One of my favorite sagas isThe Kingkiller Chronicle,which tells Kvothes life,told by him. At first they arethree books: The Name ofthe Wind, The Wise MansFear and The Doors ofStone.Kvothe is a very humancharacter, because in thebooks the good things thathe has done are narrated,but the bad things too. Heis a legendary character,the hero and the villain ofthousands of stories. 4. All people think he is dead, when actually helives with a false name in a remote andmodest inn, of which he is the owner.Nobody knows who is now. Until one nighta traveler, called the Chronicler, recognizeshim and asks him totell him his story,thereal story, to whichfinally Kvothe agreed. 5. The protagonist belongs to a troupe of itinerant artists.In this environment Kvothe, an intelligent and cheerfulchild, learns different arts. For him, the magic does notexist; he knows that it is tricks. Until one day he meetsAbenthy, an old magician to whom he sees to call to thewind.This begins to show akind of magic calledsympathy, althoughKvothe wanted to learnnomination, the nameof all the things. 6. One evening, Kvothe is going to play to the forest, and whenhe returned he found all murdered. A few unknowns weresat around a bonfire, but then they disappeared.Since this Kvothe goes to the University, the only placewhere he can learn everything he wants. There also hehopes to find information about the Chandrian, somebeings of old stories.Kvothe believes thatthey killed his family. 7. In this saga many mysteriesappear, and the majority arenot solved immediately, thoughthe reader can find clues in anypage. These books belong to thefantastic genre, since there arefae beings, magic and fantasticworlds.Other books that I have likedhave been Earths Children(Historical fiction), ElInforme Phaeton (sciencefiction), and A Song of Ice andFire (an Epic fantasy). 8. Memorias de Idhn is a fantasy and adventuretrilogy written by the Valencian author LauraGallego. The trilogy has been translated into manylanguages, between them to English.The books are; Memorias de Idhn I: La Resistencia,Memorias de Idhn II: Trada, Memorias de IdhnIII: Panten 9. The books tells the story of a fantastic chain of events thatwill affect two worlds: Earth and Idhn. Idhn was createdby six gods, who also created the warm-blooded races(Humans, Celestes, Fericos, Varu, Giants and Yams) andthe semi-divine dragons and unicorns. There is also aseventh god, enemy of the rest, which created the cold-blooded Szish and the semi-divine sheks, which are wingedsnakes. 10. The sheks and Szish werebeaten in a war and exiled toan old, dead world: Umadhn.However, a powerfulnecromant, Ashran, alliedwith divine magic, caused aconjunction of the three sunsand moons of Idhn, and usedits energy to kill all dragonsand unicorns so the shekscould come back and, helpedby the Szish, rule the worldand the warm-blooded races. 11. Still, a prophecy by the gods stated that a unicorn and adragon would survive and defeat the sheksAfter Ashrans rise, somewarm-blooded wizards escapedto Earth. In order to kill them,Ashran sent Kirtash, a human(warm-blooded) but cold andefficient assassin. Jack andVictoria, born in Earth, willjoin the Resistance (whichconsists only of Shail, a youngwizard, and Alsan of Vanissar,a warrior and prince) and tryto stop him. 12. As the story goes on, we discover thatthere is a complex plot behind it, whichspins around the battle of the Gods: Thesix creator gods (Aldun, Irial, Karevan,Wina, Yohavir and Neliam) against theSeventh god, father of the cold-bloodedraces. The terrestrial beings are onlythe pawns theyll use to win a godlybattle. The dragons guide the warm-blooded races; the sheks guide the Szish.Meanwhile, the unicorns randomlyspread magic through the world,touching people with their horns inorder to make them witches or wizards. 13. The Six gods made aprophecy in order to make adragon and a unicornsurvive the massacre, andthe Seventh god sent Kirtashto kill them before it cametrue. The Resistance willfind new and powerfulenemies as the story goeson, such as the beautifulfairy Gerde, who will havean important role in the lastbook. 14. I have liked this trilogy because apart from fantasy it alsohas adventure and action between other topics, which fitvery well between them and in the story. To my me it turnsout a very interesting story from which a lot can be learned,though it is a fantasy.The End
