One of my tasks at work is to find out new things

that could benefit our business. One of the

areas I am most keen at looking into is mobile

apps. I’ve recently purchased a new smart

phone and have developed a fascination with

the fact you can find an app, download is and

be using it within 2 minutes. I’ve come across

many apps since I’ve been doing my research,

but here are my favourites for business.

I found this great app which literally makes 2D

objects come to life. Augmented reality apps

allow you to point your device at a 2D object

such as a business card or flyer and literally have

the information jump out to you on your devices

screen. There’s been a rise in companies using

this method to get visually pleasing information

across to audiences.

QR Readers

QR and barcode readers are incredibly useful to

businesses. You can have them printed on your

business cards to take users directly to your

company website, Twitter profile or Facebook

page. Whilst I was at a business show the other

week, I actually saw a stand that just had a QR

code on it. There was no information, nothing

else on it whatsoever, you simply had to scan to

find out who it belonged to. Brilliant marketing!

Businesses have been slowly coming around to

the pro’s of social networking for years now, but

what are the benefits of going mobile? Think

about running a small boutique’s Facebook

page and seeing something at a wholesale

shop that you think would be perfect for your

store. You could snap a picture and ask your

audience if they’d be interested and have an

answer straight away. Mobile social media apps

make real time interaction a viable possibility,

something, which can be infinitely beneficial to

your business.

Mobile Games

Some companies have started producing

games that can be downloaded from app

stores. The game needs to be relevant to their

business but also fun enough to keep the user

playing. It’s a great way to drip feed a constant

reminder of what sort of company you are and

what it is you do. Think about it, every time they

open their games folder they will think of your

business.
