About MeI’m 16 years old, I attend South Downs College in Hampshire studying Level 3 BTEC Multi Media Journalism and my ideal job would be in media, I would like to do something in journalism preferably that I could be creative in. I would describe myself as reliable and honest; always anxious to develop my abilities and adapt to any environment and work expected.

Ideal Job Role In MediaMy ideal job would be something creative that I could in-cooperate my own ideas into and have a say in what the final piece looks like, in print-based media preferably.ART EDITOR-An Art Editor makes sure that magazines are appealing to the reader, they look good and are easy to read, additionally need to make it visually appealing. • They need to be creative with expert IT skills with an understanding of the customers

and readers to make sure the work is completed at a high level of standards as well as finishing in time for tight deadlines.

• To get into being an art editor many people often have a degree in an art subject. However, there are no set entry requirements into becoming one, having an artistic talent that can be shown to employers through a portfolio of work could get someone a job without a degree.

• They work 35-40 hours a week and can earn £18,000 per year (according to National Career Service)

Other Ideal Job RolesPHOTOGRAPHIC STYLIST-• This job involves working close with photographers to organize everything behind the scenes.

Finding props, dressing the set and creating the overall look and mood of the photoshoot.• I would need to have an understanding of photography and lighting as well as a good eye for

colour, shape and good people skills.• A design related course or a HNC/HND, degree or a foundation degree are often an

advantage in subjects such as:• Fashion promotion• Fashion styling• Fashion journalism• Interior or exhibition design• Visual merchandising or display• Photography

ADVERTISING ART DIRECTOR-• This job involves designing eye-catching advertising campaigns.• It requires imagination, a flair for art and design as well as being able to work In a team.• Many art directors have studied design and have a HND or a degree in:• Graphic design• Advertising design• Illustration• Fine art

Plan of ActionIf I was to peruse a career in becoming an Art Editor I would :• Achieve my target grade in college and get into a University such as Bournemouth,

Brighton, Southampton or one in London studying a creative subject, for example graphic design, advertising design or a relative art subject.

• Gain work experience from media companies or shadow practicing Art Editors or similar job roles in the business.

• Gain contacts through networking, LinkedIn, mutual contacts.• Get a part-time job (relative to media or not) to earn money so I can afford to go to

places for experience

Work Experience OrganisationGiraffe Social Media • Based on Old Commercial Road, Portsmouth• They are apart if Giraffe Ltd, a national media company that are 'communication

specialists'.• They are also involved with Social media management, Content marketing "Hiring

experts enables you to pinpoint the type of content that will unlock the door to your desired results", Content driven social media . They also have an Ebook called 'The Social Media Detox'

• Jerri Cook, Senior Development business manager is the person I would contact in relation to the work experience

• There are 11 employees. Some of the roles are Social Media Manage, Content Marketing Manager, Business Development Manager.

• They have worked with companies such as AIRFRANCE, 118 118, Park Resorts, Encyclopaedia Britannica UK and Casillero del DiabloThey focus on social media which i use everyday, as well as being a working media environment it would be useful to gain experience in a media field to see what i am interested in.
