A Steadfast Mom

Uncle Ben said to Peter Parker that great power comes great responsibility. It is a popular quote in the Spiderman movie. But I dispute the meaning of the citation

mentioned above. People are only ordinary beings with intelligence. They don’t have any

extra ordinary power just to do their accountability. Hence for me great responsibilitycomes only in the commitment of an individual to his or her service is the key of nobility.

Some say that women are noble. They are noble because they will become mothers who

bear the generation of our race. According to Jose Rizal in his letter for the women of Malolos, he stated that a Filipino mother has the responsibility to raise her children close

to the image of God, to awaken and prepare the mind of the child for every good and

desirable idea and to teach children to prefer death with honor to life with dishonor. And

he asserted the qualities of a mother should be a partner of her husband’s heart andmisfortune, aid her husband, share perils, and sweeten his moments of affection.

Mothers as well as women were criticized because of gender discrimination in 300 years

of Spanish regime. Yet, today’s generation is not like in the past. Women learned to be

bold and mothers realized to be stronghold. An epitome of a mother that has definedabove is my mother for the reason that she features the ideals of being a mother today.

I was sleeping in my room suddenly I woke up due to the unpleasant noises of mydrunkard father and the altercation of my mother. I tried not to listen but I almost heard

the whole story. I asked my father about the situation. “I had been a stagnant, and I

cannot stop her decision”, he replied to me as he was not drunk. I did not understand

about his response but I know there was an explanation. At age of 7, I began seeing mymother seldom in the house. I remembered the days of seeking her caress but she was not

there. When I was 10 years old, I started to abhorrence my mother by cause of her being

hooky in home. She had been working eight hours in a day, five days a week and onlytwo days of resting. She had been a teacher in a school of the neighboring town when I

was at age of seven as my father stated to me. I was confused about the truth. I asked tomyself why she needed to work at the far distance where she could teach in the placewhere we live. That moment I became rebellious I didn’t do my assignment and I didn’t

value my education. My father rebuked me but I didn’t mind it until the hearsay reached

to my mother. She confronted me. Our conversation that moment was a treasured time for me because I had opened my mind that she cared for me and she thought of me even she

is far away. I marked my mother’s expressions that I could remember until now. She told

me that she suffered teaching klutz students and disciplining hard headed pupils, she

endured the pains of the hand of my sluggish father and the criticism of others about of our living . One statement of her that touched my heart that we are her treasures and the

only treasure she can give to us is the wisdom in our hearts. I was sad and ashamed as I

thought of my failing grades. I asked forgiveness from being lazy and I pledged to do my best to pass and graduate. I vowed to her and she swore that she will support the family

until I and my brother become independent. Despite of being poor and deficient in

affective domain especially parent’s sustenance . My mother is the one who provide theallowance of the family, our cloths, our food and our other basic needs. She replaced my

father’s area in being the breadwinner. She is the foundation and important persona of

our home. I considered my mother a far-fetched woman because of her hardship to

balance her time for her family and her job. My mother is my star but not just a simplestar, her ability to shine makes her exceptional to other stars. She shines above the sky far

away from us to notice that her altruism is invincible.

Mothers are pure in heart. They don’t make a pandemonium for their familyrather they sacrifice their selves to make the situation harmonious . They have a good

heart and her genetic descendants should take care of her and be happy that they have

her.
