My Family History

Page 2: My family history

My grandfather’s parents immigrated from Syria. A country in Western Asia, bordering Lebanon and

the Mediterranean to the West, Turkey to the north, Iraq to the east, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest.

His parents came to America through Ellis Island.

They left Syria because the Muslims (who are about 87% of the population) were slaughtering Christians (about 10%).

His grandparents were killed by Muslim Radicals.

The main reason people such as my great-grandparents immigrated to America from the Middle East is RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION.

The culture in the Middle East is quite different than in America because of the radicals that are freer to murder in the Middle East.

There was a trend of internal migration in my family because my grandparent’s both started near the east yet ended up in California because it was greatly idolized.

My Grandfather started out in the Megalopolis that Boston is a part of and ended up right in the Los Angeles Megalopolis.

My grandmother has a similar history to my grandfather. Her family left, however because of the wonderful tales they heard of America.

Her family settled in Iowa until eventually moving to California.

My Siti (grandma in Arabic) disliked California because she preferred the slow and stagnant environment of Iowa which is a part of the AGRICULTUAL CORE.

Iowa was more stable than the fast paced CA she moved to.
