Our School picnic 1A Li Ming Ha

Today I had a school picnic in Fanling Farmland. I went there by school bus and I went there with my

classmates and our class teachers. I felt very happy to go there because it was the first time for me to go to the

farm with my classmates.

First, we took some photos. I could see many trees and flowers in the farm. Then, I sowed seeds with my

friends. When I was sowing seeds, I saw a beautiful cricket in the soil. I had never seen a colourful cricket

before so I felt excited about that. I thought it was the unforgettable experience in this school picnic. After that,

we had lunch and after lunch we picked vegetables.

A Day with a Student from the UK 1A Chiu Ka Yu

Today I spent a day with my new friend from the UK. Her name is Wing. She is 12 years old. She has

straight hair. She also wears glasses.

In the morning, I went to Ocean Park. I chose it because I watched the bird show before. I saw the

dolphins there. The dolphins were very cute and lovely. I bought souvenirs such as a baby shark and dolphin

dolls. It was a wonderful day for me and my new friend. When we watched the dolphin shows, she screamed

as the dolphins jumped over the sea.

In the afternoon, I went to the Peak. I chose it since we could see the beautiful view of Victoria Harbour. I went

shopping with my new friend. I bought some gifts for my family. It was because the gifts were so nice. On the top of the Peak,

we drank coffee. We thought the view was so wonderful. My new friend said “I have never seen such a beautiful view in my

country.”

At night, I went to Hong Kong Disneyland. I chose it because I could play many games there. First, I played the roller

coaster. It was very exciting. Second, I took some photos with Mickey Mouse. It is because Mickey Mouse is my favourite

cartoon character. Third, we watched the fireworks. We felt delighted because it was so amazing. When we took photos with

Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck walked towards us too. We felt so surprised.

I thought today was amazing. It was because I bought a lot of souvenirs in Ocean Park and Disneyland. My new friend

and I enjoyed the day because we went to the three places in one day and the weather was great. I hope my new friend and I

can meet in the UK in the future.

A Terrible Experience in the Campsite 2A Poon Ho Kwan

During the summer holidays, there were four primary school students, Sam, Joseph, Kelly and Mary.

They went to the campsite called the ‘Spooky Campsite’ in Tuen Mun. People always saw ghosts at night in

the campsite. However, they didn’t believe in the rumours so they still went to the camp.

When they arrived at the campsite, the views there were extremely beautiful. Joseph said that he was tired

and he wanted to check-in first. They went to the counter. There were a lot of people so they couldn’t get into

their rooms quickly. They put down their luggage in the lobby and took a rest for a while.

About six o’clock at night, they finally could enter their room. All of a sudden, they heard ‘Woo! Woo!’ sounds from

outside. They were surprised so they went out to the counter to ask, but there was nobody. They walked through the campsite.

To their surprise, all the activities had stopped and everyone seemed to have disappeared. ‘Do you think this campsite feels so

strange?’ Mary asked Sam. They looked at the working hours carefully and they had made a big mistake. It was time for

dinner and there was no one. Therefore, they went back to their rooms after dinner.

In the middle of the night, they heard the sound ‘Woo! Woo!’ again. This time, they brought flashlights and searched

around. Although there was nothing, Joseph felt something touching his knee. Joseph became very frightened. He turned his

head around and found that it was Sam who was joking with him. They went back to the room again but the door was locked.

‘Woo! Woo!’ sounds were heard again. They tried to open the door but were still unable to. They were helpless so they went to

the office and asked for help. They told the house-keeper what was happening and the house-keeper laughed, ‘It is only a

misunderstanding! We need to protect everyone in this campsite so we will lock the doors in the middle of the night. Don’t

worry, I will help you guys open the door now!’ They were very embarrassed. They were very scared so they said, ‘We won’t

come back again!’

Good Work

An Unlucky Day of Nobita Nobi 2B Wong Sze Wai, Zoe

This morning, Nobita was late for school as he didn’t want to get up from bed. He rushed out of the

door hurriedly. On his way to school, he met Gian who started chasing him down the street for no reason.

Gian always bullied Nobita, so he was already used to it. This was a very unpleasant start of his day.

Luckily, Nobita was still on time for his lesson. “Come to the front, Nobita!” his Mathematics teacher

shouted as soon as he walked into the classroom. Hearing that, Nobita walked towards his teacher nervously.

The teacher pulled out Nobita’s test paper in front of the whole class and a big “0” was written on it. “You

got 0 again!” his teacher said angrily. Nobita felt depressed and embarrassed.

When he got home, he was very uneasy when opening the door because he knew that his mother would punish him

because he failed the test. When his mom saw the test paper, she was very angry with him. Not only was she angry, she also

tore the sheet into pieces and stepped on it.

After being scolded, Nobita ran up to the stairs to find Doraemon for help. “Doraemon, help me…” Nobita cried sadly.

Doraemon pitied him as he looked very depressed. So he decided to help him.

“Ta-dah!” Doraemon shouted. “This is a time machine. Go back in time. You can get up earlier for school and prepare

well for the test,” he explained. Nobita agreed to do it. Then he took the machine and went back to the past.

Finally, Nobita came back to the present time holding a test paper with a “100” on it. Doraemon was very proud of him.

Solutions to Teenage Problems 3A Rachel Yeung

Dear Alice,

I haven’t seen you for a long time. I’m sorry to hear about your problems. Please don’t be upset. I will

try to give you the best suggestions in order to solve your problems.

You said that you had a fight with your best friend. I think the method you mentioned in your letter is

not a good way to manage this problem with a fight. I think you can write a letter to your best friend, Kitty, to

say sorry, tell her the truth and don’t lie. Therefore, she will forgive you after some days. She will understand

you.

As you said, Pat, your classmate, had stolen your smartphone. If I were you, I would first tell the teacher to manage that.

Since teachers are willing to help students when they get into trouble. You should relax. I believe that the truth will be found

out finally! Don’t worry about that!

As I remember, you said you gained weight a lot, right? To lose weight, you should cut down on snacks and avoid fatty

food. Snacks are bad for our health. They consist a lot of sugar, salt and oil. If you keep eating them like that, you will become

fatter! Although I love eating them, I can control myself. Just like me, you can eat fruit when you are hungry. It is because

fruits can fill up your tummy so as not to let me feel hungry so fast. Or you can try to do physical activities such as running

and skipping. They will help you a lot. That’s a good way for you to lose weight too.

Also, you must stop grandma eating too many snacks. Snacks are bad for the elderly too. They won’t let people keep a

healthy lifestyle. So, I suggest you can do physical activities with your grandma too. That’s a good way to improve grandma’s

and your healthy life and the relationship between you and her.

Finally, I think your parents having a great job is a good thing because they want to have a good life with you in the

future. You should not be upset! Your parents just need to work on weekdays, right? If you want to spend a nice day with them

happily, you can go out and have a family day at the weekend together. You can go hiking or shopping with them. Otherwise,

you can tell them your feeling. Let them know about you more. Also, please be

outgoing as they care about you and your teen problems. I believe that you can do it!

Just do it, be confident!

I will support you forever! Don’t be sad, you should face the problems when

you grow up. Hope you can solve the problems. Hope my suggestions can help you!

Write soon!

Love,

Rachel

A letter to the Editor about the Youth Eye Problems on the Rise 3A Micky Wong

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the article entitled ‘Youth Eye Problems on the Rise’ by Junior Standard, 6th

June, 2014. I strongly agree with the writer.

In the newspaper article, it said many people have smartphones and use them for long period of time.

Nowadays, the number of teenagers who have smartphones is growing. It brings many negative effects.

For example, they use their smartphones all the time. It lowers their concentration and it is very dangerous.

Accidents are happening due to the use of phones and users are not aware of what is happening on the road. If teenagers focus

too much on their phones, it will definitely put their lives at risk.

Besides the eye problem which was mentioned in the article, the communication skills of teenagers are also another

problem if they always use their phones. They do not talk face to face because they always chat by smartphone. So they may

not dare to talk with other people in their daily lives, they just type, they don’t speak. If the problem gets serious, they may not

be able to achieve high marks in oral tests or they will not have a good performance in their interview for university or a job.

So this will affect their future.

Teenagers with smartphones all the time are not good because it will affect them seriously.

Yours truly, Micky Wong

Tseung Kwan O

Bullies are Everywhere 4A Wong Oi Yin

Dear Vincent,

Hey! How are you doing lately? After reading your email, I felt so sorry for your situation right now. I

hope I can be there for you at this time as I’m really worried about you because you are my best friend.

As you said in the email, the older students who live near you are playing tricks on you. They call you

names and shout things at you in order to make fun at you and tease you. I think you should ignore them

because they are doing some stupid and annoying things to attract your attention. That’s what gangs do!

Therefore, if you think it is very disturbing, just wear your headphones and turn the music on to ignore them.

But, remember one thing. If you see them walking towards you, keep calm and don’t run away, to let them know you’re not

scared of them. Otherwise, they may chase after you.

In the email you sent to me, you said you needed to walk the same way as them for school. In my opinion, you don’t

really need to find other routes home that spend more time if you’re not comfortable with walking with them. The easy way to

deal with the problem is to find a buddy who goes to the same school, even the same class as you. Then you guys can be a pair

of great partners. Besides, you can feel more relaxed when you’re chatting with your buddy and loosen your tightened nerves.

When those gangs see you are not alone anymore, I believe that they will not disturb you anyone. Apart from this suggestion,

if you can’t find a buddy to go to school with you, you can go to school earlier in order not to come across them. However, I

think you have to explain why you come home late and tell your mum who you meet, see if your mum can help you out!

Last but not least, the worse thing happened to you. They asked you for money and pushed you over. Did they hurt you?

After listening to this, my heart broke into pieces as I can’t imagine how you suffered from it and how scared you were at that

time. Here is my advice, for the next morning, don’t hand in money to them. Otherwise, they will treat you as an idiot and

keep asking you for money. If I were you, I would tell them you don’t have money and warn them not to disturb you with a

powerful tone. This can make them know you are not someone who can be trifled with.

All the things that I said are my opinion, hope that can help you and please let me know if my suggestions are useful! Be

a tough man this time! Always stand by you!

Love, Chris

How to be an Outstanding Student 4B Kwan Chi Kit

If you ask me how to be an outstanding student, I will tell you ‘be yourself and follow your heart’. Why do I say so? It is because some people always want to become other successful people, so they act like the people who they want to be. I think that isn’t good at all since it is impossible to be totally identical to your idol.

First, I will tell you how I balance my studies and activities. It is not hard to balance both sides. I think the key is not to join lots of activities at one time. I have seen somebody join a lot of activities but receiving very bad results in their studies. For me, I have joined two extra-curricular activities only, which are the prefect team and the basketball team. The reason that I join the basketball team is that I really love playing basketball! It makes me feel relaxed and my study stress is gone after playing it. I suggest you find an activity that you like very much to join.

It isn’t really hard to play sport and get good results in your studies at the same time. One thing is highly important – time management. I always need to practice basketball after school. When I return home, I used to take a shower before doing homework. Then, I usually studied for 30 minutes after finishing my homework. Also, I need to take rests during weekends to hang out with friends and do whatever I want. I think that is how I balanced both studies and activities.

I remember when I was in Form 1, I was a very naughty student. Luckily, Mr. Smith corrected me every time when I was wrong. I always used swear words to talk with others, not only classmates, but also teachers. I always played pranks on others. But Mr. Smith taught me what I should do and what I should not. Now, I’ve already changed.

I once wanted to give up basketball and quit the prefect team since I couldn’t find any way to relax myself. I really wanted to give up everything. But Mr. Smith told me not to give up easily or else I can’t be a successful person. Finally and luckily, I didn’t give up in the end. I know I can put everything aside and just leave. I know I should face everything, no matter good or bad, strongly and bravely.

That’s all my experiences and my way to success. Although it is a little bit different from the usual ordinary ones, I still think my path is smooth and filled with good teachers and advice. Remember, ‘be yourself and follow your heart’. That’s my faith.

Doing Sports without Getting Hurt 5A Dennis Chung

Dear editor,

Recently, I have read a newspaper article about the dangers of doing sports. It seems that the writer had made some sound arguments, but I disagree with some points that the writer made.

As I think doing sports is good for us, and it is worth it to encourage people to do more. Indeed, sometimes they hurt themselves easily. Therefore, I would like to share my viewpoints for doing sports safely.

First, before we start playing our sports games such as playing basketball and football, remember that having warm-up is important. As I know, many people get their legs hurt because they forget to do warm-up. As a result, spending a little moment to do warm-up can make sure the player won’t get hurt.

Moreover, the equipment of some sports games may seriously hurt people due to their improper use. For example, exciting sports like rock climbing can be the most dangerous one. As so many people don’t dress in the whole suit for protection, they may break their arms and legs, even back bone. In order not to cause tragedy, bear in mind to make sure to dress all the equipment for rock climbing before playing it.

Furthermore, dehydration is the easiest thing to happen to people whilst doing sports during summer. As I know, they may spend too much time on their sports. Hence, it is possible to not realize they are in danger of dehydration. Also, we can’t know that we have to drink water at once before getting dizzy or stoke. As a result, remember that drinking more water before doing sports when it is hot is very important.

Always remind ourselves that doing sports is good for our health and we should have more consideration on the personal safety. The more safely we can play, the more enjoyable of a time we can have.

Last but not least, I sincerely hope my viewpoints will be a key to reverse the situation and there will be more people who love doing sports.

Yours truly, Chris

Mainlanders Visiting Hong Kong – Devils or Angels 5A Candy Wei Di

Recently, more and more travellers prefer Hong Kong to European countries, like England and France

especially the mainland travellers. Moreover, visiting Hong Kong has become a trend. If someone asks a

mainlander if they have visited Hong Kong before and if the answer is ‘not yet’ – they will be considered as

an out-dated person who can’t catch up with the trend. Therefore, more and more mainlanders come to Hong

Kong. According to the report from the Hong Kong Government, there are more than 10 million visitors

visiting Hong Kong each day. That is a huge number! That enables me to think

As a paradise of food and shopping, Hong Kong attracts visitors from all around the world by all means. The

significance of all the visitors is the same – wealthy. They just visit the famous shops like LV, Dior, SLY and buy the

expensive goods by no consideration. Moreover, they will choose the expensive hotels to stay, also have lunch and dinner.

Besides, they will visit the theme park such as Ocean Park and Disneyland. Everything in the Ocean Park is of a high

price. They will buy lots of souvenirs to their children or relatives, yet, the mainlanders will not take buses or MTR to other

places. They will take taxi in order to save time. According to Hong Kong University’s report, each mainlander will spend at

least $2,000 on accommodation, food, shopping and tickets per day. That is such an amazing number! As we all know, after

2003, Hong Kong’s economy was getting worse and worse. There is no doubt that those mainland visitors gave the chance of

Hong Kong to stand up again!

Although the mainland visitors are rich and they bring a range of money to Hong Kong, we can’t pretend that we can

treat the negatives with blind eyes. One such example is mainlanders shopping in the well-known brand shops instead of the

local shops. Shop owners just want money so that they rent their shops to those big companies in order to gain more money.

The local shops are forced to close. That brings a lot of inconvenience to the citizens who live here. Miss Chan, a housewife,

said that all of the shops were selling diamonds or gold. If she wanted to buy some food or vegetables to cook, she had to take

a bus to go another side of the town to buy it. It took her at least 40 minutes. Another case Mr. Lau said that everyday the

streets were crowded and noisy. That heavily makes a bad effect on his life. “Those LED lights will light for the whole night! I

can’t sleep even if I have used a very thick and black curtain!” added Mr. Lau. Those complaints point out a problem – the

huge number of mainland visitors damage our life!

Everything has its positive side and negative side. There is no doubt that those visitors can help Hong Kong’s economy

increase after a lot of work to Hongkongers. However, it also brings a lot of troubles on our life which cannot be covered by

the positives. I hope the Hong Kong Government can balance it. We should not only focus on the development of the economy,

but also the life of the citizens.

32=1 第一次進入校園時,我滿懷忐忑。陌生的環境、陌生的人群,陌生的學習方式。這陌生的一切,讓我害怕,這時卻有一群天使出現在我的生活中。他們和我分享彼此的綽號與趣事、告訴我學校的規則,上課時我們一起討論問題,下課後一起溫習、互相教導。他們耐心地將我從狹隘的天地中拉出來,讓我知道他們早已把我當作其中的一份子,成為「我們」。 我們一起去海邊旅行、一起參加音樂比賽、一起為同班同學加油打氣。「我」成為了「我們」,我們一起嬉笑打鬧,一起努力學習;生日時一起慶祝、考試前互相打氣。我們是 32 個人,我們也是一個人。我們一起接受老師的讚揚,也一起聽從老師的訓話。我們是一班、是一群、是一體。我們將不等式化為等式、我們是 5A。 這所學校裡蘊藏了太多太多的回憶,那些記憶會如同經過沙石沖洗的珍珠一樣,永恆的停留在我們腦海中,成為青春的印記,難以抹去。這是我們同喜同悲同奮鬥同努力的校園,是這世上獨一無二的校園。在這樣一所學校中成長,令我自豪,盼望著,某一天我也可以成為它的驕傲。 平凡的每一天,都因此加添絢麗的色彩;青春的汗水,化為點點珍珠;記憶之舟將滿載星輝,伴我們揚帆出海。
