TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 21, 2020WELCOME!As we gather again for the celebration of Mass, we are all asked to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution for others gathered, please

be aware, prior to entering the church, an usher will ask you a series of questions. Please be patient and wait for their instructions regarding seating, as we must comply with social distancing guidelines.

We ask that everyone takes the following precautions:

If you have a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, you will not be permitted to enter the building.

Stay home if you are ill, elderly, anxious, or immunocompromised. Bishop Knestout has dispensed all Catholics in the Diocese from their Sunday Mass obligation.

Maintain six feet of social distance from others who are not from the same household at all times while in the church or on church property.

All those aged 10 and up and those to receive Communion must wear a face mask or face covering. Be sure the mask covers your nose and your mouth.

Refrain from physical contact, such as holding hands during the Our Father and shaking hands during the Sign of Peace.

Sanitize hand when entering and leaving church. Bring personal supply of hand sanitizer to use before receiving Communion, if possible.

Consider receiving Holy Communion in the hand. After receiving the host in your hand, step six feet to the side, lower your mask, consume the host, put your mask back in place and return to your seat.

Growing in FaithGrowing in FaithFrom Scripture: Matthew 10:26-33, Keep

calm and trust God

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus told His disciples not to fear encountering persecution, but to fear offending God, who has the final say in judging us. We offend God when we deny His love and refuse – through sin – to love Him and others. Our faithfulness to Christ will bring us to Heaven, but it will also bring us into conflict.

Conflict with the world has always been a part of the Church’s experience. Even in the United Sates, we face efforts to undermine Catholic beliefs and values. These attacks don’t hurt us physically, but they can eat away at our faith, our respect for others, and ultimately, our happiness.

Jesus’ advice to His followers 2,000 years ago applies to us today. Instead of being afraid, we can trust God, who watches over all the details of our lives and who wants us in Heaven even more than we want to be there. God won’t make all our problems disappear, but He will give us the strength and grace needed to get through them, especially through daily prayer and the sacraments.

All Saints Catholic Cemetery is your local Catholic Cemetery.

Contact the cemetery to learn more about options for traditional ground burial as

well as niches for cremated remains inurnment.

We are in the process of expanding our Cremation Niches inventory and are

Making funeral arrangements in advance is truly our final gift to our family and last

opportunity to ease their burdens at a time when they are stricken with grief and loss.

I Praise You, For I am Wonderfully Made Responsorial Psalm 139:1b-3, 13-14ab, 14c-15

R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.

O LORD, you have probed me, you know me: you know when I sit and when I stand; you understand my thoughts from afar.My journeys and my rest you scrutinize, with all my ways you are familiar.R. I praise you for I am wonderfully made.

Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb.I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works.R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.

My soul also you knew full well; nor was my frame unknown to youWhen I was made in secret, when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth.R. I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.

St. John the BaptistPatron Saint of Converts, Baptism

Feast Day: August 29

John was a cousin of Jesus Christ and began his ministry around his twenty-

seventh year. He gave up all worldly goods to spread the word of the coming

Savior. He survived during his travels by eating locusts and wild honey. John

brought many believers to the Christian faith. Later, he baptized into the Lord his cousin Jesus and then told his disciples

to follow Christ. Herodias beheaded John because of the words of a jealous

and wicked woman; his head was brought to her on a platter. John was

then buried in Samaria.

Prayer to St. John the BaptistDear Baptizer of the Lord,

I ask for your strength as I try to spread God’s word in my own small way. When I speak of my newfound love for the Lord

to others, let them feel the dedication and respect in my heart. Give me the fortitude to be a good Christian and

help me to help others come to know and accept Christ as well. Amen.

JOHN [THE BAPTIST] CHALLENGES US CHRISTIANS TO THE FUNDAMENTAL ATTITUDE

OF CHRISTIANITY—TOTAL DEPENDENCE ON THE FATHER, IN CHRIST. EXCEPT FOR THE MOTHER OF GOD, NO ONE HAD A HIGHER FUNCTION IN THE

UNFOLDING OF SALVATION. YET THE LEAST IN THE KINGDOM, JESUS SAID,

IS GREATER THAN HE, FOR THE PURE GIFT THAT THE FATHER GIVES. THE ATTRACTIVENESS AS

WELL AS THE AUSTERITY OF JOHN, HIS FIERCE COURAGE IN DENOUNCING EVIL—ALL STEM

FROM HIS FUNDAMENTAL AND TOTAL PLACING OF HIS LIFE WITHIN THE WILL OF GOD.

Mother Teresa: On LifeThe first person in the world to welcome Jesus, to recognize him in the womb of his own mother, was a child: John the Baptist.

It is wonderful; God chooses an unborn child to announce the coming of his redeeming Son.

It is clear that Stewardship thrives at Prince of Peace through a commitment to our many outreach ministries. Thank you and God Bless our Parish Family. Alan Cole

TERRIFIC JOB ALAN: Father Romy and our parish community thank our stewardship chairperson Alan Cole for the terrific job he did in making the 2020 Spring Raffle and Ice Cream Social a huge success. Although we could not gather physically, we were still able to come together as a parish community as we drove through for ice cream and enjoyed watching the raffle and other surprises via social media. We appreciate all that Alan continues to do for our church.

FOOD PANTRY: Donations for the food pantry can be made on Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Someone is near the pantry entrance to receive

your donations. Financial gifts can be made by going to popparish.org and submitted through e-giving. You may not be present physically to give out the food but without your charity, we could not be your hands and heart. You are an integral part of this entire operation. We are doing a drive-through from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday for anyone who needs food. At this time, we can always use Jell-O, small jelly 19 oz. (no glass jars), Hamburger Helper 6-8 oz., 12 oz. cereal, and 64 oz. juice. The best place right now to purchase the right size jelly is Dollar Tree. Small and medium sizes are best to donate. Please check the EXPIRATION DATES. We would like to thank everyone who has donated food to the pantry, especially the big donations which came from Centerville Baptist and the Naval personnel and families. God Bless everyone and stay safe.

As a parishioner if you are in need of food, please come to the Food Pantry to pick up a bag of groceries too.

When preparing your bag, please keep these things in mind: • Bring your bag THE WEEKEND OF THE MONTHLY

COLLECTION• NO glass jars • Always check the expiration dates• Donate only FOOD ITEMS (except for toilet paper)• Small or Medium size items are best to donate• Do not open an item at home, take some out, and send

the rest to the pantry Let us give thanks that we are able to help those in need.

FOOD PANTRY: Monthly food collections for the following weekends in 2020:July 11/12, 2020August 1/2, 2020September 12/13, 2020October 3/4, 2020November 7/8, 2020December 5/6, 2020Your bag does not need to be full; any amount of food is really appreciated.
