My Favorite ArtBy Paige Daly
Three Spanish painting that move and inspire me
The Skipping Rope
Information About PaintingPainted in 1907Artist of the Skipping Rope is Joaquín Sorolla and
BastidaThis painting is of Sorolla’s daughter, Elena, who
is playing around in a park with other girls who are playing with a skipping rope
This painting is like a snapshot of Elena running
Why I chose “The Skipping Rope”
Having a sister who plays with me a lot, this painting reminds me of my sister and me playing around in my backyard when we were both younger. We would be on our swings, throwing a ball back and forth, and more fun games. In the painting, you can almost hear the laughter going on in the back round. My sister and I have a strong knit relationship, and I hope will stay like that for a long time.
Christ Crucified
Information About Painting Painted around 1655Painted by Fransico de ZurbaránCategory is religionTechnique used is oils on canvasPainting is about Christ being crucifiedChrist has a sign on top of the cross which says
King of the Jews
Why I chose “Christ Crucified”Being a Christian and every Easter
reminding myself how Christ sacrificed himself to save me from hell and my sins, this painting pierced my heart with the pain that Jesus went through because he loves me and cares for me. 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” For Jesus to die for me because of his love is incredible and hard to wrap your mind around. But now since my sins are cleansed and Jesus has risen, I am his daughter and will meet and spend the rest of eternity with the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
A Romance
Information About Painting Painted in Paris in 1894Painted by Santiago RusiñolStyle is ImpressionalTechnique is oil on canvas
Why I like “A Romance”Whenever I was in kindergarten, I started to
play the piano. Then six years later I quit because of other conflicts, like sports. I still sit on my piano and play songs that I still remember to this day to remind myself of the old memories. When I saw this painting, it reminded myself of me playing the piano with my teacher and enjoying myself. Sometimes I wish I still played the piano, but you can’t do everything, you only have 24 hours in a day.
