“My God, My God…”

“My God, My God…”Matt. 27:46

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God,

my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”Most of us at some time in life may have asked the same thing.

God never forsakes His Children!

I. What does this mean?Isa. 59:1-2

“Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save;

neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have

separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face

from you, that he will not hear.”


I. What does this mean?Christ was not separated by His sins

Isa. 53:4-5“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our

sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the

chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”


I. What does this mean?He came to die for us

Hebrews 2:9“But we see Jesus, who was made a little

lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the

grace of God should taste death for every man.”


I. What does this mean?He is the propitiation for our sins

I John 2:1-2“My little children, these things write I

unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with

the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole

world.”


I. What does this mean?He suffered for us

I Peter 2:21, 24“For even hereunto were ye called:

because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye

should follow his steps… Who his own self bare our sins in his own

body on the tree…”


I. What does this mean?For the moment the sins of the

whole world came upon Him.Separating Him momentarily from

God.Hebrews 4:15

“…but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the

form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:”

cross.”

Stephens - Acts 7:56-58“And said, Behold, I see the heavens

opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And

cast him out of the city, and stoned him…”

“And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were

counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.”


Are we willing to serve beyond our comfort zone?

Christianity cost many of the early Christians, greatly, some even

their lives.When we think of that, are we

doing our part?


What can we do for our gospel meeting?

First, plan to be present every time possible.

Second, try to bring someone with you.

If we can do this, we will have a successful meeting.


Do you need to make a change in your life?

Do you need to obey the gospel?Do you need to be restored?If so, why not this evening?
