Dear customer, thank you for buying My Piano. My Piano is a sampled upright piano for NativeInstruments Kontakt.

It is designed for delicate and cinematic music, but it isalso a good choice for romantic jazz and classicalmusic.

We worked very hard to reproduce the many differentaspects of a real piano. My Piano features manydifferent layers of dynamics, release samples, internalresonances of the piano body, sympathetic and pedalresonance, pedal sounds and much more.

    INSTALLATION

Extract the files in a new older, and just open MyPiano.nki in Kontakt.I you dont know how to open .rar files, we suggest to download 7zip rom www.7-zip.org (windows users) orwww.unrarx.com (mac users).

    THE INTERFACE

Tere are five interace tabs in My Piano to customize the sound and the behaviour o the instrument.Lets see them in detail:

    SOUND

EQUALIZERTe equalizercontrols three basic parameters opiano sound, by using the basic Kontakt Tree BandEQ.

COMPRESSORCompressorallows to achieve a larger-than-lie e-ect by reducing the difference in gain in samples.

CONVOLUTION REVERBSwitched on by deault, you can control the amount

o reverb and hall size (since it is based on a convolu-tion IR sample, we suggest not to push the size knobto the extremes to avoid artiacts). We also recommend to keep the Convolution reverbon to take ull advantage o the Distanceknob.

POSITIONTis section is very useul to help you place thepiano in a mix. Te Distanceknob controls differentparameters to give the illusion o moving the piano

on the z-axis. Tis is done by altering our differentparameters: by reducing the width o the stereo field, increasing the reverb and equalizing the piano, thisknob is very effective to reproduce the different posi-tions o a classical piano recording (Close, Near, Far).

Te Widthknob will simply reduce or widen the ste-reo separation. Tis will be affected by the Distanceknob.

Pansimply controls where the piano is sitting in thestereo field (lef or right).

Tis page allows you to control various aspects o the piano sound.

    RESONANCE

Resonance page contains controls to customize the internal resonances o My Piano. Tis page contain sthemain controls that characterize My Piano sound.

PEDAL RESONANCEMy Piano doesnt have a different sample set orPedal Upand Pedal Downkeys. We ound anotherway to isolate the resonances o the piano when thepedal is down. With our technique you can reallycustomize how much resonances you get when thepedal is down.

SYMPATHETIC RESONANCESympathetic Resonanceis the interaction between theopen strings in the piano when a new key is pressed. On a real piano when you hold down C4 note andthen press C3, you will hear the harmonics o C4resonating in the piano. We emulated this kind o interaction making a pianosound that is never the same i different notes arealready pressed.

Tis is the key o My Piano warmth.

Tis eature will raise polyphony a bit, but thanks toSel Masking we managed to keep it under control.

    PIANO BODY RESPONSE

Piano Body Responseis a custom control that emu-lates the internal resonance o the piano body. Tis isdone through an IR that controls how the piano itsel

diffuses the sound. In combination with the convolution reverb onSound page, this can be very heavy on the CPU.Moreover, theres an issue in older Kontakt versions(4.2.3 and lower), causing a Memory Corruption Er-ror. Tis is solved in Kontakt 4.2.4 update.

    NOISES

Every piano produces noise when played. Te smarter the piano manuacturer is, the less noises are present, but an absolutely silent piano is certainly recognized as a ake one.

PEDAL UP PEDAL DOWNTe knobs control how much you will hear the pianoup and down, when you play with the MIDI pedal onyour keyboard.

OCCASIONAL CRACKLESOccasional cracklesis the most amousing eature inMy Piano. o emulate a live perormance, you can

raise this control a bit and some natural noises willbe randomly produced. Te more notes you play themore chanche you have to have noises reproduced.
