DOWNTOWN BRAMPTON IS UNDERGOING TRANSFORMATION

The demolition of City-owned buildings at 21 Nelson Street marks the start of an exciting new phase in the development of the downtown. Soon you will see hoardings go up around this area on Nelson Street, George Street and Diplock Lane that will showcase some of the highlights of the exciting transformation happening in the downtown. The hoarding on Diplock Lane will showcase an art wall with images from local artist who participated in the Live Art event that is presented by the Inzola Art Endowment Fund, in partnership with the Downtown Brampton BIA, PAMA and Beaux Art Brampton. This piece of land will be part of the Innovation District and the iconic Centre for Innovation (CFI).

The CFI will be an iconic gateway building and a key part of the City’s Innovation District, offering a new central library, a downtown transit terminal and office space.

DOWNTOWN BRAMPTON REVITALIZATION HIGHLIGHTS

• Riverwalk: This transformative project will revitalize Brampton’s downtown through appropriate flood prevention measures and urban design landscape.

• Light Rail Transit, All-Day Two-Way Go and Queen Street BRT: Extending the planned Hurontario LRT from the Gateway Terminal Station at Steeles Avenue to the Brampton GO Station, a two-way all-day GO service and the Queen Street BRT, will support economic growth, job creation and development in the downtown.

• Innovation District: Brampton is putting all the necessary pieces in place to support a robust innovation ecosystem, including Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Brampton Entrepreneur Centre (Ideation and Co-working space), Ryerson-Brampton Innovation Zone (Start-Up Incubator), and a scale-up incubator.

• Postsecondary education: Continued partnerships and investments in post-secondary education, research, innovation and commercialization activities will create and fill the jobs of tomorrow. For more information go to www.brampton.ca/downtownbrampton

There is no charge to be part of this event and participants must simply provide treats to the children on the hunt (chocolate eggs recommended). Your business will be listed as a location on the map every family receives and be given a window decal to identify your participation.
