MVCC SUPPORT OFFICES:

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) AT MVCC:

• TOEFL/IELTS not required

• MVCC placement tests will determine your appropriate English level

• All levels of ESL classes offered

• Students may begin academic coursework during their final level of ESL

• SUNY’s only ESL Certificate Program

Students will be fully admitted into college-level coursework if they submit scores of:

• 500 on TOEFL• 173 on computer-based TOEFL• 61 on TOEFL iBT• 5.5 on IELTS

(Scores on standardized tests are valid for two years)

APPLY1 There are two ways to apply to MVCC, and both are free! Apply online at www.mvcc.edu/apply (choose the international option) OR download the international application at www.mvcc.edu/international-apply. Send your completed application and supporting materials to International Student Services. First-time students, please send your materials, including high school transcripts and financial documentation, at least three to four months before the start date. Learn about the documents you need to submit at www.mvcc.edu/international.

2 Return the Acceptance Confirmation Form to International Student Services once you receive your acceptance packet and Form I-20.

3 Pay the US SEVIS Fee of $200 and have a printed receipt that proves payment before your visa interview. Find out how to pay your SEVIS Fee at www.fmjfee.com.

4 Apply for your visa as soon as possible! There may be considerable wait times for both the visa interview and visa processing. Wait time information for specific embassies and consulates is available at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/ general/wait-times.html/.

5 Complete your housing application and return it with your $100 housing deposit to secure your room. Contact [email protected] for on-campus housing information.

6 Communicate your travel plans to International Student Services. An airport shuttle is available for transport to MVCC.

7 Attend International Student Orientation for mandatory placement tests, advisement sessions, and an introduction to campus!

Even if you plan to go on to a four-year college or university, MVCC is a great place to start your education and SAVE BIG tuition dollars.

International students are required to complete the Financial Sponsor Form at www.mvcc.edu/international-admissions/fsa-4 and show sufficient proof of funding prior to admission at MVCC. This form should be completed by the student as well as the financial sponsor. The international application will not be considered complete until Interna-tional Student Services receives proof of financial sponsorship.
