The Jazz Horn Legacy Sextet is a unique ensemble
which performs classic jazz repertoire that features
the French Horn. Leader and multi-instrumentalist
Jeff Stockham has been a mainstay on the Central
New York music scene for over 30 years, and the
group’s members include some of the most highly
regarded jazz musicians in the Upstate New York
region. Among the composers and arrangers
represented in the group's repertoire are Jimmy
Heath, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker,
Horace Silver, Shorty Rogers and George Gruntz;
the original jazz French horn players associated
with these jazz giants included Julius Watkins, Gun-
ther Schuller, Junior Collins, Sandy Sigelstein, John
Graas, John Clark, and mellophonist Don Elliott.
The Jazz Horn Legacy Sextet is the only ensemble
of its type performing today. They were featured
artists at the 2016 International Horn Symposium
and the 2018 Mid-South Horn Symposium, where
their concerts were received with great enthusiasm
by French hornists from all over the world.
