MUSIC WORKSHOP: COMPOSITION, PERCUSSION, CREATIVITY School holiday workshops at UTS :: October 2017 WHEN: Thursday 5 October 2017, 9:30am – 4:30pm WHERE: University of Technology Sydney, Broadway Campus FOR WHOM: Year 4 – 8 students REGISTER: www.bit.do/brightfutures17 COST: $100 WORKSHOP: This one day workshop invites you to take part in exciting music activities that will give students a chance to improve their music skills and have a great day whilst doing so. Throughout the day, students will engage in music games, improvisation, movement, composition and performance on tuned and untuned percussion instruments. Activities will allow them to think creatively and apply their musical skills through individual, partner and group work, as well as group performances. Students will be able to take learned material and further develop it themselves using percussion instruments and there will be opportunities for students to be extended in activities. By the end of the day, they will have gained further understanding of musical concepts and techniques, have worked creatively, and leave with a range of new musical ideas. FACILITATOR: Virginia Esparraga is a passionate Music educator holding a Bachelor of Music Education from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She has been the specialist Music teacher at Manly West Public School since 2013 where she teaches K-6 classes, conducts junior and senior choirs, and runs a percussion ensemble. Virginia is a member of the Orff Schulwerk Association of NSW where she presents workshops to teachers in primary Music. She enjoys making music fun and accessible for students, giving everyone an opportunity to be creative through singing, moving and playing. Registrations are now open!
