Welcome!
Welcome to Kindergarten!· Please sign in.· Find your child’s cubby. There
is an envelope for you and a special treat for your child.
· Please complete the forms inside the envelope as indicated and return to me by Friday.
All About Me
· My background· I grew up Wakulla County.· I am a graduate of Wakulla High School,
Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University.
· My experience· I’ve been teaching for 8 years.· I also taught at Wakulla Prekindergarten.· I love teaching Kindergarten!

My Goals· To provide a safe, nurturing, fun
classroom environment.· To give your child the academic and
social skills that they will need to progress to the 1st grade.
· To help your child make new friends.· To inspire your child to love learning!
Class Subjects· Your child will receive grades for:
· Reading and Language Arts· Math· Science· Social Studies· Penmanship (Handwriting)· Work Habits· Citizenship
Classroom Community· Our classroom is a community. In our
community, we have rules to help us get along with each other and be safe.
· Our class rules are:· I can …always follow directions. · I can …keep my hands, feet and other objects to myself. · I can …use small voices inside and walking feet wherever I go.· I can …take care of my things & keep my classroom neat & clean.· I can....... use caring words, work together, get along,& respect others.
Homework· Your child will have a developmentally
appropriate homework activity each week. · Homework activities are designed to do
TOGETHER with your child.· Your homework packet is sent home on
Friday morning and is due the next Thursday.· A small completion grade is given when
homework is returned.
Attendance· School starts at 8:50 A.M. · If your child is not in the classroom by the
time the second bell rings, check in at the school office before coming to class.
· If your child will be absent please contact me or the front office to let us know.
· Send in a note or email to me on the day your child returns that briefly explains the absence.
Field Trips· Field trips are planned as funds are
available.· Examples of field trips we have taken in the
past are:· Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural
Science (Junior Museum)· St. Marks Wildlife Refuge· Florida Capitol· Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory
Classroom Parties· We will have five parties during the school
year.

Mother’s Day Tea (May)
Summer Birthdays (May)
· Except for the Mother’s Day Tea, you will be assigned to bring goodies for one party. You are always welcome to attend every party, however!
Communication
There are several ways that I will keep in contact with you to provide information during the school year:
• PAWS book (goes home daily)• Newsletter (goes home every Friday)• School website (updated weekly)• Classroom blog • Email list serve messages• Parent conferences
Kindergarten Parent Night
• Make plans to attend our Parent Night on Thursday, August 26th at 6:00pm.
• Our Kindergarten teaching team will be available to answer your questions about curriculum, grades, parent conferences, and developmentally appropriate Kindergarten practices.
• Childcare will be available.
