STEPHEN HAWKINGIt is a theoretical physicist, astrophysicist, cosmologist and British science writer. His most important work to date have included providing, with Roger Penrose, theorems regarding singularities in space time framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, 3 what is known today day as Hawking radiation (or sometimes Bekenstein-Hawking radiation

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of the United States. He started from the Lucasian Chair of Mathematics (Lucasian Chair of Mathematics) from the University of Cambridge from 1979 until his retirement in 2009.4 Among the numerous awards that have been granted, Hawking has been honored with twelve honorary doctorates and has been awarded Order of the British Empire (CBE degree) in 1982, with the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord in 1989, the Copley Medal in 2006 and the Medal of Freedom in 2009

PARENTS AND FAMILY:• Hawking was born on 8 January 1942 in Oxford, England, to Frank

(1905–1986) and Isobel Hawking (1915–2013). His mother was Scottish. Despite their families financial constraints, both parents attended the University of Oxford where Frank studied medicine and Isobel, philosophy, politics and economics. The two met shortly after the beginning of the second word war at a medical research institute where she was working as a secretary and he as a medical researcher. They lived in Highgate, but as London was being bombed in those years, Isobel went to Oxford to give birth in greater safety. Hawking has two younger sisters, Philippa and Mary, and an adopted brother, Edward.

STUDIES:• Hawking went to St Albans School, a local public

school in Hertfordshire. At 17, he passed an exam to study at Oxford. He studied physics and chemistry there. Because he found it really easy at the beginning, he didn't study a lot for the final exams• In October 1962 he started his graduate course at Trinity Hall. It was

at this time that his illness started to show up. He had difficulties in rowing and then even simply in walking. However, he finished his PhD and wrote about black holes in his thesis. He then got a fellowship (a job as a university teacher) at Gonville and Caius College in 1965.

The first symptoms of the disease appeared during his stay at Oxford and ALS at the age of21, just before his first marriage was finally diagnosed with. At that time the doctors predicted would not live more than 2 or 3 years (normal disease survival time), but for unknown reasons, it is of the few people who has survived many more years, still suffering from the progressive advancement of disability.

• In 1985 it was performed a tracheotomy and since then uses a voice synthesizer to communicate. Gradually it has been losing the use of his limbs, as well as the rest of the voluntary muscles, including the neck strength to keep up with his head up; with all this mobility is practically zero. The wheelchair used in public is controlled by a computer which handles through slight movements of the head and eyes. With one of her cheeks voluntary contraction, it is made up words and phrases in his speech synthesizer.

"THE END OF HUMANITY ON EARTH IS INEVITABLE"

• HAWKING SAYS THAT MANKIND SHOULD CONTINUE WITH THE SEARCH FOR HABITABLE PLANETS IN SPACE: "WE HAVE TO CONTINUE WITH THE SEARCH SPACE FOR MANKIND. WE WON'T SURVIVE ANOTHER 1,000 YEARS WITHOUT ESCAPE OF OUR FRAGILE PLANET", HAWKING TOLD THE MEDIA. "IT FLOWS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS IN DIFFERENT PLACES, AND THAT'S THE KEY TO THE FUTURE. IT'S AN IDEA FIRST SUGGESTED BY ALBERT EINSTEIN MORE THAN 100 YEARS AGO. SO A SUPER MASSIVE BLACK HOLE IS LIKE A TIME MACHINE. BUT, OF COURSE, IT IS NOT EXACTLY PRACTICAL. IT HAS ADVANTAGES OVER WORMHOLES WHICH DOES NOT CAUSE PARADOXES, THAT IT WILL NOT DESTROY IN A FLASH OF FEEDBACK. BUT IT IS RATHER DANGEROUS. IT IS VERY FAR AND EVEN WILL TAKE US VERY FAR IN THE FUTURE. FORTUNATELY THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO TRAVEL BACK IN TIME, AND THIS REPRESENTS OUR LAST HOPE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A REAL TIME MACHINE."

THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY LIES IN OTHER WORLDS, ACCORDING TO STEPHEN HAWKING

• Stephen Hawking is clear that humanity needs to colonise other planets to escape extinction. He doesn't like two newscasts, but little more or less to get us. In particular, this scientist believes that the end of the world by leaps. Most likely we do not have even a thousand years more, a small sigh in geological time. That, will be an end of the world for us, not for the planet, which even though it will be fleeced, not pop up into a thousand pieces or anything like that. In his view, the greatest plague us, so a time finish with its fragile ecosystem, disappear, without more stories. Therefore, the famous astrophysicist believes that fragility of ecosystems requires to find new worlds, taking into account the little confidence that raises the exploitative and predatory behavior that we have shown so far.
