ACTS 4:20For I cannot help but speak of what I have seen and heard!
IamunsureofhowIamgoingtoconveyhowgreatthispastmonthwas.ThiswasdefinitelymyfavoritemonthinSouthAfrica,andcouldquite
possiblybeoneofmyfavoritemonthsofmylife.Somuchhashappenedand
fromstarttofinishithasbeenAMAZING!
ThemonthbeganwithourUKZNStudentRetreat.Wehadaround30
studentsfrombothWestvilleandHowardattend;bringingaboutsomuch
moreunitybetweenourcampusmovements.Theweekendfocusedonthe
powerofGod.WetalkedaboutthepoweroftheLordswordsincreatingthe
universeandhowthroughthebloodofChristweareofferedaccesstothat
samepowerwhichraisedhimfromthedead.WealsospokeabouttheHoly
Spiritsroleinallowingustousethispower,andhowwearecalledtouseittoglorifytheLord.Thestudentsseemedtohavesomuchfun,anditwas
amazingtoworshipwiththemandhangout,aswewereabletobuildmore
relationshipsthroughouttheweekend.Aswespokeaboutthepowerofthe
Lord,Heshowedupmakingthatsamepowerveryevidenttous.Firstwe
experiencedHispowerinsimplybringingtheweekendtogether.IfonlyIhad
roomtosharewithyoutheeventsleadinguptothecamp,orevenhowthe
talkscametogether.Weweregivenbibles,sothatwecouldgiveevery
studentatourcampabibletotakehome.Onestudentsaidhehadnever
purchasedabible,buttheyhavealwaysgiventohim.Earlierthatweekhis
bibletoreandhethoughhewouldfinallygiveinandhavetobuyoneforthe

HoweverGoddecidedthatwasnottheplan,andthatHewouldprovideoneforhim.Attheendoftheweekendwetooktimetohearwhatthestudentshas
learnedandwithoutpromptingthestudentsfrom
Howarddecidedtheywantedtoformastudent
leadershipteamtoorganizewhatwashappening
attheircollege,sothatwhenweleavetheycan
takeoverthemovementandcontinuetoreach
theircampus.Thestoriescouldgoonforeveron
howwesawGodmoveduringthiscamp.
IwaspersonallyabletoexperiencetheLordthroughmypreparationsandmy
leadingofwomenstime.WetalkedaboutknowingGodandbeingknown
throughthestoryinMark5,aboutthewomanwhohasbeenbleedingfor12
yearsbutrunstoChrist,toucheshimandishealed.Wetalkedabouthowwe
needtobesofocusedonChristthatwecanidentifyHimashepassesby,and
thatevenaswefeelunclean,unworthy,orashamedwecantrustthathewill
healusaswefindthecouragetorunoutinthecrowdinordertofindhim.Itwas
anawesometimetoshareourexperiencesaswomenandhowitisterrifyingto
letothersknowexactlywhoyouare,andourdifficultiesintrustingthatGod
keepsnobookofourwrongsbecauseChristtookallofoursinsandourshame
onthecrossinordertoridusfromthatguilt.
Fromourstudentcampwewentstraightinto2daysof
teachingAidseducationwithcrossroadsinaSmartChoiceslesson.WesawseveralhighschoolstudentstrustChrist
throughtheirviewingoftheJesusfilmandwereableto
informthemmoreonthetransmissionandconsequences
ofAIDS.
AfterSmartChoiceswethenheadedbacktocamp,butthistimewithorphans
andvulnerablechildrenfromthetownshipofNtzuma.IhavenodoubtthatIwill
lookbackonthatweekatseveralpointsinmylifeseeingthelifechanging
implicationsithadonme.Iwentintotheweekweary,scared,worried,and
dreadingwhatwastocome.IwasnotpairedtoleadwithanyoneIknewsoIfelt
asifIwouldbelonelyallweek,andwhileIwasveryexcitedtoworkwith
teenagegirlsIwasalsoscaredathowexhaustingit would
beespeciallyifIhadnobodywithmetokeepmesane
asIled.FortunatelytheLordtookcareofallofmy
worries,andblessedmeaboveandbeyondwhatIhad
asked.ItbeganwhenIarrivedatUkukhanyawith
someofourstudentsfromUKZNtohelpsetup.Still
beingalittleworriedIsearchedformycoleader.Her
namewasErin,andshehappenedtobeanAmerican
whocametohelpwiththecamp.
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in
order that you may know the hope to which he has called you,
the glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably
great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19
PrayfortheAmericanstudentsarriving
thisweek.Praythetimetheyspend
herewouldnotonlybefruitfulfor
ministrybutfortheirwalkswiththe
Lord.Praytheywouldleaveknowing
andlovingChristmorethantheydid
upontheirarrival.
SummerProject
Prayforourstudentsfromcampus,that
theywouldbefindingwaysto
experiencetheLord,andwouldleave
theirholidaylovinghimmore.Alsopray
forourstudentswhowillbejoiningthe
summerprojectforoneweek;todo
theirownwinterproject.
StudentsonHoliday
Praythatthesweetchildrenwemetat
thecampwillexperiencetheLordin
newways.Praytheywouldstaysafe
andhavejoywhilefindingwaysto
simplybekidsinthemidstoftheir
everydaylives.
ChildreninNtzuma
PrayfortheLordtorevealcleardirectioninHisfutureplansformylife,
aswellaswisdomformeasIdiscern
thoseplans.
PraythatIwouldcontinueto
experiencemoreofGodsloveforme,
andthatHislovealonewouldbring
mejoy.
PraythattheLordwouldcontinueto
givemestrengthinthemidstofour
busyupcomingschedule.

Thisatleastgavemealittlereliefinknowingthere
wouldbeaslightcomfortofafamiliaraccent.Itookmy
timetothanktheLordforhisprovision,notknowing
thatbytheweeksendtheideaofsayinggoodbyeto
ErinwouldbeheartbreakingbecauseIhadsomehow
cometolovehersomuch.Ourcrazyexperiencewith
ourgirls,andourabilitytosimplygoofofftogetherand
beourselveswasmoreofablessingthanIcanexplain.
Ourgirlscamefromalldifferentbackgrounds.
Someofourgirlswereorphans,somewereinnormal
families,somewereactingasthemomsoftheir
families;takingcareof6otherchildren.Eachhada
differentstoryandeachwouldbreakyourheartina
newway.TheypretendednottoknowEnglishforthe
firstfewdays,butcorneredErinandIonenightinour
roomandbegantoopenuptousINENGLISH!Who
knew?Itwassonicetoseethejoytheyhadfortheweekastheyabletosimplyactlikechildrenwhocould
becarefreeandhangoutwiththeirfriends.Iwasable
tolovethesegirlsinmyweekofknowingthem,and
lovemanyoftheotherchildrenwhowereatthecamp
(especiallyafewofthe49yearoldgirlsJulieandKatie
weretakingcareof).WesawmanykidstrusttheLord
duringtheweekandwereabletoprayforthe
hardshipstheyweregoingthroughathome.Itwas
heartbreakingastheyleftandIbegantothinkabout
whattheyweregoingbackhometo.Godhadtoteach
methatwhileItrustHim,andtrustHimwithmylife,I
didnottrustHimwiththeirlives.Hemadeitclearto
methatIneededtostopdrawingHimdiagramsofwhat
Ithinktheirlivesshouldbelike,butrathertrustthatHe
hasplannedwhatisbestfromthemandwillultimately
bringatimeofnotears.
AftercampDan,Barrett,Katie,andIwenttotheUSAvs
AlgeriaworldcupgameinPretoria.Itwassuchan
awesomegame,especiallysincewewon10.Earlier
thatdaywealsowereabletopetlionsatthelionpark.
JustanotherdayinAfrica.Lol
SincethegameIhavebeenparticipatinginWorldCup
ministry.IpassedoutDVDsfromaBrazilliansoccer
player,Kaka,whotoldabouthisexperiencesofGod.I
havealsobeenhelpingatasoccerclinicfor
underprivilegedkidsinthecity.Eachdaythekidsshow
upandplayafewgames,aswellashearalessonon
howacertainsoccerdrillrelatestolifeandtheLord.
Allinallthismonthhasbeenunimaginablyexciting!We
havebeenblessedwithfruitfultimesofministry,
awesomefunexperiencesaswellaswithextraordinary
people.MyheartwasbrokenandIhavebeenchanged
morethanIcanexplain.
