Submit the form, and then complete the following steps in order to finish the override request: 1.Print the form that is sent to your @illinois.edu email address2.If instructor approval is required, obtain the faculty member's signature and consent (may be done via email)3.Submit the form to Sandy Horn, School of Music Academic Affairs Office (Room 3074 Music Building); or, forward via email the webform and the instructor's consent to [email protected].

Who does what?

• Dr. Nathan Mandel: Properties (keys/lockers/equipment); Scheduling and Events; Instructional Support.

• Chad Wahls: Maintains facilities and is our liaison with F and S; in-house project manager for construction projects; telephone and communications; maintains and repairs audio and video equipment in the classrooms and offices.

• Joy McClaugherty: Manages the copy center (programs, mailers, copy machines, etc.); music-main receptionist; assists with scheduling and events calendar; music announcements email; etc.

• John Minor: tunes and repairs ALL SoM pianos.

Building/Facilities Use• Facilities are for registered School of Music students only.• Classrooms are unlocked during the day M – F starting at

7:45 am.• Audio/Video – MB 1160/audio cabinet access.• Classroom requests: ATLAS scheduler.• Classroom etiquette

– If you move desks around, please put the chairs back for the next teacher.

– Wipe the white boards when you are done. DO NOT use permanent marker.

– If you require extra desks for your classroom, please see Dr. Mandel, don’t move them from other rooms.

– If you or your students spill something, WIPE IT/CLEAN IT UP.– Do not move the piano.– Notify Dr. Mandel or Mr. Wahls of any problems in the

classrooms!

Practice Rooms- Teaching of private lessons in School of Music/State

facilities is a violation of University policy, and is against State law. (PLP/VLP/classes are exempt)

- Pianos should not be moved between rooms.- No food or drink (other than water) is allowed in

practice rooms.- Clean up after yourself – please be courteous to your

colleagues.- LOCK THE DOOR when you are done.- DO NOT cover the windows.- Sign up sheets are optional, but should be respected.- Email music-equipment for problems with practice

rooms, and John Minor for piano maintenance.

Restrooms• Be courteous to others using the restroom.• FLUSH the toilet when you are done.• Please sit on the toilet, they are not made to stand on

or squat on.• If you make a mess, clean it up.• Dispose of personal hygiene products IN the supplied

receptacles.• Wash your hands when you are done and help keep

the SoM clean and sanitary.• Report anything that needs attention to a Staff

member!!!• Be kind and courteous, and don’t forget to thank our

Assigned Teaching Spaces

• Assigned to you for practice and teaching ONLY. Rooms are not kitchens or bedrooms.

• GA’s assigned to the MB and SH are required to vacate their space and return their keys by May 13, 2015.

• Instrumental GA’s are welcome to sign out practice rooms for teaching studio lessons in the case of scheduling conflicts.

• Remember – no private teaching!
