2019 is going to be a great year with growth in membership and programs. This is your Post and what you think of it, and what you do to promote it, is even more important. Plan on attending our regularly scheduled meetings the 3 rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. This is where you can make your feelings known and your efforts more meaningful and productive. We have a number of new members and transfers to Post 113. Greet them and make them feel welcome. They all have something to contribute and in many cases they simply need to be asked. All organizations, need to have a dedicated and expanding membership. Innovation and new ideas are what make an organization grow and prosper. When someone comes into the Post and you do not recognize them introduce yourself and see if you can be of assistance.

A Message from the Commander

Leroy Furman

Happy New Year to all of our Post members and friends. 2018 was a year to remember and to build on. Thank you for continuing support. 2019 is going to be a great year with growth in membership and programs. This is your Post and what you think of it, and what you do to promote it, is even more important. Plan on attending our regularly scheduled meetings the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. This is where you can make your feelings known and your efforts more meaningful and productive. We have a number of new members and transfers to Post 113. Greet them and make them feel welcome. They all have something to contribute and in many cases they simply need to be asked. All organizations, need to have a dedicated and expanding membership. Veterans Day 2018 was an outstanding and emotional experience. The hall was full and our program was very well received. Other programs and functions are planned. Come and enjoy them. Pick up a calendar to see what is upcoming. Our New Year celebration is selling out fast. Check with Tina Brown to see if there are still tickets available. Eddie and the Edsels will provide great entertainment and music. See you there. HAPPY NEW YEAR and May God bless you, your families, our troops wherever they may be and the first responders.

Chaplain’s Message Phillip Kolbe

This past month has been a sad one as 3 members passed away. They are: Louis Desci, Jr., Olin Bud Stephens, and John Benoit. Please keep their families in your prayers. And please pray for Denny Bartlett as he is still in the hospital. If you know of any members who pass away or are sick or in the hospital, please let us know by writing their names on the board to the left of the bar door or call/email the Post. As many of you know I am a part of a program for combat veterans called “At Ease.” We are at our Post the first Tuesday of every month at 6PM. Fellow combat vets are there for any combat vets to talk with. We know how many of us still carry a lot of baggage from our time overseas. We seek peace in our hearts from this baggage. Everyone is welcome. If anyone would like to meet at a different time or day, please contact me at the Legion or at my cell number: 850-227-6552.

From the Adjutant

Royce Tyler

With December rapidly approaching I would like to take this opportunity to say welcome to all of our Northern friends and members. Many of those returning have expressed regret for not being here for the Legion’s Annual Veterans Golf Tournament. This year due, to a scheduling conflict, it was held on the 3rd of November. Next year’s is scheduled to be held on the 16th of November. This will give many more people a chance to enjoy the

tournament and also help raise additional funds for the charities supported by the tournament. The Tournament was a great success even though the participation was a bit smaller than expected, due to the change in start dates. We still had 27 teams register. Everyone worked diligently to make this event an overwhelming success. Memberships are coming along a bit slower than last year; we do have 551 members renewed, or 61.8% of our yearly goal. This last Month we have had 3 NEW MEMBERS, and 11 transfers into our Post. The National Legion has a new program which will hopefully help streamline the reporting process. This new process will enable the Membership person to send out the cards in a more timely manner. If CC processing becomes a bit more efficient, those of you who pay with a card will receive your member cards faster than when using the "old" system. Please remember that when the Renewal notices are sent from National, they are sent to your Address of record (i.e. your address in the July/August time frame}. If you move, please notify the Post, so your records can be updated and the information sent to National to keep National record current.

From the SAL

Eric Stefanik As we enter the New Year I find myself looking back on the time that has passed and looking forward to the year ahead. Upcoming events include:

Cards on Wednesday nights Assisting the Auxiliary on the Valentines' Dance Raffling off a hand made chest {made by Harold Feasle) and filled with all kinds of booze (drawn at the Valentines Dance) on February 9th.

Tickets are at the bar, six tickets for $5. Our meetings continue to be on the second Thursday at 5:30 PM. My goal is to have 10 Sons members in attendance at upcoming meetings. When this occurs the Squadron will buy a drink for all Sons members in attendance. Don't forget the Lucky Duck Festival is March 2, 2019. Get your tickets at the bar. The day will be filled with fun, food and music. Also remember Duck Races every Tuesday 4-6 PM.

Because of the lack of information being submitted by those you elected to do so, I will no longer be editing the SoundOff. Each of your leaders were informed of the deadline to be published. They simply do not seem to understand that deadlines mean exactly what they state. Please do not blame me, I simply cannot edit information I have not received. You elected the officials who are supposed to keep you informed through this newsletter. They are the ones you should be challenging to do their job. You can see quite clearly who is and who is not submitting information for their respective areas of responsibility. You elected them, it is up to you to addess these failures to meet their commitments. I would like to add a thank you to those elected officials who always submitted their articles on time, you can certainly see who takes their responsibility seriously, and those who do not seem too.
