Do you remember playing those Milton Bradley board games as a child; the ones where you chose your favorite colored pawn and placed it on the beginning space, which was clearly marked “START?” Then, with the roll of the dice, or by drawing a card, you moved a determined number of spaces, jumping over various hurdles, including your friends, bypassing obstacles and unpleasant situations, jumping ahead as a leader? It was oodles of fun, knocking off com-petitors on the race to the finish line. At the end, the first to finish landed in this dreamy palace, sur-rounded with the most money, property and all of the fame? All fun and games - until you prematurely got bumped back to start. Little did we know as children, these games were preparing us for real life, the bumps and setbacks that we would encounter as adults.

This month marks the beginning of a brand new year. It’s time to begin with a blank slate and a new plan to get ourselves on the right track mentally and physically. We have the opportunity to Start again. How will you take care of yourself this year? What new opportunities are lurking around the corner for

you? How will you make an impressionable differ-ence in our world, in your own life, in this commu-nity?

In this issue you’ll find tips to maintain good health, ways to care for your pets, along with an encouraging cover story, where a local second grade teacher builds confidence in children through posi-tive recognition.

I don’t know about you, but I refuse to set myself up with even a small list of unattainable resolutions for this New Year. I am choosing instead to focus on a fresh start, knowing that something as simple as a smile or a word of encouragement can make a posi-tive difference in someone’s day. You have the power to change someone’s life. It can change yours, too.

So, relax. Enjoy your personal plan for a new beginning, knowing life’s natural hurdles happen. After all, we can’t mingle in the “Peppermint Forest” forever without occasionally wading through the sticky “Molasses Swamp.”

sometimes there are those special teachers, that not only help

children receive an education in an organized curriculum, but educate

everyone around them; students, other teachers, parents and staff mem-

bers about character, through their words, through example through their

actions. mrs. Dena schafer is that educator. she incorporates citizen-

ship into her classroom and beyond by heading up a state recognized

character counts program. she has thus earned vfw post 285 - teacher

of the Year award.

Dena schafer has been teaching at westar elementary school for the

past six years. prior to that, she taught at the college level for fourteen

years. Dena knew at an early age that she wanted to be a teacher. she

shared her childhood memory of playing school as a youngster with her

little sister in a bedroom full of stuffed animal “students.” now, with three

children of her own and a successful teaching career at westar elementary

school, Dena is able to carry the lessons from her classroom, regarding

the character counts program, to her home and family life, too.

Dena’s classroom is a comforting, organized representation of the

teachings of the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, responsibility,

respect, fairness, caring and citizenship. she balances basic instruction

with good character practices daily with her 22 second grade students.

mrs. schafer sends out weekly emails that give examples of demonstrat-

ing good character to her students at home, encouraging citizenship

beyond the walls of her classroom. currently, mrs. shafer’s classroom is

the honorable home of the red pillar, which represents “caring” while the

other five pillars are spread throughout deserving classrooms at westar

elementary school.

most recently, Dena is responsible for the accomplishment of man-

aging a campus-wide fundraiser to promote character programs, raising

$1,500.

estrella’s first annual chili cook-Off presents winners

Dena and her husband were recently treated to dinner and honored

at an awards ceremony in surprise, arizona by the vfw post 285. John

sims from vfw post 285 informed the second grade teacher that she had

been selected for this award.

Dena said that one of the greatest rewards of being a second grade

teacher is, “seeing the light bulb turn on” within her students. she enjoys

being engaged in working together with her students and is rewarded

by providing a safe, positive environment, where every day is a learning

experience for students and teachers as they face challenging, rewarding

experiences through learning, behavior and creativity.

Outside of school, Dena and her family enjoy volunteering at their

family’s church. they are active in the awana program, enjoy hiking in

the four-peak area of arizona and love to travel.

The air was cold, but the chili was Hot, Hot, Hot, as Estrella’s First Annual Chili Cook-Off prompted residents to sample the secret recipes of Estrella’s fine cooks and vote for their favorites. On Saturday, December 5 the winning People’s Choice Award went to Joe Hills and the Judge’s Award was presented to Patricia Normile. Both winners received beautiful baskets compliments of Goodyear Home Watch and the fabulous CCMC judges. Residents were also invited to mingle among the boutique-style booths and hear live Christmas music as they awaited Starpointe’s Annual tree-lighting ceremony.

the goodyear white tanks rotary club supplied an abun-dance of toys to make christmas dreams come true for the tri-city Boys and girls club this holi-day season. volunteers from this o r g a n i z a -tion and the rotary club handed out toys on the afternoon of D e c e m b e r 17, surprising little ones with toys and a spe-cial visit from santa. in a sepa-rate community service event, the goodyear white tanks rotary club worked to increase their annual christmas food box donations from 50 boxes, filled with food and good books, to 100 boxes for the needy, uphold-ing their promise to serve those in need in goodyear and sur-rounding communities. estrella resident David lesnick is the president of goodyear white tanks rotary club and can be reached at [email protected].

As a pediatrician here in Goodyear on the front lines of this cold and flu season, I get many questions from parents about what they should do to prevent their kids from get-ting sick this winter. I have found the H1N1 virus has prompted many concerns, but the approach to the seasonal influenza viruses and H1N1 are similar. My experiences from many rough cold and flu seasons in the Midwest and East Coast have prepared me for this season’s extra H1N1 outbreak. I recommend 3 main steps to prevent getting the flu and staying healthy:

1. Vaccinate yourself and your children over 6 months old against both Seasonal Influenza and H1N1. There are a lot of myths about vaccination, and people should speak with their doctor to clear up any misconceptions. Vaccination provides your body a “sneak peak” at the viruses, and allows your body to prepare defenses against it.

2. Prevent the spread of germs by frequent hand washing, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. If you have a small child under 6 months, think twice about taking the baby to large gatherings or parties, especially during the holidays. If you must, be sure that people use hand gel or wash their hands before handling your child.

3. If you or your child feel you have the flu with symptoms like headaches, fever, sore throat, body aches, nausea, runny nose, cough, and diarrhea, you should stay home and rest. Never give children Aspirin for the symptoms. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen are the safe choices for children over 6 months of age. Also make sure that you hydrate your kids with plenty of liquids - water, juice, and ice-pops are all okay. If your child has a history of immune compromise, like previous transplants or a chronic illness, or even a history of asthma, take special care, and observe these children closely. If you notice difficulty breathing, or a child who is not maintaining hydration, seek medical care immediately.

To-do lists can be crazy. Work, the kids, your obligations - all reasons (okay, all excuses) to resist exercising. A recent article in Experience Life magazine suggests that our struggles to maintain regular exercise routines are prob-ably not really about time or equipment, they’re obstacles in place in our thoughts and feelings.

Make sure you don’t fall down to the bottom of your own priority list. Make your health a priority. Here are some tips to help you achieve a fitness goal:

Write it Down – List your goals and what you want to achieve from exercise. Then pencil in, or better yet, write some scheduled time on your calendar in ink for regular exercise. Make sure it is movement that you will enjoy, and be realistic about the goals that you set for yourself.

Estrella Mountain Church introduces Holy Yoga on Fridays, beginning January 8, 2010 from 8:45-10 am in the EMC Auditorium. Childcare is avail-able for $2 per child or $5 for three or more children. estrella mountain elementary school welcomes new principal

Mrs. Sharon Marine is the new interim Principal at Estrella Mountain Elementary School. Her career began at Estrella Mountain Elementary School in 1992. She was hired as a third grade teacher and taught K-2 multi-age, ELL classroom. She was also a reading coach and reading specialist dur-ing her early career years. In 2006, she entered administration, being selected as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Freedom Elementary and went on to become the Assistant Principal there. After three years away, she is delighted to return to Estrella Mountain Elementary School as Principal. Sharon is an Arizona native, having grown up in Tucson. She graduated from Grand Canyon University with a BS in Elementary Education and earned her Master’s Degree from ASU in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Language and Literacy. Sharon, her husband, Jeff, and family reside in the Estrella community. Together that have raised seven children, all but one of them attended Estrella Mountain Elementary School. They have four grand-children. In her free time, Mrs. Marine likes to spend time with her family and play competitive tournament softball.

new salon georvid Opens

After almost 21 years, Estrella residents George Burson and David Samora have had salons at the Total Image Beauty Mall on 7th Street and Bethany Home Rd. in Phoenix. On December 9, they moved their salon to a larger location at 513 East Camelback Rd. The new and improved 1400 square foot Salon Georvid opened its doors on December 9.

David Samora, a native of Arizona, has been in the beauty industry since 1978. He opened his original salon, Tu Perfections, at the Total Image Beauty Mall in 1989. David is a renowned hair stylist and color specialist. From 1992 to 1998, he was the official hair designer to the Miss Arizona Pageant. He also served as hair director to the Mrs. Arizona and California International Pageants in the late 1990’s. In addition to doing hair, David also does natural nail manicures, acrylic nails and pedicures. As an extra treat, David finishes off his pedicures by incorporating elements of Thai foot reflexology, which he studied at the Jera Traditional Thai Massage School in Chang Mai, Thailand.

George Burson, a New York native, has been in the beauty industry since 1972. He worked in New York and New Jersey freelancing for well-known cosmetics companies such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Estee Lauder and Lancome. George traveled nationally as a make-up artist and special events coordinator for Calvin Klein Cosmetics in the 1980’s. In Arizona since 1989, George opened A Man’s Touch Skin care and Make-up Studio at the Total Image Beauty Mall on July 1, 1995. George was make-up director to the Miss New Jersey Pageant in the late 1970’s and personal make-up artist to Miss Arizona from 1992 to 1998. George was also make-up director to the Mrs. Arizona and California Pageants in the late 1990’s, and make-up director at the former Gerard Alexander Spa/Salon at the Biltmore. His experience also includes work with photographers, theatrical productions, and local and national magazines.

On January 1, 2008, David and George combined their businesses and formed Salon Georvid as a full service salon for women and men. wolves varsity basketball team dominated in season Opener

The Estrella Foothills High School Boy’s Varsity Basketball team dominated the court all evening long at their season opener on Tuesday, December 1 against Fountain Hills. Coach Amundsen added that the team did a pretty good job for their first game. “I wasn’t too pleased with our defense in the first half, but felt that we really turned it on in the second half.”

Senior Corey Hawkins chalked up 16 of 21 points in the first period of play. The Wolves dominated the Falcons 21-11. In a continual lead, senior James Pierce added insult to injury to the Fountain Hills Falcons, putting up a total of 15 points of his own by the end of the second period, with the Wolves leading 43-22 at half-time. By the end of opening evening, Troy Coleman slammed an additional 10 points of his own on the scoreboard and Devon Hawkins finished the game with 20 points. This season opener was the first time that brothers Corey and Devon Hawkins teamed up together. Coach Amundsen replied, “I saw that we needed to work on our transition defense. We got better at that in the second half, but know that going forward we need to improve that aspect of our game.” The final score was impressive, Estrella Foothills-81, Fountain Hills-36.

it’s rodeo time in Buckeyesave the february Date

“The Cowboy Way” is a long-standing and well-loved tradition in Arizona. Community spirit combined with this tradition resulted in the first Buckeye rodeo seven decades ago. Today, the Buckeye Mainstreet Coalition is proud to carry on the legacy as the town of Buckeye gears up for its thirteenth annual Senior Pro Rodeo on February 6 and 7, 2010. The spirit and history of the Buckeye Rodeo helps preserve the heart and culture of a community. This rodeo starts at 2 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Prices are $10 for adults and kids are free. This year’s event will be held at Buckeye Equestrian Center, the premier equestrian facility in the Valley of the Sun.

The event will once again begin with a Cowboy Breakfast before slack (7 am to 9:30 am) on Friday, February 5. The price for breakfast is $4 and includes eggs, hash browns, pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice. Dinner will be served at 5 pm on Saturday, following the rodeo. For $12 you’ll savor on an 8 oz. rib eye steak, cooked to order, cowboy beans, dinner rolls, salad, drinks and sheet cake. An auction to benefit Buckeye Rotary and Buckeye Lions high school scholarship fund follows at 6:30 pm. Jordan romero prepares to take on mount everest

In a previous issue, we covered a news piece about a proud Estrella grandfather, Alex Romero, who is sharing his grandson’s dream and experi-ence of summiting the seven highest mountains in the world. As you might imagine, taking a hiking trip of this magnitude requires a huge amount of preparation. Team Jordan, consisting of Jordan’s father and step-mom, has traveled to Mt Everest to recon the area and set things up for the team’s summit attempt, which they plan to begin in April or May of 2010. What in the world does a hiker take on a trip up Mt. Everest? Pets are a very special part of our families. That is why it is very impor-tant to understand the best ways to keep them healthy. Regardless if the pets need vaccines or not, a yearly physical exam is always recommended. A thorough exam can give veterinarians information about the general health of the pet and detect early warning signs of potential problems. In Arizona, there are a number of diseases that normally healthy animals can acquire such as Tick Fever and Valley Fever. When diag-nosed early, most of these diseases can be treated successfully. During the exam, good advice can also be given on finding the right well-balanced diet to keep your pet fit. Overweight animals have become common findings in our households. Overweight pets can be predisposed to a num-ber of problems, such as diabetes, orthopedic difficulties and heart disease. Some of these pets can benefit from prescription weight loss diets and thyroid evaluations. The final important factor in maintaining healthy pets is exercise. Depending on the age and energy requirements your pet has determines the amount of activity they should enjoy. Exercise not only increases muscle mass and burns fat, it also keeps arthritic joints less painful and more mobile. Dogs, in particular, are also less likely to be destructive when exercised. We all love our pets tremendously. Make it one of your New Year’s Resolutions to make your pet health a priority in 2010. Your pets will thank you for it!

In a previous issue, we covered a news piece about a proud Estrella grandfather, Alex Romero, who is sharing his grandson’s dream and experi-ence of summiting the seven highest mountains in the world. As you might imagine, taking a hiking trip of this magnitude requires a huge amount of preparation. Team Jordan, consisting of Jordan’s father and step-mom, has traveled to Mt Everest to recon the area and set things up for the team’s summit attempt, which they plan to begin in April or May of 2010. What in the world does a hiker take on a trip up Mt. Everest? A thorough exam can give veterinarians information about the general health of the pet and detect early warning signs of potential problems. In Arizona, there are a number of diseases that normally healthy animals can acquire such as Tick Fever and Valley Fever. When diag-nosed early, most of these diseases can be treated successfully. During the exam, good advice can also be given on finding the right well-balanced diet to keep your pet fit. Overweight animals have become common findings in our households. Overweight pets can be predisposed to a num-ber of problems, such as diabetes, orthopedic difficulties and heart disease. Some of these pets can benefit from prescription weight loss diets and thyroid evaluations. The final important factor in maintaining healthy pets is exercise. Depending on the age and energy requirements your pet has determines the

Dlc resources, inc., the common-area land-scape management provider for the estrella community, is proud to extend our sustainable business practices to estrella residents through our christmas tree recycling program.

Disposing of christmas trees at a con-ventional landfill takes up valuable space and resources. further, it has to be actively managed for decades to prevent any negative impact on the environment.

Dlc is proud to partner with estrella to pro-vide christmas tree removal service to the com-munity. not a single pine needle from estrella will end up in a landfill. instead, your christmas tree will be brought back to Dlc’s facility to be ground into small chips with our 260-hp hori-zontal grinder and sent to a local green waste recycling facility where it will be repurposed into future mulch and paper products. so, it’s quite possible that the tree you recycle this year will be used to create the paper on which you write next year’s christmas wish list.

You can drop off your christmas tree at starpointe residents club on the west side of the parking lot from January 4 through January 15. Dlc and estrella thank you for helping to keep estrella a beautiful and sustainable community through your recycling efforts.

frost season in the valley typically runs mid-november through february. the frequency and intensity of frost can vary during this time of year due to a number of reasons, including elevation and population density. plants that suffer frost damage are easily recognized by their blackish-brown fruit or leaves and shriveled shoots and stems.

Preventing frost damage

• Plant native plants. Selecting plants native to our environment ensures you use plants that are used to our weather. non-native plants may not be as tolerant of this climate.

• Select western and southern exposure planting areas for frost-sensitive plants.

• Plant frost-sensitive plants near block walls, rocks and patios; rocks absorb heat from the sun and main-tain a warmer temperature through the night.

• Cover bare soil with mulch to create a barrier between the frost and your planting areas.

• Cover plants susceptible to frost-damage with cloth or paper to insulate them. Drape the paper or cloth all the way to the ground to help trap heat radiating from the ground under the cover. a nursery can help you identify material made specifically for covering plants.

• Watering plants the night before a frost can help them stay warmer. Dehydrated plants are more sus-ceptible to frost damage.

• Remove the cover after sunrise each morning.

• Do not prune frost-damaged shrubs or ground cover plants until the threat of frost is done, about mid-february. pruning away frost damage too early can result in additional damage to the plant if it is hit by frost again.

• Prune frost-damaged trees after new growth has emerged, usually in early April. This way you are able to better prune and balance the tree since you can identify where growth is occurring and where the tree may be suffering from frost damage.

• Removing damaged areas stimulates new plant growth. It is important to wait to prune until the frost season is over since this new growth is especially sensitive to colder weather.

Block watch programs enlist the partici-pation of citizens in cooperation with the goodyear police Department to reduce bur-glaries and other neighborhood crimes. their primary purpose is the protection of prop-erty, yours and your neighbors. Block watch programs are a proven and effective means to reduce residential burglaries as well as other crimes in the neighborhood. the fundamental premise is “a good neighbor is one of the most effective crime prevention tools ever invented.”

Block watch program participation does not require frequent meetings, does not ask anyone to take personal risk to prevent crime, and reaf-firms the responsibility for apprehension of criminals where it belongs – with the police. participation does involve getting to know your neighbors, receiving information on how to recognize suspicious activities and report them to the police, and using crime prevention mea-sures to discourage criminals from perpetrating crime in your home and community.

whO are the

people in your neighborhood

Montecito residents, Mary and Darrel Jones, have been married for over thirty years. The two met in Flint, Michigan and moved to Arizona in 1992. They currently share their Estrella home with two German Short-Haired Pointers (bird dogs) and call themselves “baseball people”… and baseball people they are! Darrel played baseball professionally and their son Dennis was scouted by the pros, but both had their careers shortened due to separate

injuries. Darrel was in an automobile accident in 1965, followed by a severe basketball injury which required many surgeries and incorporated a lengthy rehabilitation which would end his career years later. His baseball career included playing with an independent minor league double AA Midwestern team called the Horns until age 23. At the age of 51, he would try out for and make a team in a league made up of predominately former major and minor leaguers in Florida. He was respected as a top third baseman and short-stop in both leagues. He went on to coach baseball for over twenty years follow-ing his own career and spoke nationwide as the Executive Director of his foundation, Concerned Coaches and Athletes Against Drugs.

Mary and Darrel also have a grown daughter, Rebecca, who lives in Michigan with her husband and two sons. When Mary and Darrel aren’t watching young baseball athletes progress through the minor league game play, Mary and Darrel might be seen in the stands at a Diamondback home game, or catching an occasional high school or college game. Their Montecito home also draws a group of sports enthusiasts on occasion. “Friends still stop by to catch games on our big screen,” says Darrel.

Mary and Darrel have lived in a variety of places, including beautiful Sedona, Arizona and then Florida. Mary continues her career as a nurse of thirty-five years and Darrel, currently retired, has been a Top 40 CEO in the insurance world. He also built and developed a national automotive exhaust dealership/franchising program. Together, Mary and Darrel have recently co-authored an e-book titled, Incredible Income in 7-Days, How to make $100,000 a Year without a Harvard Degree. This book covers a path to suc-cess, carved partially by the author’s ability to overcome his career-crushing auto accident. It can be found at www.CareerandIncomeBuilder.com. Mary and Darrel also enjoy escaping to their old stomping grounds in Sedona to trout fish in Oak Creek Canyon and occasionally drive up to the White Mountains during the warm weekends in search of a great catch.

Keeping up with the Joneses in Montecito includes potlucks and side-walk gatherings with neighbors. “Our neighborhood is quite diverse, with folks coming in from Canada, the East Coast, California and the Midwest,” said Mary. “We gather on the streets for good food, entertaining music and lots of visiting,” says Mary. The mixture of good people and the country set-ting are a large part of the why the Mary and Darrel love Estrella.

Chili Suppers for Chilly WeatherChili, has countless variations, and your family probably already has its

favorites. Not only is Chili warm and comforting when winter storms are sending gusts down off the mountains, but Chili is inexpensive and gets bet-ter with re-heating. Better still, Chili can simmer all day in the slow cooker, ready to serve after a long day at the office and classroom. Add a hearty loaf of fresh bread, and it’s a meal.

White Chili is a favorite in our house. It is made with chicken, white beans and crisp corn kernels, and served with lots of blue corn chips. If your family has never tried Chili without tomatoes, you are in for a treat.

With the Cincinnati Reds arrive in Goodyear for Spring Training, you might want to learn to make Cincinnati Chili, which is served over spaghetti with the beans, onions and cheese heaped on top. It can be made in advance and warmed up as the noodles cook and each person can choose from several toppings, or as we say in southwestern Ohio, 3-way, 4-way or 5-way Chili. Don’t bother with a loaf of bread or corn chips, because this chili is served with oyster crackers. (Note: those are not misprints the ingredients list. This chili does indeed have cinnamon, allspice and chocolate in the sauce.)

About 1 ½ lb. boneless chicken; breasts or thighs

Olive oil for browning

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1 large onion, chopped

Brown chicken in oil with garlic and onions in a deep skillet. Shred with 2 forks.

add 2 cups frozen white corn kernels

½ c. diced green chilis

1 tsp. cumin

2-4 cups cooked or canned white beans

Optional: ½ c. chopped nopalitos

Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer at least 20 minutes.

OR cover and simmer on very low heat up to 2 hous.

Just before serving, stir in:3 Tbs. lime juice

serve with :Blue Corn Chips

Shredded Cheese

white chili You can begin with left-over cooked chicken, making this recipe

really quick.

cincinnati chili This Chili is delicious when made with grass-fed beef or buffalo.

chili: 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped

2-4 cloves garlic, minced

2 Tbs. olive oil, more as needed

1 lb. lean ground beef or bison

1-2 Tbs. chili powder

2 tsp. cumin

2 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. allspice

1/2 tsp. cardamom

1/2 tsp. coriander

2 Tbs. cocoa powder

1 Tbs. Tabasco sauce

2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce

2 Tbs. cider vinegar

1 tsp. salt, or to taste

1/2 tsp. black pepper

2 c. tomato sauce

water or broth as needed (not necessary in slow cooker)

to serve: 1 lb. spaghetti, cooked and drained

1 large sweet onion, chopped

2-3 c. cooked kidney beans

1-2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

oyster crackers

in large heavy pot (or skillet if using slow cooker) sauté

onions in olive oil just until transparent. add garlic and

ground meat, cook until meat is no longer pink. (You may

transfer the sauté to a slow cooker at this point.) add the rest

of chili ingredients, bring to a boil then reduce heat, cover

and simmer at least 2 hours on the stove, stirring occasion-

ally and adding additional water or broth as needed. (Or cook

6 - 10 hours in slow-cooker, low setting.)

serve over hot cooked spaghetti in shallow bowls, topped

with raw onions and warm beans, with shredded cheese on

top. pass oyster crackers and additional tabasco sauce.

Two of duVal’s most common computer repair needs include virus/spyware infections and data loss, due to hard drive failure. Both circum-stances are frustrations that can interrupt an otherwise productive computer session. One of the services of GTech Providers is to make sure that his clients maintain good security software and an easy-to-run backup solution. duVal believes that providing clients with long-term solutions to com-mon computer issues is essential to customer satisfaction. GTech Providers incorporate services for all computers, ranging from the individual to small business network environments, including custom built computers for gen-eral and specific needs. “I always tell my clients that I am not the cheapest

builder around, but I focus on quality parts and local technology support,” says the owner of the computer repair and home theater service.

“One of the things that I really enjoy about my job is the interaction with cli-ents and the rewards from providing reliable solu-tions,” says duVal. “I get to meet a lot of different people from many different walks of life. My clients have ranged from students going off to college, needing their iTunes fixed, to WWII Veterans who like to sit and pass on their experiences and wisdom.”

GTech also provides custom solutions in home theater/home enter-tainment, ranging from simple TV installations to home theater and whole house audio solutions. GTech can generally provide same-day or next day service and repair calls.

What began as an opportunity for duVal and his wife to escape the Washington D.C. “rat-race” in order to purchase a computer store with his father-in-law in a small town in Texas back in 1999, evolved into this busi-ness in Goodyear in 2002 in order to invest in a larger market.

When this Estrella resident and business owner is not keeping his cli-ents up and running, duVal enjoys spending his free time with his family and in activies in his church.
