Step Brothers is a 2008 American buddy slapstick comedy film starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.

The story is about two aimless middle-aged losers

o They are two grown men in their forties and they are fighting like they are children.

o The music is meant to be for a serious film but they are using that music for a really stupid scene it make it more humorous.

o They are being so serious which makes it funny.

o Everything just goes out of control.

Reason’s why I love this scene:

Sound…At the beginning of the scene the music is very

serious, this brings humour because, it’s a funny film and you're not going to

expect a murder or a shark coming out. This is funny

because, it’s serious music when nothing serious is

being done he’s putting his private parts on someone's

drum kit!

Throughout the scene the music becomes more hyped up which can relate with the

actors because, they are fighting so it makes it seem

more brutal. But funny.

Slow Motion

While the two characters are fighting on the front lawn everything is very

quick. But as soon as they are about to hit each other it goes into slow motion. This creates a humorous effect because, you know

that they are both going to hit each other with the bats and it creates a suspense.

You also see the other characters faces looking in disbelief. This also creates a

humorous effect.

Shot types

In this bit of the scene they are using a long shot so you can see

both actors. It’s funny because, he touched the drum kit and he’s sitting there without a care and you can see his reaction when he walks in the door. It

shows also what he’s watching on the TV and the way he’s

sitting.

Performance and Movement

While Dale (Ferrell) is playing the drums, his expression is extremely tense. He really

wants to ruin the drum kit and

begins to hit it violently. He starts to become more

enthusiastic, this is shown by the way he moves his arms,

also by his bold facial expressions. While they are

both on the lawn their movements and expressions

are scrunched up and they are

hitting each other. The other characters movement and

performances make a humorous effect on the scene

because
