As the product that I am creating is a music magazine, it would be useful to identify the kinds of bands and artists that my targeted audience are interested in. By doing so, it would be easy to identify the kinds of bands that my audience are interested in and the kinds of bands that would do well in advertising through my music magazine. The audience research that I conducted shows that my targeted audience is interested in the following bands and artists:

Bands

The large majority of the bands and artists (with the exception of some) that are featured on the previous slide are alternative and rock bands. This gives me a good idea as to the kinds of music my targeted audience listen to. It would be a good idea to take representation into account especially when dealing with stereotypes. The kinds of people who are stereotyped to listen to rock and alternative music are often labelled under the branches of ‘emo’s’ or ‘goths’ under the perception that they often wear black and that the music they listen to is ‘depressing’ in some way. This stereotype creates an image through which these people are commonly represented under, giving me a good idea as to how I could style my models and manipulate their images to cater to the interests and likes of my targeted audience.
