-A Wildlife Biologist is a person who studies animals and the habitat they live in. Wildlife Biologists have a direct involvement with the well-being of wild animals. As a wildlife biologist, you may specialise in a specific animal area such as wildlife management, wildlife law enforcement, environmental education, natural resources management, environmental biology, conservation biology, or research.

- I chose this career path because I love animals , I want to do something with my life that involves travelling around the world, studying different varieties of animals and of course helping them to survive.

Take Courses at College

Taking these courses in college will provide you with an excellent background and will allow you to take biology at university. • Mathematics •Chemistry •Physics •Biology• English• Different Language (recommended)

At university you need to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree- majoring (specialising) in Animal Science/ Behavior.NZ Universities you can do this at:•Otago University• University of Canterbury• Auckland University• Massey University (Palmerston North)• Waikato University Once you’ve completed your bachelor degree you’ll then need to do your Masters Science Degree. This is where you’ll really specialise in your wildlife studies. • Masters in Wildlife Biology (Overseas) • Masters in Animal Science/Behavior/Ecology (NZ Universities)

•According to the government careers website, entry level biologists can expect to receive around $35,000 per year.

•Dependent on experience and study undertaken, a biologist can easily earn up to $120,000 per year .

•If you are lucky enough to work in documentaries, film or TV ... You will be earning a whole lot more than that!

• Being able to work with different varieties of animals

• Helping to save the planet

• Helping animals to survive

• Able to travel around the world

• Meeting other people and different cultures

• Watching the effects of the environment killing animal species

• Long periods of time away from home

• The cost of ongoing study/learning in the field

• High risk of getting sick or injured being in different environments.
